At the end of last month, it was discovered Koei Tecmo's Tokyo Game Show lineup would include a new game from Atelier developer Gust.
Now, in an update, the company has shared a 25th-anniversary trailer for the Atelier series - not only highlighting this RPG series' extensive history but also teasing a brand new game at the very end - including what appears to be the first glimpse at the next chapter.
While it's unclear what exactly this new Atelier game might be, there are a lot of requests for Ryza 3. At this stage though, it could be a new sequel or even a brand new standalone adventure.
Fans can expect to learn more at this year's Tokyo Game Show, which will begin next week on September 16th. Other Koei Tecmo games that will feature alongside this one include Nobunaga’s Ambition: Hadou and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

The most recent entry in the Atelier series was Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream earlier this year. It followed on from Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy in 2021.

It’s Ryza 3 except now she only has one leg as a result of severe loss of circulation from the thigh down.
Atelier Ryza 3, lie of thigh.
I like Atelier games, but my backlog of them is so long I need all companies to stop producing new games for a couple years if I want to catch up.
Praying to the Ryza 3 gods!
So to me the most exciting thing here is that Sophie 2 is in the secret series, not the mysterious! That explains why stylistically it was nothing like the most anime entries, and shows they are aware of how radical a departure it was.
@Snatcher @JohnnyLew Did you not watch the video? It showed pictures of all the characters, then a space for a new picture. Given Sophie and Ryza only get one photo each, it's not by game ... so like, it's pretty obvious this is going to be a new alchemist. Also, based on it's place in the secret series, it looks like Sophie 2 is "Ryza 3".and finished that trilogy. Not to say we might not get a 4th, they did it with Arland. But there WAS that 8 year gap ...
@HeadPirate I was Jk, I have yet to play one of these games yet.
Seems to be a totally new entry even though I would love Ryza 3 or even a game to end the Dusk saga. Also, I would love a PS5 cross buy version they did it sith Ryza 2 but not with Sophie 2 for some reason. Also, I would really like if they stopped milking the fans with the very expensive digital editions and 50€ season passes but they won't obviously
Atelier Ryza, Episode 3: The Return of the Je-thigh
It seems most long-term fans would rather have Dusk 4 than Ryza 3, but regardless Gust have really been hitting their stride recently. A genuine new start might be the best thing all round, get people in on the ground floor. Atelier is a series I’ve had an eye on for some time, but there are SO many titles, even just on Switch, that another first game is probably the best way to keep trying for newbies.
the ip is getting better and better cant wait to see the next one
I'm hoping it's a new series. I like Ryza and there will definitely be a 3rd game but I'm ready for something new
Ryza 3 with English VO please.
Thighza 3 sounds about right time to announce
Even if it’s not it will eventually happen. Being the most successful/popular Atelier series by far with old and new fans alike has its perks
For someone who’s never played an Atelier game…. Which do you prefer?
Sophie 2 or Ryza 2 ?
@Doomcrow Ryza 1 then Ryza 2. Sophie 2 is a solid game also but the Ryza games are a whole lot more accessible to newcomers.
@FishyS I like Atelier games, but my backlog of them is so long I need all companies to stop producing new games for a couple years if I want to catch up.
Your not the only here even the latest current- I haven't opened it yet. That doesn't include the JPN en version as well.
I'm a thigh hard Ryza fan. Hoping for a third entry!
Oh please let this new game get English dubbed. I am so tired of reading subtitles all the time since they got stingy about dubbing their games!
I'm still working on the Dusk Trilogy on PS3 and have only slightly dabbled in the Mysterious Trilogy. I won't even allow myself to buy any more Atelier games until I'm caught up.
Atelier Ryza 3 please!
Please give me Ryza 3!! I love this portion of the series. The aesthetic really spoke to me.
Ryza is my favorite atelier girl, but I like would like to see someone new or old get a new game.
