The latest Japanese charts are now in and it introduces a few new entries for the week with the likes of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R, The Last of Us: Part 1, and Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure tops the charts with a respectable 19,807 units sold across the week, however the now five-year old Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is right on its tail in third place, selling a total of 12,568 units. It's simply remarkable to see Nintendo's racer continuing to dominate with no real indication of slowing down.
Elsewhere, The Last of Us: Part 1 has entered the charts in fifth place, selling a total of 10,954; the PS5 exclusive boasts a huge visual upgrade over the original PS3 release back in 2013, and our friends over at Push Square awarded it an impressive 8/10 in their review.
Finally, Made in Abyss, the action RPG from Spike Chunsoft, somes in at number four, selling a total of 12,542 units. The PS4 version of the game also entered the charts at number nine with 7,720 units sold. It's certainly indicative of the Switch's popularity in Japan, particularly amongst RPG fans.
All in all, it's another strong week for the Switch, albeit rather modest considering the total units sold. This will likely change significantly next week with the launch of Splatoon 3; a franchise that has proven exceptionally popular in Japan.
Here's the full top ten for the week:

Looking at the hardware sales for the week, the Switch OLED is still dominating with a total of 66,442 units sold. There seems to be no stopping the OLED at the moment, and this has likely been boosted by the launch of the Splatoon 3 model. The PlayStation 5, meanwhile, has seen its own sales dip ever so slightly, but with 18,431 units of the disc model sold, the console's momentum remains relatively strong.

So 7 of the 10 top 10 titles are from Switch and yet the subtitle is "Playstation dominates the top ten"?
"Dominates the top ten" equates to having spots 2,5 and 9? By that logic my beloved Man Utd have dominated the Premier League for the last five years.
I was thinking 60K a week was a healthy target and 98K smashed it. Aaaand yeah, Playstation dominating? Are you having a moment or something Ollie?
Ha, it's late guys.
What that total makes no sense shouldn’t that be Switch dominates the charts? 7-10
Are switch games 🤦♂️
Calm before the ink-storm
@Olliemar28 You think 98k in the Switch's sixth year modest?
@Slasher The headline is referencing JoJo's Bizzare Adventure specifically which, compared to last week's top sellers, is definitely modest.
Is this not clear? My apologies if not.
@Olliemar28 OHHH lol. My bad. Carry on.
@Olliemar28 it's how I read it. JoJo's sales were modest to take the number 1 spot. Won't be the case next week with the number 1 spot
@Olliemar28 I read it as intended Ollie
Only modest sales for JoJo? This must be the work of an enemy stand.
SD Gundam on Switch sold 2.7 million when it launched at 38k?
The chart doesn't even look good for me.
I know better games choices for me, without looking from top 10 chart.
TLOU can’t out sell MK8D in Japan….
Seriously? JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R sold physically on Nintendo Switch more than on PS4/PS5? Yeaah... That looks weird. If it was Melty Blood: Type Lumina, instead of JoJo, I will be happy... But seems that's not the case.
Holy crap, Switch only need to sell 5 million more units to beat PS4 and 7 million more to beat Game Boy.
Wow, 3 Playstation games in the top 10. Nintendo must be slagging.
