Splatoon 3 is out exclusively on the Switch this September, and in the lead-up to its release, the Squid Research Lab has been sharing new clips, music and information about the game.
The latest update focuses on the Inkbrush and Octobrush weapons. The Inkbrush isn't the most powerful, but it's still a handy weapon if you want to make a quick advance while inking up the surrounding turf. The Octobrush makes quite the splash but also uses up a lot of ink with each stroke.
When holding ZR you can use these brushes to sprint at tremendous speed and lay down a ribbon of ink. You can also use rapid-fire brush swings to paint the face of the enemy.
This latest update from Nintendo follows the reveal of a brand new Splatoon 3-themed Switch OLED model. It comes with matching Joy-Con and a dock. A themed Switch Pro Controller will also be made available separately.

This game looked promising from the initial reveal trailer, but since then, Nintendo just keeps showing us absolutely nothing that makes this new game compelling at all.
Inkbrush became my weapon of choice towards the end of my time with Splatoon 2. Hopefully we get a set for it in Splatoon 3 that's as satisfying and compliments it as well as Splat Bombs/Splashdown.
@Not_Soos Just wait for that inevitable Splatoon 3 direct. I have faith they'll show off some good stuff in there. And if the last two games are an indication, that direct is happening near the end of August, just a few weeks before launch.
Splatoon 2 again looks great so dar
im excited for the game and like how story details are still being hidden, but regularly relaying old content isnt giving the game the drive it needs. the constantly recasted subs and specials will make the game mechanically play diff but i get how this isnt exciting anyone outside of core fans
i wish they'd show us more new weapons/subs/specials or even just a character. those would at least be fun things to speculate and wonder how they'd effect the game
Love the brush weapons from 2. Probably my go to in 3.
I can’t wait for this game, wasn’t to hyped before, but after trying 2, let’s goooo!
@PARK1755 Excellent title.
On a serious note, with all the asset flipping they've done, I really hope they improve the mobility in this game, the platforming in story mode is AWFUL in the first two games.
I hope story/solo mode has decent content.
One of my least favorite weapons to get killed by
Online co op for the story would be a good reveal
Another mealy mouthed update on splatoon 3, roll on the release of xenoblade then maybe they will give us more for this game.
Not loving this new strategy of releasing information in such small trinkets like this, come on Nintendo give us a direct!!!
I'm still waiting to hear the most important thing- if they'll finally let us use up and down on the right analogue stick while using gyro aiming. I'd upgrade to this game just for that alone even if it is more of the same.
This will be my first Splatoon and I can't wait, I was going to get 2 but then 3 got announced and I decided to wait for it. I've definitely got high expectations of it based on what everyone says and how popular Splatoon 2 is
I want more exciting news about the game (Modes? Idols?), but I will admit, this might be the game with the least consequences. If they win you over? Buy Splatoon 3. If they don’t? Play more Splatoon 2, my favorite Switch game.
@Not_Soos agreed. I would also appreciate a story mode like Ratchet and Clank. This is the only AAA third person shooter on Switch and the past games had no story so I hope they would fix it this time.
Nintendo expecting everyone to buy the same game for the third time
