Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes has just launched and is, by all accounts, a strong entry to the Warriors series for Nintendo Switch. We gave it a 9/10 in our recent review, calling it a "thoroughly entertaining mash-up of Musou mayhem, strategy and relationship-building aspects".
The game has resonated with fans well over the course of just a few days, bagging the top spot in this week's UK top ten charts. As pointed out by Christopher Doing from GameIndustry.biz, sales for Three Hopes are above its predecessor Fire Emblem Warriors and roughly level with Hyrule Warriors.
Elsewhere, it's a strong week for the Switch overall, with the console making up seven of the top ten slots, including the third-party published Minecraft. Animal Crossing: New Horizons snuck into the top ten for the first time in several weeks, and recent hits like Nintendo Switch Sports and Mario Strikers: Battle League continue to demonstrate the Switch's wide appeal.
Just to top it off, LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga continues to be exceedingly popular on the Switch compared to other platforms, making up 40% of total sales for the game.
Here's your look at the top ten for the week:

To me this just shows Nintendo’s consistency putting out new games, but more so PS5 and XBX being pretty barren. Apart from God Of War 2 and the Final Fantasy offshoot thing I doubt much else will challenge Ninty’s chart dominance for the rest of the year.
Really good week for Switch software in general, you love to see it.
Three Hopes is great, sales are well deserved.
Yet people still say " hurr we need Switch 2!!!"
I’m bummed that we have two Fire Emblem Warriors games and only one from the main series proper (not counting the first game on NES) this far into the lifespan of the Switch.
Also, there are eight (not seven) Switch games in the top 10 above, which is bloody impressive for those of us who faithfully stuck around during the Wii U era.
@SteamEngenius Looking at FEW:THs framerate in handheld-mode, yes
FIF... wait a minute... it's not on the charts!!!!
It's a miracle! Hurray! 😀
@Silly_G
7 Switch exclusive games as Minecraft is the Switch version only.
As a Brit who largely grew up during the Gamecube era, this is amazing.
Nintendo has historically had a rockier time in the UK compared to other markets - it's still strange to me that their games are topping the charts so frequently, but I guess that's the power of the Switch.
Fire Emblem also had a notoriously rocky start in the West in general.
To see a Fire Emblem spin-off of all things top the charts in the UK is fantastic.
Can't wait for the Nintendo Switch to outsell the gameboy/gameboy color THIS YEAR!
Who is still buying GTA V?
@LillianC14
The same buying Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
@KindofaBigDeal how does that even make sense xD they don't have anything in common beside continuing sale
@MrGawain I'd guess the holiday season charts will look like (in no particular order):
@danemord
Why do people question why people continue to buy GTAV every week when MK8 is in the same boat?
@Grumblevolcano
Hopefully that Last of Us 70 quid cash grab is nowhere near the top 10.
Three Hopes was never going to hit the same pace of sales as Age of Calamity, simply because Three Houses never had the same level of appeal as Breath of the Wild. It's definitely better in terms of both quality and difficulty, but obviously it's the brand and marketing that's ultimately going to sell it.
@KindofaBigDeal : Strange that they wouldn’t specify that (with Switch in parentheses), if that is indeed the case.
For a moment, UK gamers want to be Chinese Warrior rather than kicking the balls.
Wait a minute.. UK charts but WITHOUT Fifa? Is that even allowed?
@sanderev : There are two other football games on the chart. Do they count?
@Silly_G
Yeah it is strange as it shows it as the Switch version on Gameindustrybiz which is (I assume) the source for the info.
Minecraft must be near 10 million on Switch now if not higher.
Nice. Sounds like it won't enjoy the same level of success as Age of Calamity, but I'm glad it's off to a strong start.
Enjoying FE Warriors 3H so far.
@sanderev Mario Strikers is the new FIFA lol
@MrGawain a big part is the unavailability of ps5 consoles..
@KindofaBigDeal Mario Kart 8 has a long ways to go to reach GtAV. I think it’s sold like 170 million
@johnedwin
I agree. But it’s a chicken and the egg situation- can’t get a console to play the new games that you can’t get that make you want to get a new console. I would guess Sony is hoping for God of War 2 as a jumping on point when there’s more consoles out there, and for XBX a similar situation with Redfall.
@roboshort
Multiplatform for GTAV obviously but MK8 Deluxe has been consistently in the top 10 for 5 years so the same question should be asked!
The world is upside-down when a Musou game tops the charts. I don't hate them, but definitely see them as filler more than anything. As long as it's better than AoC though... That really was one of the worst Musou games I've played.
At least this year the Musou is just mixed between actual major releases rather than the main offering of the year like last time!
@KindofaBigDeal That's because Mario Kart 8 is frequently packages with the system. And Mario Kart 8 is still getting new content. When was the last GTA 5 update?
@thinkhector
The next gen upgrade and is it not getting constant new content through GTA online?
Really cool seeing the switch doing so well in regions it normally doesn’t dominate.
@KindofaBigDeal anyone buying a new switch
@rockodoodle
Which is probably the case with GTAV as well.
Mystery solved! So never needs to be asked again!
@rockodoodle @KindofaBigDeal Someone on Push once told me that the reason GTAV sells so much has something to do with the bundled digital currency being cheaper when the game goes on sale than buying Shark Cards, so people keep buying "new" copies of the game on sale just to get the digital currency for cheaper than buying it alone.
Which both makes sense, and is very very sad.
@NEStalgia
Yeah I heard that too and agree with the very sad part!
GTA V slowly creeping back into the top 10 while Animal Crossing: New Horizons slowly dropping out.
@Grumblevolcano it's always the first in the pair that sells more, Red/Gold/Ruby/Diamond/Black etc etc and infinitum
