Update #2 [Thu 9th Jun, 2022 20:17 BST] It's official! Shredder's Revenge launches on 16th June on the Switch.
The date — which was leaked as per the story below — has been confirmed at Summer Game Fest today. Casey Jones is now a confirmed playable character, and you'll be able to play with multiplayer (locally and online) with up to six players. That's more than enough for a pizza party!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge will cost $24.99 on the Switch eShop. You can check out the new trailer from Summer Game Fest below.
Update [Thu 9th Jun, 2022 16:35 BST] Geoff Keighley has confirmed that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge is indeed going to be part of tonight's Summer Game Fest opening showcase.
All the host has said on Twitter is that there will be "world premiers" and "new content", so it might just be some new gameplay, but maybe we'll get some news on a release date tonight? Maybe? We can hope.
Original article [Thu 9th Jun, 2022 10:00 BST] Dotemu and Tribute Games' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge is due for a release this summer, and despite a few physical release announcements — including a stunning Classic and Radical Edition — we don't have anything more concrete.
One Twitter user, @the_marmolade, has spotted something that might give away when we can start kicking shell and eating pizza. The South Korean eShop listing for Shredder's Revenge lists the upcoming beat 'em up's release date as 15th June. That's in less than a week!
This could be an error, but if it isn't, then it sounds like our June is about to get a bit more radical. Rumours of a Direct are circulating too, but Nintendo is yet to announce anything. Summer Game Fest also officially kicks off tonight at 7pm BST, so we may hear more Shredder's Revenge info there.
Regardless, 2022 is an exciting year to be a Turtles fan what with this spiritual successor and The Cowabunga Collection

Any word on the price of the digital version?
Edit - Just found out the US version is only $24.99 on eShop, not bad at all!
Could be true, the 16th was rumoured a week or so back. Fingers crossed.
Nice... I'll get my wallet ready...
@Clyde_Radcliffe I’m thinking £34.99 which I’m pretty sure that’s what SOR4 was. However it might be more with it being a licensed game.
Edit: just seen your edit!
I don't believe it, that's way too soon.
Oh and regarding the Nintendo Direct it makes sense because this is about the time the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Pack Wave 2 should be announced
@Joriss How is that too soon regarding that the game was first to be release in 2021?
Well this is definitely shadow dropping during the Nintendo Direct on the 15th of June!
@F_Destroyer Seeing they just now announced all these limited editions, I reckon it would take a while for it to hit the shelfs. Unless the date is for the digital version only and psychical copies come at a later date.
Really looking out for this one. Is it a clue to a Nintendo Direct next week? 😃
@Joriss Yeah I feel like the digital version will predate the physical, unfortunately
It's been showcased in both an Indie World and a State of Play so I could see it being a day 1 on Game Pass announcement for Sunday's Xbox Showcase.
@Joriss those physical versions won’t ship until next year unfortunately.
@Orokosaki In that case I saved meself some money. Those limited editions look sweet but I ain't waiting another year.
Oh, Direct shadow drop maybe?
okay, so... there's a few of things pointing to a Nintendo Direct next week.
a leaked NDA document is out there, regarding review copies of Neon White, asking people to hold off on all review and footage until June 15th.
the same day as this leak here.
and there's Mario Kart 8 online maintenance planned soon. Direct would be a good time to announce the next set of DLC tracks, no?
so... yeah. Direct is probably gonna happen.
Release just after the Direct.
@Joriss you’d think with it being such a massively popular title that LRG would have them produced and ready to go but by past experience from pre-ordering with them the games don’t shop for 6-12 months. I’m not prepared to wait that long to play it.
A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one!
I had been hoping the Cowabunga Collection released before this. It would be nice to play the earlier titles first.
@CharlieGirl It may end up being Partner Showcase, EA leaked a Direct via Fe back in 2018 and people assumed it was a general Direct but turned out to just be a Mini.
@Grumblevolcano we did just have an indie world last month though
Please be true! Please be true! Please be true! Hopefully Summer Game Fest will reveal the release date today.
@CharlieGirl Indie World and Partner Showcase have been 8 days apart before.
Marked and forgotten. Was a fun type of game 25 years ago, not so much these days.
so so sooooo excited for this! It is going to be a blast
Fine by me, did pre-order my EU physical a while ago at my regular online place (I refuse to pay the LRG tax)
(Link for people wanting it: https://www.coolshop.co.uk/product/teenage-mutant-ninja-turtles-shredders-revenge/23BU6C/ )
Date is a placeholder I assume, it said the same when ordering it ages ago.
I need (want) a direct, my body is ready and it’s been ready all month!
@Rayquaza2510 Thanks for the link. Never heard of that site before.
Do they take the money from your account when you preorder, or when they ship?
@Jey887 I don’t remember because I ordered it a while back, but if not mistaken they do take it immediately.
But myself I prefer to have the money taken immediately, saves me remembering there is a upcoming bill especially with more expensive stuff.
Interesting! Feels like it could be a shadowdrop in a Direct. Exciting times!
@Rayquaza2510 cheers for that. Didn’t know it had a U.K. release and I’ve used coolshop loads before with no issues so I will order.
@Orokosaki Also it's not a LRG release, they are just an intermediate on this one, the game will hit store shelves.
That would be totally triumphant!
Absolutely buying as soon as possible and yes, more confirmation of the Direct that is 100% happening.
I heard from RGT on YouTube this was just a rumour and not officially confirmed. I hope it is next week but I doubt it.
“Shredder’s Revenge is available on the eShop later today.”
Seems like the type of game they would want to release right after a showcase of some sort - whether on Xbox or Switch, and I’m looking forward to it. Been saving aside some Microsoft points for just this purpose.
Still waiting....impatiently
I'm ready to shell out for this one.
Nice but a bit odd how this will be out before the TMNT Cowabunga Collection. I always thought the collection will be out first so to cater to fans until this one is finish.
@Clyde_Radcliffe that's not a bad price actually, definitely getting it on day one. So excited for this game!
@YoshiF2
Going off rumors, there was an action game supposed to shadow drop the day of the direct.
But like take that with a grain of salt.
That's sounds about right, fits in with all the leaks. I guess this is the major "indie" that gets the shadow drop during the direct as rumored (not Hollow Knight Silksong or Sports Story).
if it actually releases in a week i will cry
edit: yes
To all the doubters, it's on the Japanese eshop !
Oh and it's 2339 yen, about 14 quid
@Mikmoomamimocki start crying 😀
I have a friend who loves the old Turtles games and whose birthday is on June 16th. Awesome gift for him.
If only the Switch had a D-Pad 🥺
I can't wait. Now we just need a release date for the Collection.
I can die happily now lol. Now I just need the price, download size, and the ability to preorder & then I’m all set! lmao
Yes Casey Jones is in the house, day one buy indeed. 6 Players co-op, you bet we're gonna rock the house next week.
Very happy Casey Jones was added! And 6 player local and online? Awesome. Great that the digital release date is so soon! I'm dying to play it. But I'll be getting it physical (standard edition not any of the fancy extra versions), so I hope thats not far away so I don't get tempted to double dip out of frustration / fomo
Why is this not getting a regular physical release? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is not some kind of niche property.
@majinx07 Price is 25 dollars on Steam
@Rayquaza2510 Thanks for the heads up - ordered it right away
@Synecdoche Both Play-Asia and Limited Run Games will carry the physical versions. Play-Asia got the European version while Limited Run Games had the North American version. Pre-orders are set for Q3 of this year. Also DOTEMU is an indie dev team, they couldn't afford to mass produced this by themselves.
This is all I wanted to hear.
6 players online/offline, Casey confirmed, tight controls and gameplay, lots of enemies to fight, this game is gonna be awesome!
That trailer! Ahh! Take my money now.
A DATE......FFFFFING FINALLY!!
They didn't have to wait to summer game fest to announce this in order to get enough publicity. People are hyped enough already. Glad that the final wait will be short though.
Annnnd preordered it on the eShop. Now to play the waiting game lol.
Let’s see how many ‘physical copy only’ gamers stick to their guns come next Thursday!
@Synecdoche In addition to the excellent reply you got above, its also worth pointing out that though "Limited Run" is doing physical copies, they have stated that the base version is not limited edition, and will also be available at retail. They'll keep printing more as long as they are selling.
So cool we got Casey. If we can get just one more character we could have a complete set of non turtle characters to go thru the game with. Usagi, Slash, Metalhead, Fugitoid, Muckman or Mondo Gecko would all be good picks.
@Orokosaki Can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m very patient. Can’t imagine ever spending $25 for a digital file. For some reason digital goods are all but worthless to me. Looking forward to this cartridge.
No “Goongala! Goongala!” No buy!
j/k Day 1! (But hopefully Casey says it)
@FatWormBlowsASparky Then go get one. You got the option and it ain't that expensive.
❗️I'll just get this at GAME.
The bobble heads just take me out of this game lol. But I’m nitpicky on design that way
@Joekun enjoy the wait and let’s hope you get any DLC on the cartridge!
Not gonna day one, as I got a three different beat ‘em ups to play with buds, scott pilgrim, dragon crown, and castle crashers!
Will get this later though, I’m on a beat ‘‘em up high right now, for some reason.
@TYRANACLES Usagi, Karai, Mondo, Tatsu, or Venus would make a good 8th character.
@Snatcher That's a good plan cause over time this one would drop in price or goes on sale.
Eyyyy Casey Jones doh
My birthday is the 19th. Here's to hoping I get see eShop cards!
@Orokosaki Ooooh, that’s a nice thought! Hopefully it does get some nice DLC! Thanks
@Serpenterror Ikr? I can wait (:
The TMNT license is in good hands with these devs.
It’s going to be a looong wait for my cartridge to arrive. 😅
Freakin' 6 player mode?! xD
Its about time. Like seriously I feel like I've been waiting for an eternity for this and botw2.
@Orokosaki I believe it's coming to other retailers so while there may be a wait, it won't necessarily be a 6 month wait like with LRG.
Well, Casey Jones made a lot of sense for this, though they didn't tease him as clearly as April and Splinter. Nice to see they added him. I like the way this looks and a lot of the ideas in it. I absolutely get the sense that the devs really cared about this game and the Turtles IP. My only concern is the screen shake. I've seen far worse, but I find the effect typically is tiresome, and it looks annoying, especially in 4-6 player. I hope there is an option to reduce and disable that as some games do now. Plenty of beat-em-up games and other action games successfully convey a sense of impact without shaking the entire frame, so making it optional wouldn't take anything away. But, regardless, it looks good and I do hope to play it.
This has been confirmed as a day 1 release on GamePass. Yay!
I'm getting this game for the 6 player value. We need more great big-multiplayer games on switch! Smash doesn't count.
@Bizzyb Just saw Best Buy has the release date as 7/31, so you’re right. The wait isn’t too long. Preordered!
