Netflix has shared not one, but two teaser trailers for its upcoming Resident Evil series, showcasing a different yet intriguing take on Capcom's long-running survival horror franchise.
The first is available via all usual social channels, and depicts the Wesker family moving to 'New Raccoon City" in the year 2022, before showcasing a decimated London in the year 2036.
The second trailer took a bit of work to find (well, not that much), but we've got it right here for you lovely people. During the first trailer, a scene crops up depicting a website address - umbrellaisjoy.com - which takes you to a mock-up Umbrella website with lots of smiley faces and positive words. After a few seconds, the website glitches out and shows the second teaser trailer which, if we do say so ourselves, is much better than the first.
We'll take another look at both trailers ourselves and provide a more detailed breakdown of what's shown in a later post, so be sure to watch out for that. In the meantime, Resident Evil is scheduled to launch on Netflix on July 14th.
What do you think of the two teaser trailers? Let us know in the comments below!

It looks like it could be fun! I am hoping for lots of Easter eggs!
Looks good and I will watch it, but to be fair, they could have just made this as a separate zombie/monster series, they are just flogging the name for all it's worth
Could the storyline be any farther removed from the source material? Why even call it RE if all you'll do is use character names and nothing else?
@Daniel36 it's the older movies all over again.... And it's Netflix kinda their bread and butter
Resident Evil is suppose to be scary, this doesn't even come close to that. Feels more like The Walking Dead with the Resident Evil name slap on it.
Why is this called Resident Evil other than the fact there are zombies?
If you're not going to stick even remotely close to the source material just call it something else for goodness sakes....
Either way I hope it turns out to be a good show but geez, stop milking franchise names just for attention
The trailers are good and it looks like something I might enjoy, but just like others have pointed out, it really isn't Resident Evil...?!
It looks like a 28 Days/Weeks Later and Walking Dead hybrid, with some RE locations and characters thrown in.
I hope it turns out good still, but it is making me wonder if we'll ever really see a proper RE film.
@nocdaes Welcome to Raccoon City tried desperately to stick to the source material, and it was a disaster. I'm looking forward to this new take, personally.
@Olliemar28 that's not the fault of the source material, that's the fault of poor execution.
@Olliemar28 They desperately tried to fit 2 separate stories into 1hr and 30 mins...with a tiny budget...that movie was destined to fail.
"Welcome to Raccoon City tried desperately to stick to the source material."
The Resident Evil series has a fanbase, who are aware of the lore, and to suggest that that abomination of a movie tried "desperately" to stick to the source material falls somewhere between ill informed and deliberate gaslighting.
I'm looking more forward to Harry's and Meghan's Netflix show......sorry, I'm joking of course
@Bizzyb Lickers, Wesker, Zombies, Dogs, Giant Spiders, Umbrella Corp, T-Virus, RE3 Worm... As if we want another lame attempt to follow all the beats in the early games; we've been there, done that and it was rubbish. Hopefully something a bit different in the RE universe might prove to be interesting. Too many people taking a dump on it before they even see it.
I was put off with the teddy bear thing, I'm hoping its just a marketing ploy for advertising the pill and won't make an appearance bigger than that. (I hate the trope cute things [even though that thing is ugly] gone bad)
Ehh every Resident Evil film minus the first has been utter garbage so not too excited for a longer version of those.
I'll still watch it but I'll go in expecting a 2/10 so I have no chance of being disappointed.
Bring on season 2 of Arcane: LoL though, that show is brilliant.
It's Netflix. They'll cancel it after 1 or 2 seasons.
Doesn't look anything like the games, and why not use the games' protagonists? This will stink hard.
That second trailer is so much better than the first one, don’t watch that one
Was not expecting Wesker to be black, that'll take some getting used to.
As for the trailers, they're fine. I really hope it just leans in either a corny direction or a pure horror direction and not an awkward mish-mash of the two like that live action RE movie that came out relatively recently.
As long as it’s resident evil I’m happy 😃
