Update [Tue 8th Feb, 2022 01:35 GMT]: Good news, demon slayers - the Switch version of Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles has now been confirmed for the west, and will launch the day after the Japanese release on 10th June.
Pre-orders for the physical edition are now live on Sega's website. If you do take up this offer, you'll receive a bonus character unlock key for Kimetsu Academy Tanjiro Kamado.
Here's a bit of PR from Sega, and what to expect from the game:
"Switch players can look forward to all the amazing features found on other platforms, including all the post-launch content added to the game like the six new playable characters—Rui, Akaza, Susamaru, Yahaba, Enmu, and Yushiro & Tamayo; new online missions that reward Kimetsu Points to unlock additional rewards; and all the balance changes made to the game’s combat."
"It is the Taisho Period in Japan. Tanjiro, a kindhearted boy who sells charcoal for a living, finds his family slaughtered by a demon. To make matters worse, his younger sister Nezuko, the sole survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. Though devastated by this grim reality, Tanjiro resolves to become a “demon slayer” so that he can turn his sister back into a human and kill the demon that massacred his family. A sorrowful tale of siblings in which the fates of humans and demons intertwine… begins now!"
- Exhilarating Arena Battles – Master the multitude of spectacular skills of a wide roster of characters from the anime and the series’ official spinoff, including Tanjiro and Nezuko, to overcome challengers in head-to-head battle, locally and online.*
- Moving Drama – Take up the sword as Tanjiro Kamado and guide his journey to become a Demon Slayer and turn his sister Nezuko back into a human.
- Thrilling Boss Battles – Action and drama reach their peak in specially designed battles against powerful demons that will test Tanjiro’s mettle.
- Original Anime Voice Cast – The original English and Japanese voice casts of the anime return to bring their authentic portrayals to the game.
Original article [Thu 3rd Feb, 2022 05:45 GMT]: Aniplex and CyberConnect 2 have announced a Switch release for Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles.
In the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, it was revealed the game would be launching in Japan on 9th June for the price of 7,480 yen (about $65 USD). There'll also be a limited edition available - which includes Butterfly Mansion Patient costumes, Kimetsu Academy costumes and 16,000 Kimetsu Points (thanks, Gematsu).
The same title starring the demon slayer Tanjiro Kamado was previously released here in the west on PlayStation, Xbox and PC last October, and was published by Sega. If we hear anything about a local release, we'll be sure to give you an update.

I knew holding out would pay off. Will buy day 1!
so everyone (Playstation, PC, Xbox) else gets western releases but not Switch?
Alright, no money from me
good thing i can read and understand japanese a bit lol. i already know the story. i'm just gonna buy it for the fights and to play with friends and relatives
YESSS, Good thing comes to those who wait! Now if only we could get granblue next, getting this day one tho.
(Please come to the west)
Dreams do come true!
Too late! Everyone in Japan has already forgotten about Demonkey Slayerp (or Himitsu no Yakiba or whatever). Which is kind of nice because for a year or two it was the ONLY THING anyone under the age of 40 or so talked about, which got real old real fast.
@anoyonmus there's nothing that says that it won't come to the west
@kurtasbestos Something tells me you don't like demon slayer.
West asap pleace?
It's interesting that Aniplex made this game and is willing to have it on Xbox and Nintendo Switch considering Sony owns Aniplex.
Then again, the weirdest thing is still the Jumanji video game being only released on Nintendo Switch despite being based on a Sony movie.
@kurtasbestos
Looks to me like you hate things that become too successful.
So this is a fighting game, button smasher?
Officer, you smell... like a demon.
Pretty sure a western release is imminent but may be a few months out like all anime games. Demon Slayer is arguably the most popular new anime in recent years (it's sooooooooooo good). But games like these kinda suck and by the time it reaches west it will have ended its community competitive support, will skip buying since there are too many games for my wallet this 2022 year
day 1 when its in the west
Ehhh idk about this i heard the input delay on ps4 and xb1 is awful so I can’t even imagine how bad it’d be on switch
@Snatcher Ehhh... my wife and I tried to watch it, but just didn't get into it. Granted, we're both not into anime, and we have no interest in the whole "everyone carries swords" era of Japanese history (she's Japanese, by the way). But for me, it was mostly because as an elementary school teacher, I got pretty tired of kids coming up to me like 10 times a day and asking me if I knew about it. Not to mention the wall-to-wall swag that all the kids had. That's why I think it's funny that it's all but disappeared from the schools, and if I ask my kids if it's still popular, they're like "nah, now we're all into [some random thing I've never heard of because I'm old and crotchety]". And to be fair, it wasn't as annoying as the Pikotaro craze a few years back... man am I glad that everyone forgot all about that guy.
Oh dear god the voice acting is horrendous...
I really hope it'll be available with JP dub, because I'm not playing this game through with that EN dub xD
I would love it subbed but I would hope the UI can be changed to english. I would buy day 1 for Switch.
That was a fast turnaround
Love Demon Slayer so I'll definitely be picking this up.
@Hydra_Spectre Jumanji was released on all platforms.
@Orpheus79V There was another Jumanji video game (based on the original movie with Robin Williams rather than the reboot with The Rock) that was only released on Nintendo Switch and PC.
@Liam_Doolan Go to bed bro. Isn't it like 2am in England? We can wait for more stories after you get some rest. Lol
@Half-ShellHero He's in Australia.
Bought it on pc a few weeks ago on sale and been having a blast with it, great arena fighter with a lot of depth to its combat.
It's quite light on extra modes though (only story mode and local/online matches. The training mode is garbage, so I don't count that...), so I'd recommend checking first if this is something you'll want to play competitively, because that's all you can do once you're done with the story mode.
The hype Train is coming our way! lets go.
So is this an Ultimate Ninja Storm type of game? I used to be obsessed with those
I knew this was coming to the West. Now let's hope it's a port with some effort and care put into it.
@BTB20 Oh well. That makes more sense then.
@Bon_Kurei If so you will like this game.
@Snatcher Exactly what I was hoping for, thanks!
Can't wait to play as Akaza!
