The Artful Escape is a title that won plenty of critical acclaim last year when it arrived on PC and Xbox, and the very pleasing news is that it arrives on Switch next week - on 25th January.
As you can see in the trailer it's a hugely colourful, dynamic game - you play as a folk singer with aspirations and a passion to be an epic rock star. The story that follows is bonkers, surreal and certainly full of surprises.
It's a narrative experience for the most part, with some aspects of puzzling and platforming thrown in. It's a visual feast as the story plays out, and hopefully it'll stack up well in its Switch port; below is some of the official blurb:
* A story about great expectations, towering legacies, aliens, folk music, guitar solos, making stuff up, and living your dreams like memories.
* Musical jams. They’re visceral. They traverse dimensions.
* Craft your own stage persona from the sci-fi beginnings of your backstory to the trim on your moonboots.
* Converse, consult and chill with all manner of beings: disenchanted publicans, nostalgic villagers, lumbering alien wildlife, and reality-defying behemoths.
* Shred, soar and dance across the multiverse. Traverse landscapes made of sound — composed by your movement — as if the world itself were an instrument.
Are you planning to pick this up on Switch next week?

My bank account is reaching 0 scarily fast and this is really not helping! I am excited to play this though
Nice! Wonder how it’s gonna run on Switch though or what compromises they might have to make visually (if any), played it on Series S and it was stunning
Pokemon, Elden Ring, Kirby, Horizon Zero West....now this!! Pour one out for all of our wallets. I may skip on Pokemon in favor of Elden Ring and Kirby and Horizon Zero West. Those are my priorities, but god damn, too many games.
I obviously need to expand my video game sites I follow. Or maybe it's because I only game on the Switch. Never heard of this game and it seems to be the case for a lot of these smaller games that make their way to the Switch from other platforms..
@larryisaman In its favour is that it's 2D and the visuals are mainly chunky visuals rather than complex textures etc. It'll have compromises but the Switch has run a lot of games like this quite well.
Not sure, I'm already trying to save up for big title games coming out but they have no release date! (Splatoon 3, botw2,) though I don't think those games are coming out anytime soon, I only have $40 saved for the new Pokemon game, er was that to much information?! Sorry
Its an interesting experience but there's not a lot of gameplay in there!
The music and visuals are great, but...
What is the gameplay? Is this a platformer? Rhythm game? Story-based Adventure?
I so hope it is a long awaited sequel to Sayonara Wild Hearts — full of music and ambition!
@HolyGeez03 Mainly story focused. There are platformer bits and very light rhythm elements but nothing challenging at all, it’s about the visuals/story/music more than anything else. Easy recommendation on GamePass but as far as buying it I probably wouldn’t have paid more than £10.
Thanks for the info... It sounds like something that would be interesting to play though... But I will probably wait for a Steam Sale.
Promising, but I am a little skeptical
@Zverik Same here! I absolutely loved Sayonara Wild Hearts, and have adored everything else I've played by Annapurna so far, so I was pretty much on board with this game from the start.
More than pleasing, this is excellent news
