The Pokémon Company has just released its eighth episode of Pokémon Evolutions – a new animated series on YouTube.
While there's a lot to appreciate, one particular highlight for longtime trainers is the on-screen debut of the "technology is incredible" guy who you first meet in Pallet Town in Pokémon Red and Blue.
Although this NPC doesn't say anything in the anime series, if he did get a line, it's obvious what it would be. You can see this scene at around the 8-minute mark in the video above.
This character first showed up in the original games and has been a recurring NPC in the series since then. Here's a look at most of his timeline, courtesy of the YouTube channel Mixeli:
You can see all of the Pokémon Evolutions episodes over on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. What do you think of this cameo? Leave a comment down below.

I love the detail in these episodes, which reminds me, I need to finish watching all of them.
Green is REAL, she's finally canon in the series, but so much mystery remains!!! Like Silver what are their anime names? And when or if will they appear???
So, I'm not a Pokémon fan, but I recently discovered what Lavendar Town is all about. The thumbnail is giving me PTSD.
It took me until 2018 to finally realise why Pallet Town had that name. Pallet, palette, all the other towns have colour names... only took me 19 years to get it.
@PokemonDMG OMG your right!
@Rosalinho it only took me right now to get it (:
Watching the timeline video makes it seem like technology in the Pokémon universe peaked around the turn of the century and has just sort of stagnated since then.
The ability to store physical items and LIVING CREATURES as data in a PC and even send them THROUGH TIME seems a lot more impressive than wireless communication, online gaming, and smartphone/game console connectivity.
Apparently this guy is just very enthusiastic about any and all technology.
To be fair, technology is pretty incredible..
Ah yes, my favorite character has returned.
He needs his own spin-off in which he travels to spread the word.
Technology really is incredible.
This is my 2nd favourite recurring character in the series, after trash cans that are always empty.
I am actually impressed with myself that I caught this one.
Is the technology guy in Sword and Shield? I don’t remember bumping into him in SwSh.
@Wilforce Maybe he's Ball Head guy
@PokemonDMG Leaf/Green has been canon since she was made the ♀player character in FireRed/LeafGreen.
