Cris Tales is a JRPG that arrived in the Summer with a fair bit of attention, courtesy of bright visuals and interesting time manipulation mechanics at its heart - we gave it a recommendation in our review.
It's now had a major update that's rolled out and should be live now on the Switch. It adds some new content, while the press release also emphasizes that it delivers significantly decreased load times on Switch.
Today’s update adds a wealth of new features to the game, including the brand-new playable character Adri, who will unleash her robotic mechanisms on all who attempt to challenge her. She’ll be able to show off her abilities in the game’s all-new dungeon, which features exclusive enemies and a brand-new story.
Players will also have a chance to flaunt their skills in the new-and-improved Coliseum, where they’ll face off against waves of increasingly challenging enemies with fantastic rewards on the line.
Beyond these new additions, this update adds additional content to Cris Tales such as a new ending (including a brand-new cutscene), significantly decreases load times on the Switch version of the game and more.
It seems like it could be an ideal time to revisit the game or perhaps make a start, as the experience should now be somewhat slicker. Let us know if it's on your upcoming playlist, as always, in the comments below.

This is excellent news. Really enjoyed this game but had to put it down because the load times broke the flow so much
I was anticipating this game for a while, but I never bought it due to all the reports on absurdly long loading times.
I'm glad they fixed it, but now I've got other games going on at the moment, so I probably still won't buy this one yet. Oh well.
I really wanted to give this one a try, but never got around to buying it. I'll likely wait for a major sale at this point, but I'm glad they're improving the flow for the day I do play it.
The loading time was one of the few things holding me back from a buy. Glad to read they (ostensibly) fixed it.
@Meteoroid same here! I'm raring to give it a go but I want to finish Bravely Default 2 first
Oh, wasn't aware of the load times issue. I bought this back in the Black Friday sale but it was such a good sale that I've only briefly touched on it. Good to know that it will now run better when I have time to give it some broader consideration.
That's good, might consider picking it up now if I find a physical copy at a good price.
Waited desperately for this game and it turned out to be maybe my biggest disappointment of the year due to the load times. Credit to the team for addressing it when they could've just abandoned it.
Didn't get it yet because of the reviews talking about terrible load times, and I really dislike that. So this is a very good move. I did just get Saint's Row 4 though, for free (coins, on sale for just below 3 euro's, which is quite a deal). For this game I would really prefer physical though, unless it goes on an equally insane sale, before I decide to buy it physically.
Aside from fixing the load times, I'm glad they're giving the game a new ending. The current ending was really lousy.
@Browny It's half off right now. 😉
Funny I just finally broke the seal and loaded up the game and did the update.
Sale plus improvements sounds tempting. This has been loitering on my wish list for a long time.
I liked the looks of the game and bought physical back in the summer, but the backlog monster gobbled it right up. There are so many games competing for my attention right now, but I'm slowing down on purchases now so hopefully I can get to gems like this one that I haven't even played.
Shorter load times = much appreciation!
Just beat this a couple weeks ago. Really enjoyed the game, but those load times were agonizing.
This says the update is already out but when I go to update the game it says I already have the currrnt version which is 1.0.0.
