Among the many new features included in yesterday's Version 2.0.0 update in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is the addition of Villager visits, where Villagers either invite you round to their house for a nice chat and a game of cards, or come to visit you in your own home.
Seeing your Villagers walking around your home for the first time, judging every decoration decision you've made before casually flopping down in the middle of your living room to read a book, can feel a little surreal, but it sure is nice to have some company. Well, unless your house is full of cockroaches, at least.
You see, if you haven't played the game for a long time, your house will currently be swarmed with cockroaches. You'll spot them running around across your carpets, and unless you squash them (the poor things!) they'll stay there forever more.
Interestingly, with the new update, Villagers now have their own reactions to seeing cockroaches in your home. It's safe to say they're not best pleased:
No one wants a house guest to say that their humble abode is disgusting before running out the door, so you might want to consider cleaning up ASAP. If a Villager does come knocking before you get it sorted, well... You can always boot them off the island to avoid having to speak to them ever again?

Never had a roach problem with this game, lol. I take it that’s the only way to catch them huh? Not playing the game for awhile.
@shonenjump86
You can't even catch them to donate, the only thing you can do with them is step on them to kill them.
If you haven't played in half a year like I had, you may need to visit every room twice to exterminate them all.
You should never step on them in real life though.
I don't have them since few weeks, because I was preparing for the update, but yes I had them before so I had to squash multiple of them.
@shonenjump86 roaches appear after 2 weeks of inactivity I think.
I was halfway through killing roaches, yesterday, when Angry Brows unceremoniously invited himself around.
Cheeky Angry Brows.
Get it done, ASAP!
It should have a reward K.K. Cucaracha for killing all the cucarachas. 😆
But what if it’s Punchy or Bob or Stitches? They’re always on about bugs for friends, so, wouldn’t you be killing some of theirs? They’d leave horrified after called you a monster!
What about the villagers who constantly talk about having a deep loving relationship with the bugs that live in there houses?
I'm looking at you Hopkins. Give me a DYI that bugs that live in your house dictated to you then freak out because you see a cockroach? What's the deal, bro?
@RupeeClock @Ocaz I see, thanks for that.
This is a super clever way to add some more functionality to the roach system.
I can definitely see people actually keeping roaches around to prevent villagers from staying in their house while they decorate.
Roaches... Finally have a purpose! This new update is insane.
I play daily, even a few minutes so I guess I'll never see the roaches lol.
Unrelated but I went into this update/dlc 99% blind (only knew about the Happy Home Design and cafe) and actually had no idea there were new villagers. Got Marlo on my DLC island.
@HeadPirate Boomer does that as well on my island, all he talks about is bugs.
I actually had roaches and Tipper just stayed in my house.. maybe because they just weren't in the main room. But I learned if you immediately run upstairs and come back, they'll say "hey, I've been here long enough" and they'll just leave. I don't like having animal visitors, only other players. Trying to finish making my diner/café here.
Lol. I posted one of these on my tiktok 2 days ago!
