UK physical chart data is now in for the week ending 18th September, revealing that four Nintendo titles made it into the top ten this week.
Last week's number one WarioWare: Get It Together! has managed to hold firm in the top ten, falling down to eighth place in its second week on sale, while evergreen stars Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Minecraft and Animal Crossing: New Horizons continue to shine.
Further down the pecking order, Switch exclusive Cruis'n Blast just managed to sneak into the top 40 by landing in 37th spot. The game seems to have picked up a modest but passionate fanbase over its first few days on sale, with a common thought being that Nintendo could – and possibly should – have put more effort into marketing what is a hugely entertaining racer.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:

I think Cruis’n Blast will probably do better digitally and it deserves good sales. Considering Nintendo owns the IP I don’t get the lack of marketing from them. So bizarre. It’s such an awesome game!
Nintendo really spent lots of time, effort and money marketing this arcade exclusive.
I'm sad that Mario 3D World has dropped out of the top 10...it deserves to sell billions! Such a fantastic game.
I actually have no idea what sort of numbers you're selling at no. 37? Hopefully, enough to make a Trilogy compilation viable.
I was glad to see Digital Foundry do a video on Cruisn Blast. Also glad to see so many passionate and positive reviews. The game deserves to do very well, that's for sure!
I didn't see Cruis'n Blast in either of the eShop top 30 charts all week...
@sixrings @FragRed Because Nintendo isn't actually the publisher, that's why. They could do some things to help out though like a Tetris 99 theme, plus encouraged them to put out a demo?
Unfortunately Raw Thrills said they might only add online play if the game sells well... Seems rather a backwards way of going about things as it would probably have sold better with online play from the start...
People are loving this game, but it's certainly weird how Nintendo hasn't made any marketing. And I see very few reviews out there, and the ones that got published suffered some kind of review embargo, unexplicable with a game like this. I think that hurt the sales a lot.
People that has played it loves it, and a lot of comments they get go in the lines of "wow, it looks interesting, didn't know about it". And that's a problem.
Besides, the physical version is really cheap, even cheaper than digital! (well, that's what always happens day one, at least)
I bought Cruise n Blast digitally as it was only around 4 gb and I need to cut down on physical games. It is an excellent game and I’d like to see it higher up on that list.
I agree with the article. It amazes me that after the Direct, Nintendo literally 'forgot' the game.
I didn't see a single tweet about it after its release.
I'm sure it would help the sales of the game.
Specially when it's a genre missing on the Switch.
On the other hand, I'm glad to see that it made to the top 40 without much marketing, it proves that there are many players out there interested in these classic IPs.
Hopefully it will sell enough to encourage the devs to make the trilogy package.
@Moroboshi876 @tourjeff Once again Nintendo isn't the publisher of the game. It's basically like how SEGA wasn't involved with Streets of Rage 4. It's essentially a third party release.
Hope Cruis'n Blast will sell well overall. I think a lot of people would enjoy it more than Warioware (I know I am!), so it would be a shame if people overlook it.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart position was fluctuating. 😕
Sometimes on Top 10, sometimes out of Top 10.
Tales of Arise already out of top 10?
@Anti-Matter when the PS5 is in stock, people are buying the console and Ratchet alongside it. The PS5 stock situation fluctuating is what dictates the sales of Ratchet and Spider-Man it seems.
I wanted to buy it physical but where I am right now (Spain) is kinda hard to find a physical edition of this game for some reason. The game looks interesting and I'd like another racing game on Swtich aside from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Shame it doesn't have online tho.
Also, it's weird how Nintendo didn't really promote this game after E3. Not even in the News section of the Switch or in the Promoted section of the eShop appears right now despite being a recent published game Nintendo had a hand on (even if they don't fully own it apperantly).
@Anti-Matter It's probably due to the PS5 stock issues and game prices. The spikes on sales are probably when bundles of PS5+those games appear in the wild and such.
Cruis'n hasn't been a relevant brand on game consoles for nearly 14 years, so I'm surprised it charted at all. Even No More Heroes has had a bigger presence than Cruis'n over the last decade.
Decent 2nd week drop for WarioWare. It will be interesting to see how well it fares going into the holidays, especially once Mario Party SuperStars launches.
@Clyde_Radcliffe it definitely is on the top 30 of the US eshop as we speak.
I’m not sure Cruisin Blast was ever going to do particularly well but it doesn’t help that physical copies are very scarce. Argos haven’t bothered at all and Shopto, Base, Game Collection are all sold out.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I must retract my comment. Actually, found out that NoA did tweet about it on the 14th.
And, I think you are wrong when you say that if Nintendo is not the publisher they don't advertise the games.
If you check their twitter account you'll see then twitting about everything, including Puma range of Animal Crossing shoes.
Other examples are, Doom, Fortnite, Sonic etc...
With Nintendo going all in on Metroid hype and Cruisin being in a nice genre called 'arcade racing' this was to be expected.
I was hoping Cruis'n would chart higher... It deserves a much higher position. Really pleased with my physical copy. To anybody on the fence I would suggest picking it up... A great arcade racer.
I picked up Crusi'n Blast digitally... its a really great game.
@Clyde_Radcliffe I know, but there was a lot of press coverage of SOR4, yet Cruis'n Blast didn't even have reviews ahead of its launch for people to 1. know about it and 2. Make an informed decision. So yes, they can still buy it, but without preorder bonuses, discounts, et cetera.
Bought Cruis’n Blast over the weekend. If you want fun arcade games buy it too. The Switch needs more of these types of games and not endless amounts of JRPGs and pixel platformers.
I'm really glad for Arkane that Deathloop has done so well. It's on my list for sure once I'm done with Returnal.
good game but need more attention on the future releasing more tracks and new cars
Loving Cruis’n Blast with my kids. Being able to race as a Unicorn or a Dino has blown my kids minds! Classic couch multiplayer in this house like it’s the 90s
Disappointed to see Tales of Arise out of the top 10, but it's already one of the best selling Tales games of all time, so I can't be too upset.
Hoped to see Cruis'n do better as well. I haven't gotten it, but I liked USA & World as a kid, so I'd be happy if it had a successful revival.
Cruis’n Blast was sold out at most of the GAMEs around me based on their online stock checker on launch- the one nearest to me said “low stock” and there wasn’t a case on the shop floor, had to ask at the tills for it. Wonder if it had a seriously limited run…wouldn’t surprise me.
I know Nintendo have very little to do with this game outside of lending out the IP to Raw Thrills but it feels like a missed opportunity on their part. Would have been nice to have them get properly involved with publishing and give them extra funding to get online modes etc. in there. Nintendo just don’t care about any racing property they have that isn’t Mario Kart and that really sucks.
Stores seem to be behind in stocking Cruis'n. I had to visit a bunch of stores to find a copy, and even then it wasn't on the shelf but still in their backroom.
Cruis’n Blast is so much fun! Can not stop playing it
@Jamie_R I usually wait for a sale, but I wanted to support this title. Love arcade racers, and yes, very tired of certain genres…
@electrolite77 I went to four separate big box stores where copies were over a week out (even Amazon says it's a month out from shipping). Then I found a copy at an independent game store near my work. So glad I found it! I'm really enjoying my time with it so far — even though I don't like accelerating with the "A" button...
My cruzin blast arrived Saturday evening but didn’t get around to trying it till yesterday. The game is greatness and they need to remake all the others for the switch. Tony hawk 1&2 and cruzin are two of my favorite switch games this year. Feels like it’s the 90’s again with these great games. Cruzin is short but the replay value it sky high if you like to find and unlock everything. It’s basically Mario kart with only cars(vehicles) and your not on a track but a road. Gotta max out everything for Tony hawk and cruzin and that’s gonna take some serious time.
@120frames-please As much as I had to give Digital Foundry credit where credit is due, I was a bit disappointed that even they don't know that Nintendo own the Cruis'n series and continue to speak nonsense that the Cruis'n games are just nothing more then third party titles. They even mention about a sort of PC port of Cruis'n Blast which doesn't even exist then you had their low brain fanbase wishing for a Steam port. Like how hard is it to do research on the series before making such claim. I respect their love for the game but their credibility to me has been fallen as of late.
Cruis'n Blast has been really fun, glad I bought it.
So this just happened…
I’ve been playing cruzin on an off today between mowing the yard ect… well I started the game on the easiest setting yesterday just to get a feel and work my way through the game. I’ve 100% the easiest setting all tracks gold with the first car…. Purchased the ufo and went through it again with the same outcome. Today I moved up to the next difficulty…. 100% gold the first set of races moved on to the second set and got 2nd place for the first time since I started playing yesterday (probably 70 races deep as each race is like under 1.5 minutes)….. anyways…. I instantly held the home button and closed the game without even thinking about it lol. I don’t think I’ve rage quit a game since the 90’s as well. It has to be a great game if I wanna keep playing but rage quit because I got second for the first time ever haha. It just happened. Very happy with cruis’n blast.
I do wish there was an option to turn the blast off and make it like the O.G cruzin where it’s just straight up racing but I’m not complaining and I haven’t looked maybe it is an option. But I really do hope the other games get a fresh coat of paint and the original is like the arcade….. with a blast option haha.
Anyways I just rage quit for the first time since probably ps2 days and I wanna keep playing and that makes blast a blast to me.
Hope Raw Thrills are happy with how it performed. I dare say it might do better in the US. But the fact I know a couple of people having to hunt around for a copy, I dare say they are ok with it's sales (maybe even surprised.)
I think it was a small batch of physical copies made available everywhere. I wanted to pick it up day one and when I was looking around at stock in stores online the day off the closest place that had it available for pickup was about 100 miles away…. I’m sure they will be more then happy with the sales. I have enough to play so I just ordered for delivery along with grand theft horse haha. Idk if I’ll ever open that one though. With such poor reviews for rustler it might be worth it to keep that one wrapped up. I could see physical crusin blast holding its value too because I do think COVID is affecting the amount of stock produced and are pushing digital. Anyways yes it’s a hunt in the US as well…… basically for anything that ain’t Mario or Zelda.
@Gorfvic20
Well played finding one. I think I got the last copy off Amazon and am going to pick it up from a Locker today. Was in the Arcade with my kids at the weekend and me and the 7-year-old had a great time on the machine there so looking forward to it.
@Specter_of-the_OLED I guess the small size of the dev team who made it is kind of like a 3rd party situation. Maybe Raw Thrills is kind of like a second party developer? Anyways, I loved the video. And I'm definitely sometimes a low brain person! : )
