This is exciting news. I loved Spelunker World and Spelunker Party. Really wish it weren't a Q3 title though.
For about a full 5 minutes I was questioning why the new Spelunky had graphics like that. Confusing how similar the two series are!
Kewl Kewl!!! but I just can't over the fact that the character look like from old 3D Model Stock CD from the 90s. 😬
Spelunker Party was both great and terrible (way too easy to unintentional fall off a ladder while climbing it in later levels).
Do I want more...I'm thinking probably not and that Spelunky will do it for me?
@DockEllisD Is this the correct one? 🙂https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B08ZYSC5HB/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_glt_i_9R9VB4VKQG1ACN19QHYP?psc=1
Downright hated the NES version of this game.
Zero nostalgia, hard pass.
You just gotta love cave dwelling game like this. Love that you could switch between modern and 8-Bit style. I'm also glad it's through Strictly Limited Games and not Super Rare Games. Strictly Limited Games don't take that long to shipped their goods compare to Super Rare Games and their almost two years of hibernation just so you get an update on shipping.
@DockEllisD Thank you. 🙂
Why promote Strictly Limited's release when there's a retail Japanese release with English support?
They only just shipped my copy of Space Invaders Invincible Collection after pre-ordering it 11 months ago!
I intend to import the Japanese (or Asian?) copy of this instead. I enjoyed the Japanese version of Spelunker Party, but there was no English support on the cartridge. I knew that going in, of course, and I should probably go back and finish it.
I'll only consider grabbing Strictly Limited's release if they have it on hand (like Super Rare Games do with their releases).
@Ghost_of_Hasashi You've got your boutique companies mixed up. Strictly Limited takes forever to ship product. Super Rare doesn't open orders for their games until the product is in house.
@Magician : Super Rare doesn't do pre-orders (except for bundles which may include unannounced games). All of their products are on hand. They order a specific number of their games, and once they're gone, they're gone.
LRG has open pre-orders, so you could theoretically order as many copies as you want within the window.
@Silly_G Kind of true, kind of not. SRG Club members can place their orders two days in advance before the general public are able to. In that sense, it absolutely is a preorder.
@Magician : Sure. I can't imagine why anybody would want to become a member though considering that the majority of their releases are underwhelming.
@Silly_G I don't agree but I respect that opinion.
Got enough contrasting art styles in your collector's edition there?
Cool. Keep the old hits coming.
@Magician too hard for you huh?
I think I played the original Spelunker back in the Colecovision days, but maybe I'm just mixing it up with Miner 2049'er.
I've been waiting for the indie hit Spelunky to release on Switch and I'd be interested in hearing how it compares to Spelunker HD Deluxe. Maybe this one has a better campaign mode or is better for multiplayer, whereas Spelunky is more single-player roguelike fun? I'd probably enjoy either one...
@Dirty0814 Yup, too difficult. Meticulous action/adventure/platformers are not my jam. I play games to relax and unwind, not to become frustrated.
I thought Amazon JPN had one like this that I ordered?
