Hamster's Arcade Archives series delivers more retro goodness on the Nintendo Switch eShop this week.
The latest release is yet another Taito game. This time it's the 1981 arcade shooter Space Cruiser. As the player, you'll take on the role of a space cruiser captain in 2100 AD - patrolling space to ensure peace on Earth.
You'll also be required to incept enemies, go beyond the asteroid belt, and power up your ship at space stations. Here are some screenshots from the official press release:
You'll be able to download this title for $7.99 USD or your regional equivalent. Will you be adding this to your retro library? Tell us below.

Haven’t heard of this one. Looks decent. At about half the price, I would pick up a lot more of these titles.
One step closer to Taito’s Qix…
2100 AD?
Well, that leaves us one year to finish this war before all our bases are belong to CATS.
More Taito classics!!, Great!! ^^
Ok, waiting for Cleopatra Fortune, Puchi Carat and more!
@KingMike We really need Zero Wing on Switch
Nice to get another Taito classic that didn't make the cut during the PS2 years on the Taito Legends and Taito Memories compilations.
Is this the closest to Pheonix being released? Find out next week. Or the weekafter next. Ooor the week after that one...etc etc.
They need to release Elevator Action Returns that would be a day 1 purchase for me. The PS2 Taito Memories emulation is terrible and there’s loads missing such as the lights flickering when you Shoot a light out!.
This looks good.
Unless there's some games I'm unaware of (feel free to let me know of any you have come across) it feels like there's a gap in the market for a genre that sits somewhere inbetween your traditional Schmup and Space Invaders.
I'd love something that has this look and feel but then mixed with some Star Fox and No Man's Sky elements of story telling, exploration and depth of gameplay.
The Amiga 500 mini announcement made me think of the game "Captive" the other day (one of the best title songs of the Amiga era incidentally) - throw in some of those concepts but with a modern execution and you could have something very special and, to the best of my knowledge, unique.
I think I'll buy this, looks pretty good Caravan mode adds so much to these old games.
@KateGray Does this count as the crab news for today? Space Crabs invading!
I want lunar lander , galaga , galaxian , galaga 88 , phoenix , space invaders & pac-man
@Would_you_kindly Sounds like you need to grab Namco Museum, Space Invaders Collection and Atari Classics.
(Can't help with Pheonix, but this game is quite similar.)
@GrailUK @Would_you_kindly Got both of the Namco Museum Archive collections for $5 a pop in a sale recently. Totally worth it at that price.
@GrailUK oh, totally! look at those lil pinchers!
@Ralizah didn't see them in any sale o would've got them at that price aswell
I would love for them release Jungle Hunt or Jungle King, but I have a feeling they now view those games like Disney views Song of the South.
I'm still hoping/waiting for a new Bust-A-Move from Taito!
Think it could potentially even fit really well in the "99" Online Battle Royale format on Switch with some new updated gameplay mechanics & quirks.
I need an Arkanoid but with a special controller
Get an Atgames ultimate legends arcade cab, spinners and trackball, built in on these systems And play games like Arkanoid, Tempest, Missile command, the way they were supposed to be played.
