Nintendo of America seems to be on a quest to team up with various food products and services in recent months, because people like to eat and also play games, we suppose? In any case, a new partnership has been born with 'Edible', serving up some rather tenuous ties to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
For those unaware, Edible is a company that specialises in snacks and treats that are presented almost like a bouquet of flowers, though we've noticed a recurring ingredient in descriptions is 'swizzle'; everyone likes some swizzle. The speciality is preserved fruit of various kinds covered in chocolate, sugars and swizzle, with presentation to suit special occasions.
The press release gives a good idea of what'll be on offer, along with some typically effusive comments from company executives.
“By partnering with Edible, we hope you’ll be able to add some Nintendo-themed festivities to your day,” said Nick Chavez, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “With summer kicking into high gear, it’s a great opportunity to give that next milestone in life an extra boost, whether it’s in honor of winning a big race, or simply sharing a smile with someone you love.”
“We are excited to partner with Nintendo,” said Somia Farid Silber, Vice President of eCommerce at Edible®. “As we continue to leverage our niche in the digital-forward gifting space, we are thrilled to announce this activation featuring exclusive new products to help you celebrate those special occasions.”
Edible® offers a wide selection of delicious fresh fruit arrangements, baked goods from its Edible Bakeshop™ brand and other treats. With the new Nintendo and Edible partnership, you’ll be able to gift friends and loved ones Mario Kart 8 Deluxe inspired surprises beginning July 12 in the U.S. and Canada. From game night to date night, to birthdays and back-to-school bashes, get ready to deliver some turbo-charged smiles. Let the people in your life know you’re thinking of them with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe themed treats and Super Mario themed balloons!
For a mid-summer Nintendo Switch party spectacle, why not splurge on the new Rainbow Road Arrangement? Like its acclaimed Mario Kart course namesake, this arrangement features a dazzling array of colors, comprised of fresh pineapple coins and stars, swizzle rainbow berries, grapes and melon.
If you’d like to make someone’s birthday feel extra festive, the Cookie & Fruit Power-Up Birthday Bundle features dipped fresh fruit, pineapple stars, cookie sandwiches and a Super Mario Themed Birthday Balloon. Or, when you need to make a grand gesture, nothing says, “I care,” quite like the vibrant Flower Cup FruitFlowers® bundle. If you’d like to see the full suite of sweet-natured Nintendo-themed gifts, glide on over to Edible’s website. Plus, Edible offers the convenience of same-day and free next-day delivery.
There's also a planned giveaway / sweepstakes of Nintendo Switch systems with a copy of MK8 Deluxe, though at the moment the link simply points to the website's page for the themed packages - so by all means browse the full range. Each purchase apparently comes with 100 Platinum Points for My Nintendo too, randomly!
There you have it, Nintendo of America's latest random food tie-in; if you feel like your delicious fruit is lacking a Nintendo theme, chocolate and swizzle, you know where to go.

Ngl thought Nintendo was going ultra progressive with edibles when I first read the headline. I mean being home of the Mushroom Kingdom n all....
Just dawned on me that the Edible here is what I had always known as Edible Arrangements. Didn't realize they shorten the name. I saw an Edible delivery car the other day and thought they were another company ripping off Edible Arrangements.
And I too read this headline thinking we were talking about a different kind of edibles, which would actually be an interesting and fitting mashup all things considered
I used to work near an Edible Arrangements store, which ended up saving me in multiple situations by bringing a last minute gift for basically any occasion, and it's always gone over really well. They are pretty pricey, all things considered.
No lie tho, I'd be stoked if someone got me one of these and it came with 100 Platinum points because I'm exactly that kind of nerd.
(Edit: Now that everyone else is 'fessing up that they thought these were about the other kind of edibles, I admit that I, too, was confounded for a brief moment)
It's been 7 long years...
Is Nintendo going to spend it's entire holiday marketing budget explaining how 3 and 4 year old games and even older Wii and Wii U ports look so much better on an OLED screen? 🤷♂️
Edibles. Allll right then.
$10 of fruit for $80, now with Mario!
❗Make them vegan or Nintendo can't be the 'family-friendly' company they claim to be.
@CammyUnofficial Same!!! 😂 Just got legalized in the state I’m from so it made sense in my head until I further analyzed the article. Lol
These look s***
These look so good, super nice for all you guys over in the Muricas.
Given my current state of mind, I saw edible and thought something else! 😂 I was like, what happened to the family friendly image!? 🤷🏾♂️ 😂
when y'all were talking about this in the work chat this morning, I very much thought it was, you know, EDIBLES. I didn't think to question it, though. I mean, Mario's always eating weird mushrooms anyway.
Edibles but are they yummy on my tummy ?
@YoungLink64 OLED will sell, but I am genuinely curious if they'll promote the brighter OLED screen for Mario Party and Advance Wars ports or just the games?
Nintendo wins either way, either more people spend $350 on 4 1/2 year old hardware or people spend $200 on Lite instead. Then they can upgrade to Lite OLED next year for $250 when it launches. 😉
I'm assuming normal Switch will go away at some point, 3 Switch seem like 1 too many. Will have to watch stock levels in Aug & Sept.
What's this about Nintendo making edibles? Generally not a fan because they stay in your system way too long, but I'll still give 'em a try. I'll keep my eyes open when I hit up the liquor store!
And here I was thinking edible panties...
@Deppasois
No way!
I want my chocolate-dipped bacon-wrapped strawberries!
When I saw this title, I absolutely misunderstood what you were talking about. When talking about "edibles" where I live, they are perfectly legal but not for children.
@CammyUnofficial That what we refer to is considered a progressive thing still baffles me. Most of the opponents of it are always arguing against regulation and for the free market. Yet they oppose themselves on this one thing because it's popular with people they don't like, or still believe in fictional propaganda from the 1920s...
@YoungLink64 Thanks. I won't be surprised when nothing like any of that happens, I can never figure Nintendo Logic out, they befuddle me.
Man, I wanna try those… but I don’t think they’ll sell them here down under
@Spider-Kev I'm not a vegan or a vegetarian but am trying to reduce the amount of meat and dairy I eat.
However, giving up milk chocolate🍫 is nigh-on impossible and I wont give up chicken🍗
Nintendo should spread their IPs into energy drinks or Ice cream. Example: Donkey Kong ice cream with the flavor of banana and chocolate. Pikachu brand energy drink.
