Twitter users this week got quite the surprise when the social media platform announced it would allow "bigger and better" images to be shared within tweets. Basically, photos will now be displayed in all their glory.
Apart from users, video game companies have also joined in on the celebrations by sharing extra tall and wide photos. Earlier today, Nintendo of America tweeted a full-size render of Pokey from the Super Mario games.
Of course, this didn't stop fans from speculating about what else it might mean... If you want to see the lower half of the Pokey, head on over to Twitter.
Nintendo Europe and Australia also shared a few more images. One of Mario on a flag pole and the other of a Piranha Plant:
And here are some other gaming companies who have used this as an opportunity to promote their own products and series:
What do you make of the Pokey Nintendo posted? Think it could lead to anything else? Share your thoughts down below.

@Ulanda bro saaaaame
@Ryan_Again Private companies don't owe anybody a platform.
@Ryan_Again Imo I don’t have a problem with liberal politics at all (Bernie Bro) but Twitter is just a toxic place in general for both political sides. Just don’t use Twitter. I just stopped using it and my life is much better. Deadass, just delete it.
@BreathingMiit Exactly this. If people don’t like Twitter don’t use it.
Man, imagine being so consumed with your own political grievances that you can't even hold them in reading a NintendoLife fluff piece on image formatting, of all places.
Life is tough, eh?
@Ryan_Again @Fath @kducky11
Yea! Ross Perot runs a ghost tattoo parlour that sells illegal poptarts to the USSR and Dukakis 1988! Show the Whigs we don't need their anti-parlimentarian robber-barons anymore! Finally someone has the guts to stand up to those socialpitalists!
@Ulanda Yes. 100%.
F*** hate Twitter, there just the worse and on top of that anyone you meet on there (Other then family and friends) is trash and the most toxic place on the planet, I wouldn't shed one tear if they were gone. (its good for gaming news I guess)
That Rare image just makes me want Rare Replay again... aside from the ugly Banjo render that makes the goofy bear look he’s auditioning for a Pepe Le Peu remake...
@Ulanda I second that motion!
@Ryan_Again Take it to the Fox News forums dude. Keep it gaming here. People don't come here for political grievance news, especially from someone with a complete misunderstanding of the concept of "free speech."
@Ryan_Again Article 19
1. Everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference.
2. Everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice.
3. The exercise of the rights provided for in paragraph 2 of this article carries with it special duties and responsibilities. It may therefore be subject to certain restrictions, but these shall only be such as are provided by law and are necessary:
(a) For respect of the rights or reputations of others;
(b) For the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals.

You needed this.
@BreathingMiit they do when they basically operate a monopoly. Plus, they’re not allowed to editorialize or have a political spin under Section 230 or they lose their protection from lawsuits over content. It’s free speech or lawsuits. So hopefully the lawsuits are coming.
I feel like I'm using Twitter different from the others. You see, I only follow people who I'm interested to hear from. My timeline will not have any toxic waste on it, because I'm fine with removing people from follows if they can't behave themselves.
So... I don't know, I find Twitter a useful source for news and haven't really had issues with it.
There was a twitter crop??
Nice for those that use Twitter, but I would rather stay away from that place
Finally some justice for Alolan Exeggutor.
Its so cursed that rare used nuts and bolts banjo for that image.
@Xiovanni same here, that would be sweet
@Ryan_Again @Ryan_Again I hope you are not thinking something like true "free speech" exists. No matter where you go there are always some sort of rules and regutions against speech, like no racism and other hate speech, spreading of false information etc.. So yea, not gonna happen. If Twitter didn't regulate speech, it would be like 100x more toxic than it already is... Though I think Twitter is good for announcements by gaming companies and such, stuff like what this article shows....
@gaga64 honestly, why they gotta do Banjo like that though. He looks like if he had a dirty cameo in Conker or something. 😩
They're still being cropped on my end. :c
@Goat_FromBOTW correct opinion. Ty goat man
Unfortunately, I can't see this difference in a feed because the damn site keeps redirecting to mobile mode no matter what settings I use!
I would like the removal of Twitter as a whole. That site is complete trash, filled with nothing but bullies, and has only done bad for the world. Twitter needs to die ASAP.
@Xiovanni Same here, dude. I was so excited and I thought Twitter finally died.
@Milenko can't handle other people's opinions? Or is it no longer allowed to have one? Get used to it, it is how the world works.
@Milenko first of all you don't know me and second of all, I have experience with Twitter. If you say that I should ignore things that I find negatively or toxic, you are delusional.
I left that platform over a year ago after 9 active years of usage. A real cesspool too often.
