Demon Gaze EXTRA, an enhanced version of the original Demon Gaze for the PS Vita, is coming to Switch, it has been revealed by publisher Kadokawa Games.
Original developer Experience will still be involved, but will be collaborating with Cattle Call this time around. A PS4 version is also being released alongside the Switch edition.
Boasting enhanced visuals, better controls and the promise of extra story content, Demon Gaze EXTRA launches in Japan on September 2nd and will cost 7,480 yen. A limited edition will also be available, costing 11,480 yen.
The original Demon Gaze was published on the PS Vita back in 2013, and would find its way to the west a year later. Our pals over at Push Square gave it 6/10, saying:
It may not be genre-defining, but Demon Gaze provides Vita owners with a somewhat entertaining – albeit gruellingly difficult – introduction to first-person dungeon crawling. Despite its imperfections, an array of handy gameplay mechanics coupled with a colourful cast of characters provides just enough intrigue to justify the thirty-or-so hours that you'll spend level grinding your way through this adventure. Oh, and Hatsune Miku fans, did we mention that there's a vocaloid soundtrack?
A sequel, Demon Gaze II, arrived on PS Vita and PS4 in 2016, and also made it to the west.

Ironically the one I already have on Vita, unlike the sequel, but certainly a double-dip as usual if it comes westward.

...Wow... In Japan, it was a free PS Plus game years ago, and both I & II went on sale for just 500 yen at least two times.
It's a fun game though.
It was a fun game. Can't compare to Etrian Odyssey, of course, but it was one of my favorite dungeon crawlers on the platform.
I'm surprised they're not bringing it over along with its sequel in the same package, though.
This sounds like something I could get into. Push Square's score for this is on the low end btw, most of its reviews are pretty positive.
I have a feeling all these PS Vita FPDCRPG's (in line with genres being messed up) are making it to the Switch, which isn't a bad thing. Currently playing a couple of them at the same time actually (well, not ACTUALLY at the same time...). Really enjoying Labirynth of Refrain, which I got physically (not the limited edition) of NIS Europe official website for less then €10. (£6,66 I believe, or even less because currently there are no taxes when you import to Belgium from UK, but shipping added quite a bit again. Still way cheaper and the eShop sale that was going on at that moment, and WAAAAY cheaper than it's standard eShop price)
If it's anything like Unchained Blades then I may give it a try. Though UB had a repetitive battle system which I tend to get tired of, its interesting story and dialogues kept me playing til the end. Hopefully this game deliver a similar experience.
Are there any dungeon crawlers that don’t have skimpy outfits with big round shiny boobies? They DON’T have to go hand in hand, you know…
Either way I’ll take a look at it when it releases and assess.
EDIT: I watched the trailer and there’s not even any gameplay footage! Not my favorite kind of game trailer.

That's what Etrian Odyssey is for. The wait must continue for EO6. (although I'm still new to the series and have plenty of entries to play)
@VoiceofMidnight Yeah, that would be nice! One thing though... EO feels perfect for the DS/3DS dual screens. Wonder how they'd solve it on Switch?
@Radbot42 agreed! Etrian Odyssey is phenomenal. I’m really looking forward to a new entry but I really liked using the touch screen with the stylus for my map charting on 3DS. Excited and scared to see how it’s implemented on Switch.

I see dungeon crawler, and I'm automatically summoned! I love these games, and like my fellows gamers already commented, I would love to see Etrian Odyssey on switch (EO6 AND untold 3). Color me interested, I'll go read the review on pushsquare
@Quarth Simple. The Switch has a touchscreen for portable mode and make it intuitive enough for normal controls.
Loved this game on the Vita and will happily buy it again on the Switch!

I miss western dungeon crawlers with 2D art.
Only the Japanese are keeping it 2D. The western genre entries are all full of horribly bland 3D-models, be it monsters, characters, or even weapons and environments.
I love dungeon crawlers but PlayStation can you give us ports for the Gravity Rush and Danganronpa series already.
This sounds and looks like it may well be something I would like.
I looked at the screenshot shown, then read "PS Vita" and it clicked.

I LOVE Demon Gaze and Demon Gaze 2, especially after getting both the PS4 and Via versions.
Tbh, I'm a fan of EXP Inc.'s titles in general so I'll tend to support them more than not, but Demon Gaze just ticks off all the right check boxes in just the right ways so the move to the switch would be more than welcome, especially if you want my money... provided you guys don't cut content and just give us the full package right from the start.
That said, yeah! Bring it over!
We got Atudents of thecRound and Stranger of Sword City's remakes, so just give us Demon Gaze 1 & and 2! I'll happily bleed money for those 2 gems! Honestly, that's kinda the reason I got the switch to begin with.... Nintendo's been delivering the uncensored JRPG gems I love and literally find anywhere else without knowing more kanji.... and I'm poor.
The more vita RPGs to Switch, the better.
