Bowser's Fury

After what has been the busiest week in the Nintendo world for some time – feel free to catch up on everything that was announced during this week's Nintendo Direct here – it's finally time for us to catch a breather and chat about our weekend gaming plans.

Members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

Hello everyone! Hope you're all keeping well. I've caved, guys... I bought Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury. I saw everyone online praising it left, right, and centre, and… well, such is the power of FOMO. So that's my plan, anyway! I'm looking forward to diving back into the main game, even though I've already rinsed it a few times…

Elsewhere, I'll be replaying a few smaller titles like Thumper, Thimbleweed Park, and Oxenfree. I've spent so much time recently on huge, sweeping games, so it'll be nice to just kick back and not worry about investing hours upon hours on one title.

Hello. I’ve come over all Zelda in the past few days, no doubt due to Wednesday’s Direct announcement of Skyward Sword HD, and so I’ll be digging into a few of Link’s adventures this weekend starting with A Link Between Worlds on 2DS. I should also probably jump back into Breath of the Wild as I, rather shamefully, have yet to actually get my hands on the Master Sword, having foolishly decided to beat the game without it first time around.

Elsewhere, I’m also still blasting my way through Bowser’s Fury, which I’m having a great time with, and have very stupidly reinstalled Divinity Original Sin 2 for a replay, a game that has already munched through hundreds of hours of my life and shows no signs of releasing me from its vice-like grip any time soon. Have fun whatever you’re doing or playing this weekend and stay safe out there!

I'm going to start off by breaking the rules a bit, and telling you what I definitely haven't been playing (and should): Ring Fit Adventure. It's been a while since I've given Dragaux his just deserts, but in the meantime I've been eating... just desserts. I've been busy! Leave me alone!

As to what I have been playing, it's been a lot of Haven, a bit of Heaven's Vault (it's one of those games where I want to find everything, so it takes a while), and Astrologaster. A mixed bag, for sure. One is a romantic adventure, one is an archaeological history-mystery, and one is, er, a Shakespearean musical about untrustworthy plague doctors. I've been ignoring Animal Crossing's new Festivale stuff because it sounds hard, and I think I have New Horizons fatigue still. But it's only a month-ish until the new Story of Seasons comes out...

I don't usually talk about what I'm playing on my not-Switch, but I really want everyone to think I'm cool, so I'm also playing Valheim (along with at least 3 million others). I punched a tree and it fell on me and I died. It's pretty fantastic.

It's more Super Mario 3D World for me this weekend (I'm done with Bowser's Fury). Apart from this, I'll be spending some quality time with SNK VS. Capcom: The Match of the Millenium. It's been a blast so far and has more depth to it than I expected for a handheld fighting game dating back to 1999.

Oh, and if I get any extra time I'll make sure to check out the new Nintendo Switch Online releases. I'll probably take a look at Psycho Dream, Solomon's Key II and Shin Megami Tensei II. Happy gaming, everyone!

I've got the wonderful task of installing some skirting board which is going to take up a good chunk of time, but in-between awkward adhesives and caulking up all my mistakes, I'm definitely going to be dipping into some Cathedral. It's a lovely little game that's been driving me bananas so when I've had enough of dying to the same thing multiple times over I'll likely jump into a spot of Blue Fire.

And who knows? Maybe I'll go completely bonkers and fire up the hulking great Xbox One and dabble in a bit of The Master Chief Collection, even though I should really get back into Ghost of Tsushima, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Red Dead Redemption II, DOOM Eternal, and the obligatory addition to my 495 hours in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

It's not a backlog problem if I don't look directly at it.

A radical GameCube weekend with a combo of Wave Race: Blue Storm and 1080º Avalanche awaits! A bit more of Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury, a lot of broken bones and egos in Wrestling Empire, Jaleco’s Cybattler, and the conclusion of Haven should do nicely on Switch before the oppression of Monday returns.

I’m cheating in my game of the week this time since Capcom Arcade Stadium features 32 of them. Not a single bad game in there either, a feature-heavy deluxe package with incredible presentation and is truly the best way to prepare for next week's arrival of Arthur’s new adventure. The bar on what to expect from retro gaming emulation for the Switch has reached a new high.

As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...
