If you're still on the hunt for the Mythical Pokémon Zarude in Pokémon Sword and Shield, a new way to claim the monster has now been detailed by The Pokémon Company.
Originally, players in the UK were told that they'd be able to grab a code for Zarude by heading to their local GAME store or via the retailer's website, but the online distribution never seemed to materialise. Thanks to this, The Pokémon Company International says that you'll now be given a code for Zarude as long as you've signed up for the Pokémon Trainer Club newsletter by December 18th (thanks, Serebii).
The best news is that this offer is also valid for Pokémon Sword and Shield trainers across Europe, so those from the likes of France, Spain, Germany and Italy can also sign up and receive a code. Any codes earned via this method will be sent out in January, so don't worry if you don't receive anything straight away.
[Update]: These codes are now being distributed.
Will you be adding this new, Mythical Dark- and Grass-type to your team? Let us know in the comments.

monkey business that
Ew.... 😣
I prefer Bulbasur rather that Mojo Jojo looking Pokemon.
Got mine last month from that French site what was doing them. You have Mystery Gift Gamefreak so why not use that for once?
I ended up obtaining one from Micromania just in case something funny happened with the US newsletter. And sure enough, I never received the newsletter and code via email despite having been opted in for their emails for years and having actually received a ton of email from them as recently as last week.
@UmbreonsPapa Same here, although dummy me thought signing myself up to U.S. Newsletter on my secondary email would be enough to avoid the worst-case scenario with my regular newsletter email address not receiving the code. Didn't bother with that French website because I thought I didn't need to. Surely having TWO emails for the newsletter would do the trick, right? Take a wild guess what happened. Ugh.
Wait... That's a Pokemon?
I thought it was a Gremlin©®
I signed up with several emails for the US distribution because I wanted a code for myself and my two kids. Only 2 of 3 codes showed up so hopefully I can try again this way & finally get my Zarude.
Got mine a few weeks ago. Zarude is a fairly decent and powerful Pokémon that can be obtained with minimum effort.
Thankfully I got mine in the newsletter. Seems like people had some problems with that.
Managed to get mine back when the rest of Europe managed to distribute them.
Europe being organised while the UK's plans don't materialise? You don't say...
@WallyWest they are using it
Why cant they just use mystery gifts for all these event Pokémon?
Since my Aussie one never materialised...second time lucky 🤞🏻
the song playing is Zarude - Zandstorm
Nice, I missed my country's event because that happened to start at that one time I didn't check Nintendo related news.
@turbotri what? #stupidcomment
@Anti-Matter Okay cool, but no sense comparing apples to oranges, Or frog-plant to dark-grass monkey.
@Supadav03 I have been signed up for a long time, made sure I was good before the deadline, & never got my code. T.T
@HXLXIII because both are awesome!!!
@MakkaroniOni Eh, your loss.
@HXLXIII
Declaring my comment stupid because you don't understand what I meant before giving me a chance to explain is an interesting way to go about things.
My gremlin remark was in reference to the fact that the pokemon in question resembles a fictional character from an 80's movie called Gremlins. My comment was made whimsically.
@turbotri I've seen the movie plenty of times. Personally I see nothing about that Pokémon resembling a Gremlin from said film.
