Earlier this month, Capcom's network was hit with a "customized ransomware attack". While no customer information was obtained in the hack, it has since become clear that internal email and file servers were compromised during the intrusion and around 1TB of data was stolen; Capcom has stated that it is "consulting with the police as well as other related authorities while both carrying out an investigation and taking measures to restore its systems."
The hack has resulted in the personal information of Capcom staff and source code being made available online – which we naturally won't be linking to – as well as release information for various titles which are planned for 2020. We're not going to share any of the images which have leaked online, and it's worth noting that some of the leaked information appears to be taken from 2018 files, so it shouldn't be taken as gospel that all of the following is happening.
The news relevant to Switch owners includes a new Ace Attorney collection (which is also coming to PS4) comprised of the original trilogy and the two entries in the 3DS-based Great Ace Attorney / Dai Gyakuten Saiban series, bundled together in a physical two-pack release. According to one of the leaked documents, Capcom is intended to translate the game, so it looks like this could be getting a western release.
The leak also details a new project codenamed "Guillotine", which is apparently due for release on Nintendo's console in February. It will come to other systems in May.
It's also stated that Monster Hunter Rise will be getting demos in January and March, and is coming to the PC in October. Monster Hunter Stories 2 is also getting a PC release at the same time it hits Switch in June, and paid DLC expansions are expected.
While none of this should be taken as solid confirmation, it's nonetheless interesting to see how Capcom's Switch plans are shaping up for the upcoming year. Let us know your thoughts with a comment below.

Guillotine? Is that a Switch RE title? Is it a gritty M-rated Viewtiful Joe reboot? Time will tell. I don't exactly trust the source and plans can change, but I look forward to Capcom's output.
Oookay...
Too much spoilers here.
MonHun Story 2 will get paid DLC ??
All sounds pretty plausible. Feels like a shame that MHR will probably only be exclusive for a short time but i suspect that most of us expected that.
@CowCatcher if you think journalist have never ever done that before.... you are in for a wild ride. In this case it does not really matter though, since it’s about games.
Great Ace Attorney Collection?!
Gimme gimme gimme! Localise these for the love of everything hamburgers!
That Ace Attorney collection sounds a little weird considering the original trilogy already has a physical release on Switch. It'd make more sense to just have one with both the Great Ace Attorney games alone or the three other main series games that haven't been re-released yet.
Genuinely concerned for Capcom's safety. Only 60 GB of the stolen 1 TB of data haave been leaked thus far, and we have already learned so much about the company's secrets and upcoming plans.
Anyways, interested to see what Guillotine is. Maybe a game about the French Revolution?? (Nah, who am I kidding, it will be some Resident Evil game...)
So the masterrace get monster hunter?
@CowCatcher The journalists didn’t steal the info or pay for it to be stolen. At this point, NL is just reporting information that is already in the public domain. It would be ridiculous to pretend it didn’t happen if swathes of the internet are already taking about it. You can get off your high horse now.
Monster Hunter Rise on PC? I did not see that coming. It does make sense though. platform exclusivity only really makes sense if you own the hardware too. For a third party you'll get more out of having a game on as many platforms as possible. Now the real question is if Rise will have cross platform multiplayer or not. It's unfortunate that this got leaked though. The knowledge that a PC version is coming will probably hurt the sales of the Switch version. I'm more interested in playing MonHun portably so my plans aren't changing there, but I know there are plenty of people out there who prefer playing on a PC if given the option.
...Rise on PC?...Wat?....Yeah, I doubt it. lol
So Rise & mH2 won't be an exclusive? Hmmm, PC version here we come!
@CowCatcher journalism is about obtaining information and sharing it, isn't it? Sometimes the most important journalism is about things we're not supposed or even allowed to know, and can't be shown in mainstream media due to censorship and it being a controlled source of selective information with a very strict agenda. Some of the best journalists had to go into hiding, or were silenced one way or the other, only for mainstream media to ignore it all or write it off as a tragic accident.
Obviously this isn't one of those cases, and far less impactful news, but you may want to think about what journalism is, what it can be, and how it can be used, before saying something is bad journalism for being "illegally" obtained information - of which this is a rather harmless, innocent example, compared to some well documented (but mostly kept out of mainstream media) and lesser known cases, about, say, political corruption and far worse acts by people still in some very powerful positions, powerful enough to sweep it all under the rug, with or without dead bodies. Journalism is not (just) marketing or political campaigning. Those are better examples of bad journalism, in fact.
For a second there, I thought I read that an Ace Attorney hack and slash game was coming out! Now I’m kinda disappointed 😂
My money have been ready for ages to buy the Great Ace Attorney games, though knowing Capcom I can't avoid to agree with the article that we will likely never see such collection here in the west.....
Obviously, guillotine is the result of all of those court cases... it’s a sequel.
I’d love to see the ace attorney titles get localized and since the first three in the set never got a proper physical release outside of Japan maybe that would reason enough for capcom to go to the extra trouble and bring this to the west.
Project guillotine makes me think of mad world. That’s be a cool one!
@DonSerrot I'm gonna wait a few months and if a few things in this list turn out true, I'll cancel my Rise Switch preorder to buy it on PC for sure.
Can we get that Megaman Legends 3 demo?
"comprised of the original trilogy"
Again? How many times are they going to neglect 4 - 6 in the Ace Attorney series?
And there I was hoping for the hackers to make some 'Fan' art/creations with the info.
The Edgeworth sequel is the one that needs some love, these "Great" games can come later.
Always thought AAI:ME perfected the formula by allowing you to move the character around in 3D space and not be just a simple point n click game.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!!!!!! Please come to America Great Ace Attorney! I’ll pay you anything Capcom. I will sell you my soul. Pleeeeeeaase!
Rise and Generations 2 on PC makes sense since HD development is expensive. I think for the most part, we can expect PC releases to accompany console releases of games in many franchises.
@DonSerrot for me this would be a difficult pick if Rise comes to PC.
One part of me wants it on the Switch because I love playing MH games on the go, but the other part remembered I got joy-con drift for the 4th time in 3 years (and my partner had that 4th time few months ago) so the chances I would play Rise in dock only (because our Pro controllers work fine) would mean "I could get the better PC version" instead, because playing in dock only on the Switch doesn't make much sense to me.
Time will tell.
my heart skipped a beat hearing potential ace attorney news. im so starved for AA content i hope they find some way to just bring the great ace attroney here
Finally getting the Great Ace Attorney games would be great but...I love them as much as the next guy but I am so sick of getting re-releases of just the first 3 Ace Attorney games. Need some HD ports of Apollo Justice, Dual Destinies, and Spirit of Justice already.
@AlienX
The first Edgeworth game is honestly my least favourite game in the series. I just didn't find the writing or gameplay that engaging compared to the others... I'm not sute if that is related to the absence of court room showdowns or not.
I'd still be interested in a localised sequel if it is better regarded.
It would be amazing if the Great Ace Attorney games were localized.
So, putting aside my utter excitement at the possibility of getting the Great Ace Attorney games...
...why not release them in their own collection? Does Capcom not plan on re-releasing AJ, DD, and SoJ? What about AAI2?
Well, that's kind of disappointing that Rise is also coming to PC. I hate to see the game's community fragmented before it even releases.
Huh, funny news to come about not long after I place an import order for the two Dai Gyakuten Saiban 3DS games.
I'll still end up playing those versions with the fan translation though.
And i just bought literally 12 hrs ago the japanese trilogy of ace attorney.
I thought my heart stopped when I saw Dai Gyakuten Saiban on the thumbnail
It's a shame we're never getting the 3DS version, but I'm not complaining. I guess it's time to get back into Ace Attorney uwu
Welp I ain't getting Monster Hunter Rise on Switch anymore lmfao
Thank god it's coming to PC. It looks extremely washed out and low res on Switch as it is right now
I’ll take the Great Ace collection. Capcom still needs to bring over Miles Edgeworth games as well.
Not sure if the source you got was the same guy i saw on twitter, but according to what he posted, it is in English and the character's name is Herlock Sholmes ( :
I'm going to have a punt and say 'Guillotine' is Ghosts 'n' Goblins related, for no other reason than I want a new Ghosts 'n' Goblins game. Hmm...I wonder if that's where Nintendo picked up on the 'new' prefix lol...
I kinda expected Monster Hunter Rise to make the jump to PC at some point, but if true, that's sooner than I figured.
As for The Great Ace Attorney, that's an AA spin-off series I'd like to try. However, I suspect that collection is Japan-only.
Interesting as this information is (as with other things of this nature), I can't support how this information was obtained. At all.
@BenAV yeah if I have to buy a two pack to get the games I don't have that will be super disappointing. I imported the physical of the current AA collection
If they translate the Great Ace Attorney games, I'll be all over that.
Not happy about paid dlc for Monster Hunter Stories 2 if it’s true...
If we get a Great Ace Attorney Collection I can die happy.
The first great attorney was one of the most fun I've had with the series (And I'm a pretty rabid fan! ) So I can't wait for the sequel!!
I really hope that the Dai Gyakuten Saiban series gets its western release.
@Slowdive I missed that about the 7th game! Seriously??
If Both of the Monster Hunter Games are coming to PC then i'm just going to wait to buy them now. Rather play it on the better hardware and mod support.
Please Great Ace Attorney. Please. And the Edgeworth sequel.
@Warioware why is the fact that it's only timed exclusivity bad? As much as I love my Switch I'm ecstatic that I'll get to play it on my PC with an uncapped framerate and mods. Hell I'd buy the Switch version too if I could sync my save data between them. Wish I could play the new Hyrule Warriors on my computer as well since the demo is basically a picturebook on Switch.
@Wilforce I mean I'm guessing that fragment would have a language and latency barrier anyway. I'm sure Capcom's rationale is having a Switch version for Japan and a PC version for all the westerners that loved World. If you look at the numbers World did well enough in the west to become their best selling game of all time, but honestly the Japanese numbers were pretty soft.
They're gonna see if they can double dip and I can understand why. Honestly would rather just see a sequel to World though.
@PoopScoop Idk, nowadays the audiobook, "Arsene Lupin vs. Sherlock Holmes" is available in its original form, with all character names intact. I'm thinking this is just Capcom playing it safe. That said, Herlock Sholmes was created by Maurice Leblanc, so if it's a matter of copyright, then I doubt Capcom would use Leblanc's character.
Great Ace Attorney, and Investigations 2 please! We've waited sooo long
@jumbawumba I think you're over estimating how much of a barrier latency and language have in Monster Hunter. I've played MHGU with Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, and Spanish players with no issues. Over time you become used to the auto sentences and most of the game is recognizing openings in monster patterns. Since so much of the combat is you focusing on dealing damage, lag spikes aren't that impactful so long as the monster remains in sync.
Huh. Guess I'll get the Monster Hunter games for PC then.
I play a lot of World on PC and that's where my Monster Hunter friends are, just to clarify before anyone gets mad.
We have the brilliant Ace Attorney Trilogy on the Switch. Just release any or all of the other games from the series onto the Switchy. Simples.
@MeloMan YEAH!! STOP SLACKING ON THAT GAME AND JUST GIVE US AAI2!!
@Slowdive Seems the idea of G 'n' G is picking up steam! (must...stay...calm...)
@Slowdive Well, I is first so I are industry indsider nowz!
Tbh the only way they could be able to localize great ace attorney is if they had to take drastic liberties with sherlock in order to circumvent the licensing fee, so frankly I'm not surprised they caved
