I'm kind of bummed it wasn't named "My World" but this is great lol
This is the part I was wishing for. A minecraft stage. Glad to see it happening.
Wow, so what that worlds look like with proper draw distance!
@nessisonett any draw distance is possible when the background is a png!
Wow that is very Minecraft
I almost forgot it was smash bros.
God, Minecraft is so ugly... Maybe I'm missing something but I never got the appeal of taking the time to build your own world when it will look so hideous! And I'm not even a graphics whore, I play loads of retro games but Minecraft just looks... urgh... To each their own though.
The team at Sora Ltd. really put a lot of thought and detail into this. I will say that Steve looks like he'll be tricky to play outside of his stage, since he becomes limited to the materials newly coded into the stage (like their demonstration that the Great Fox only had iron), so I imagine you'll see him a lot more often in Battlefield/Omega stages where the materials are fixed.
@Clyde_Radcliffe you’re not alone. It looks like a poor man’s 8 bit.
Like a counterfeit retro game. It looks so bad, and the “character” moves terrible too.
@fafonio don't buy it then instead of crying about it while typing walls of text about how he isn't a character. 🤷🏾♂️
@Arkay bought the fighter pass. And I can complain just as you post how you like the character.
You can love Minecraft. Don’t let me stop you. But don’t be delusional that the character doesn’t move and look terrible.
One can be honest about that and still like Minecraft.
Don’t be a fanboy
@fafonio I already stated that he's a weird pick my guy for as much as I enjoy the game. Nothing to cry about 😂😂😂
Wow, I've been without Internet the last few days and I would have never guessed Minecraft would be chosen. I guess I might be buying some smash dlc!
@Sabrewing There's no "team at Sora ltd". Sakurai even made sure to say today that Sora isn't recruiting new employees and have no employees but is just an agency company to negotiate contract with publishers, so in this case, Nintendo.
The team of Smash since 4 is Bandai Namco Studios, with Sakurai from his company Sora acting as director of those employees of BNS.
@Nemesis666 That wasn't really something worth "UM, ACTUALLY..."ing over, but thank you.
"Stone shore"
Did you mean: extreme hills
@Clyde_Radcliffe It's the style. It started this style that games continue to this day. It's why a lot of 8-bit graphics have made a comeback. It looks much better on PC with mods and ray-tracing and what not. Take a look at a video on YouTube in which it's modded. It looks pretty impressive.
@Snatcher yeah.... Minecraft really doesn't fit in the Smash Universe if u ask me....
They should have ditched one of the forest/plains stages for a Nether one. Feels a bit redundant. Looking great anyway!
@Eel Boundary Break proves that Smash backgrounds are completely 3D and not just flat backgrounds. A png background would behave very differently at sunset and night and certainly would not have the smooth realtime light and shadow effects that you can see in Smash's demonstration footage.
The reason why it's possible to see so far is that it's just graphics, not interactive objects.
@SKTTR it’s pretty obvious this stage uses a similar thing to what the breath of the wild stage uses, a simpler 3d-fied image (or collection thereof). You don’t even need boundary break, just go to your switch and play on that stage, then look at it with the pause menu camera. If you look behind, in the trees, you can see where the one pane of trees ends, and the 2D trickery starts.
About describing it as a png, that’s just basic hyperbole.
