Word about the localisation of Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers has been floating around all year, but now, in Koei Tecmo's latest financial report there's no mention of a western release.
In terms of console offerings, it's currently focused on Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and a bunch of other games including Atelier Ryza 2, Dynasty Warriors 9: Empires, Romance of the Three Kingdoms XIV - Diplomacy and Strategy Expansion Pack and Nioh 2 DLC. All of these games will arrive before the end of the March 2021.
While this might seem like an alarming development, as noted by Siliconera, Sega previously filed a trademark for Persona 5 Strikers back in December 2019 - which is expected to be the game's title here in the west.
Obviously it's been a disruptive year and there's also a new console generation on the horizon, so perhaps we'll just have to wait a little longer. Would you show your support for Persona 5 Scramble if it was released here in the west? Comment below.

This isn't surprising when one decides to spend their 30 minutes in a segment of a livestream showing off a port of an old game that lots of people already knew was coming instead of literally anything else and threatened twice to copy strike people who spoil certain parts of their game
It Definitely got delayed by Covid-19, which is a shame, but it's understandable. I can wait a little longer, especially with Age of Calamity.
I definitely wouldn't worry about this. Persona 5 is Atlus's biggest game, and this is a canonical sequel to that. Plus they've released every other spinoff, such as the dancing games, and PQ2 even though the 3DS was dead when it was brought over. A potential combination of Covid delays, KT focusing on Hyrule Warriors first, and Atlus planning out their release schedule between SMTIII Remaster, SMTV, and P5S is probably keeping them from being able to lock down a solid date.
Maybe they also didn't want it to get too close to the new console launches, or it's simply not on Koei Tecmo's financial report because the publishing will now be handled by Sega, leaving it out of their hands. We'll see what specifically is causing the wait, but it will get localised sooner or later.
KOEI Tecmo only have publishing rights for Japan. They would have little say in what Atlus/Sega do with a Western release. Atlus being quiet on it and acting like idiots earlier in the year about it doesn't help though.
Oh look at that. Nintendo life also got the same news....duh
@Orpheus79V Dancing star was so funny to play xD I couldn't stand the dancing...just hard to not laugh when l played that game so many years ago...wonder how long ago
The dancing just looked silly!
I really hope this come to the west. I downloaded the demo on the Japanese eShop and it was fantastic!
With Age of Calamity being announce and hype, I almost forgot that this game even existed or coming to Switch. At this point Joker for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is really just that, a joke character and nothing more. It's nice to have him for the roster but really just forgettable now. During online play for Smash Ultimate hardly anyone I play with ever use him at all.
Would be a day one purchase.
More interested in SMT V anyways. I want something new from Atlus that isn't Persona-related.
@HotGoomba Here is the thing with the Age of Calamity. Isn't it the same game as Scramble in terms of enemy difficulty? I notice that enemies just stand there while your character takes out 20 in one blow. Do these games offer a challenge in terms of being rushed by grunts or something? How are the bosses in terms of difficulty?
The extended delay gives me the impression that it might have an English dub since it's a direct sequel to P5. To my knowledge, all of P4's canon content was dubbed into English, which will likely be the case with P5. Since most dubbing studios shut down operations for 4-6 months this year, the only voice actors who could've continued working are those with home studios. And while many have home studios, the audio quality can be all over the place. (See the English dub of the Full Metal Alchemist live action film with Vic Mignogna - he's talented, but sounds like he's speaking through a tin can).
Isn't this merely to do with the fact that it's likely to be SEGA who is handling the publishing ?
@MysteryCupofJoe I've only played Fire Emblem Warriors. I'm not entirely sure how other Warriors titles differ from Fire Emblem Warriors. But there was some challenge in the game. Not so much in terms of combat but in terms of positioning allies and making sure missions are completed.
I found it rather fun because it was nonstop action and you still had to think about strategy. Though if you want Dark Souls-like combat, these titles definitely aren't going to give that to you.
@HotGoomba A localization delayed because of covid? LMAO what do they use to localize, ink and fountain pen?
Half of me wonders/hopes whether they're gonna release it here with Royal content
Just give us a subtitles patch then, cannot be that difficult
Think Atlus/Koei missed their window. If they hadn’t sat on it for so long, they wouldn’t have clashed with Hyrule Warriors 2. As it is now, most people aren’t going to pick up this as their musou.
These games are an acquired taste. I’d rather have a Persona game
@teo_o it's called voice acting and translation, idiot.
Edit: he's not an idiot. I'm being rude, so sorry lol
@HotGoomba why on earth would you make it personal? are you dubbing it yourself? geez man calm down
@teo_o Ok sorry, I didn't mean to be rude, I was just really tired and seeing your comment made me mad.
@HotGoomba NP man!
I suspect the delay was Covid related for voice recording then they don’t want it to clash with Hyrule Warriors but I worry interest in this is fizzling out now.
I love the demo and I’m really looking forward to the full game.
@Mr_Persona got it on my vita in a collection ready for the corny dancing lol gonna be hilarious. Its especially funny considering I dont like any anime thing except persona
@popey1980 if they give subtitles, then we are probably going to get voice acting the translation itself is probably the hardest part.
@JR150 never played SMT hear it's good I feel its fading into the shadows of how good persona 3 4 and 5 were tbh. Like I used to hear about them all the time now all I hear about is how persona is better which I have yet to actually see. One thing's for sure: persona is very unique and smt is probably different so they have different draws.
Rip everyone who plays smash who wants to play their first persona game
@MysteryCupofJoe Musou games have various difficulty modes ranging from "mooks are harmless" to "mooks can kill you in 3-4 hits". The games are usually shown off on the second easiest mode.
The day Atlus stops localizing Persona spinoffs is the day the apocalypse comes. It's gonna come, but there are numerous factors impeding its delay, including scheduling around the VA's for the existing cast due to the anime's English dub, as well as the casting processes for the new characters in the game, not even to mention the pandemic which actually seems to be worsening in a few areas as of late.
I predict it'll probably come in summer/early fall 2021 in between SMTIII HD and SMTV
@Wilforce The only spinoff that was never given an English dub was Persona Q2, but everything since Arena including Q1 and all three Dancing games got dubs, so it's very likely they'll give the same treatment to P5S, given like P4 Arena, it's a canon sequel to P5
Good thing I speak Korean, since I bought it when I was in Seoul
@jcboyer515 Sure thing. There's nothing that's been announced so far but it's confirmed that there aren't any references to Royal-exclusive events in P5S. All I'm saying is, I hope they're add some in when the Western release happens, like including Kasumi. Might explain a reason for such a long delay but it's admittedly wishful thinking
@Terra They likely couldn't add any allusions to P5R seeing as how P5S and R were developed in tandem and so communication might've been limited between the P-Studio and Koei Tecmo teams in that regard
It's similar to how Arena came out right after P4G in 2012 and as a result, had no allusions to any of Golden's plot changes such as Marie, or the new event sequences, or the social link with Adachi, but those were all eventually addressed in Ultimax
@TheFrenchiestFry Agreed, seems pretty plausible. It's why I understand that P5R content wasn't there originally, but I just have a suspicion we may see a second edition
@Terra Considering Persona 5 Arena is probably on the way that'd be a great way to reintroduce characters like Akechi as well as Royal's exclusive characters like Yoshizawa and [[REDACTED]]
That'll probably be how they work Royal's introduced plot elements into the spinoff canon since I have a feeling that'll be the last P5-centric spinoff we get before P6
@Ghostchip Nice! Yes it is corny....it was hard for me to handle it in the beginning
@JR150 Try Catherine Full Body. But rent it first and see if you really like it and want to own it.
@Retro_Player_77 Everyone is enjoying that still new arms fighter and Steve man👍
For me l keep seeing people playing as FE characters now.
@Mr_Persona are there spoilers for actual game in these? Only played 3 then 4 next and then I'm playing 5
@Mr_Persona love all the talus games I've played so far but this one seems a bit too... sexual. Not my thing. Would you still recommend if I dont want all that crap?
@Mr_Persona
Not interested in a puzzle game. I want an RPG.
@Ghostchip
Having already played Tokyo Mirage Sessions, I want to try a game from Atlus that has a completely different style. A real SMT game.
@Ghostchip Well, I would just not play P5 one then. I don't know if I would say they're spoilers or not. It depends on the person if they don't want to see anything at all. Maybe I would just play half of P5 and then do the Dancing Starlight.
Now with Catherine Full Body, and yes it is rated for M for a good reason. And I know it bothers a lot of people seeing people not wearing clothes and there is strong language in the game. So I would say maybe not play the game if you're not comfortable with that stuff. I'm not myself but I was able to handle the language but not so much with nudity and sex. So I always looked away when I can. Game was fun for me and some parts not so much. But people want to play atlus games that aren't Persona, then that is one of the games. I still don't understand why Nintendo put that game on the switch. And sorry if this comment is against the rules or not.
@Mr_Personadont see how this is against the rules thanks a lot
@link3710 Yup, that is all I see. Thanks for the heads up. Now I kind of regret not trying out the Gundam Warrior games (at least one of them).
@Ghostchip You're welcome! And don't worry about the [email protected] part
