Following on from some rather sizable updates for the definitive edition of Xenoblade Chronicles, Nintendo and Monolith Soft have now rolled out a new update for the second game.
Version 2.1.0 for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 adds Korean language support. As spotted by Miketendo64, a new update for Xenoblades Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country (Version 1.1.0) - featuring the same patch notes - has also been released.
Here are the full details, courtesy of the official Nintendo support page:
Ver. 2.1.0 (Released September 2, 2020)
Changes and New Features
- Korean text is now supported.
The text can be changed to Korean by setting the Nintendo Switch language setting to Korean. (Korean voices are not supported).
Before this one, the last update for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was back in December 2018 (Version 2.0.2). it added a bunch of changes and new features to both the base game and expansion. You can read more about this on Nintendo's support page.

Unexpected, but that's nice for anyone who speaks Korean. Especially in a game as text heavy as XC2 / Torna
....Wait, what was version 2.0 about? I kinda stopped playing this game for some odd reason. Haven't even seen the new stuff, lol.
That was unexpected, but looking at the content of the update, I doubt it will be of any interest to anyone on this website. I played through the NG+ to discover the few extra bits that were added not long ago but nothing really interesting was added.
Such an amazing game. Glad more will be able to experience it now.
Still have this one backlogged; I held off in order to play its technically older (in terms of original release) sibling, which I beat recently (still need to play Future Connected). Whether or not I pick up Torna will be determined by how much I enjoy XC2.
@Joeynator3000 Version 2.0 was when the Torna expansion was added.
@DeQuimet facepalms
...I'm an idiot...I was thinking of the first game that recently released. xD
If they didn't bring back "don't forget me," then it is unfortunately all for naught.
@Tyranexx If you're jumping into Xenoblade Chronicles 2, I want to inform you that you can skip most of the grinding and get a ton more EXP if you use chain attacks often (later in the game it teaches you to press the + button when your top-left gauge is full). I did not know this throughout most of the game and could have completely avoided a ton of monotony.
@Chlocean Awesome! Thanks for the tip! While I like taking my time in RPGs due to a love of exploring and interacting with NPCs, anything that saves me a few hours is welcome.
@Tyranexx Honestly, I don't recommend playing Future Connected. All of my friends who've played it have said it's mid, and the writing is honestly pretty stilted compared to Xenoblade 1. Maybe it's just the localization, doesn't really matter, in my opinion. My suggestion is to jump straight into Xenoblade 2. I hear Torna: The Golden Country is an absolute banger, but I have many other games in my backlog and would rather wait for the Switch Pro to finally play it like I intended to when it released.
I'm happy for the Korean players now I wish they'd release a patch 3.0 and eliminate the mind numbing grinding needed. I love Xenoblade 2 but the sheer level of grinding needed to even decently unlock blades is a real killjoy especially when some can only be unlocked at the very end of the game.
Aw I thought it was something big.
@Tyranexx You and me both, bro! I'm coming off a 200 hour plus game (though that includes the time I left the game on standby for the mercenary missions to go on in the background), while there are some annoying features, it was clearly a fun enough game to keep me until the credits, and so far Torna is even better.
I plan on revisiting this one after I finish my run of XC1.
Rex for Smash
Interesting that I would be hearing about this XC2 again. I still have yet to play torna due to my backlog but I will get to it very soon. I heard it isn't long. i already beat XC1 original on the Wii and don't plan playing it on the switch. But I am interested in future connected. Xenoblade chronicles X is the only other one I didn't beat yet. Lol. Hopefully it comes out on the switch. But before that I got to get my backlog down. Trying to finish octopath and the first playthrough of fire emblem three houses along with some other games.
@Tyranexx Don't listen to @Barok. It's easy: if you enjoyed XC1 you should play future connect. If you enjoy XC2 play Torna. Why not finish a game you like? Just because some friends of a guy in a forum says it's meeh?
Especially for Future Connect, which you already own (I recommend getting Torna quite early, because it includes the expansion pass, which you can benefit from in the normal game).
My personal opinion bus, that both extension have a great story, completely not comparable, one addresses the future, one the past.
What I personally did not like is the change of battle systems ins both expansions. Why is that? Because I spent a lot of time using and mastering the normal battle systems in XC1 and XC2, then it's replaced by a interior battle system. But that's my personal taste.
Long story short: don't let other's decide for you, decide for yourself
geez.... this? what about better performance?
@Tyranexx Get Torna! Maybe I could even say it is a paragon in gaming of a expansion that stands on its own, totally worth the price. Updated graphics, new battle system, good story (in my opinion)
I expected more Koreactions from the XBC2 community.
No update for Torna so far in Europe. Downloading the XC2 update, though.
I really hope this new rumoured switch will have more power etc, this game really deserves a resolution and power boost
Currently running through XC 1 definitive ( about the 3rd time I have played it ) and loving it . I loved XC 2 and will play again .. never played Torna so I need to get that and play .. most likely before I play 2 again
I just traded it a few weeks back. Liked the first 10h so much that I immediately bought the DLC. The navigation is rough though, often I don't have a clue where to go to, or how I will get there, since I have to pass regions with monsters of 50 levels higher or there is no clear point on the map to go to. The combat, story and landscape I do like a lot!
I loved the first XC, but XC2 is a bit rough. I stopped playing it because of the awkwardness of interacting with the map and the lack of decent navigation or description for side quest goals. I want to love it, but I just can't. I hope they update that part!
@Braok I'm actually taking a bit of a break with other games before jumping into Future Connected. If I start it and don't like it, I'll just drop it; I learned long ago not to waste my time on a game I'm not enjoying. Life's too short.
@Chlocean Whew, 200+ hours? That speaks volumes; clearly you enjoyed the game enough to invest that much time into it! I'm getting more hyped now. XD
@mazzel Definitely advice I also adhere to; I don't plan on skipping any of it unless I genuinely dislike what I'm playing. Thanks for the feedback!
@Lugazz I think I will! I was waiting to see how much I enjoy XC2 first, but I may just pick up Torna anyway.
@Rhaoulos haha I can never bring myself to go through a NG+
So much grunting through fights where you're over leveled just to get those last tidbits of stuff
I wouldn't mind it, but after starting the download now and having Data Management tab report a 3.8 Gb difference from a moment prior... Am I getting something wrong here, or does it really take a 4 Gb patch to add Korean language support?🤔🤔🤔 Pass.
