A number of new updates have made their way to Pokémon Café Mix, the free-to-play Pokémon puzzler which launched on the Switch eShop this June.
Most notably, the game has added its first-ever team event, where players can join forces to recruit new Pokémon staff. This new function lets you form a team of up to 30 people – separate from your friend list – to take on challenging team events. It looks like you'll need the help, too, as Snorlax is far too hungry to please by yourself.
Here's a full rundown of the new updates:
Form Your Team
You can create your own team for the cost of 300 golden acorns. When you create a team, you become the team captain. You can form a team with your existing friends, but this is also a great opportunity to branch out and become friends with other players as well.Cool New Bonuses
To celebrate the Pokémon Café Mix update, players who start their own team can pick up a nice bonus for a limited time: For every team member you recruit, you will earn 300 golden acorns (up to 10,000 golden acorns). In addition, the shop has a special Team Order Pack—which you can purchase with real-world money—that contains Snorlax Maniac Pikachu.Hungry Snorlax
And yes, Pokémon Café Mix’s first team event sees a snack-craving Snorlax visiting your café. By working with your team members from September 24 through October 8, 2020, you can raise Snorlax’s satisfaction level by serving it tasty dishes and convince it to join your staff. Snorlax’s Café Skill can clear Pokémon icons and gimmicks below, potentially making it very useful in completing tricky puzzles. Once this event ends, you can look forward to more team events in the future.
Did you spot the mention of a 'Snorlax Maniac Pikachu'? Yep, it's adorable.

The Pikachu is so cute! I still am not downloading the game, it looks kind of boring, but the game looks great, and cute!
Who else had forgotten about this game? I might take a look though, who can resist Snorlax?
I played this game for a while but it became too grindy and begging for money like a lot of the other free-to-play Pokemon games. I just removed it from my Switch and probably won't go back.
Oooo Snorlax. I haven’t played this game, but now I might give it a try.
I downloaded it and got as far as "This game requires the Switch be removed from it's dock", decided it was a "Switch Lite" game, and that was the end of it as we don't own a Switch Lite.
I'm all for options, and still believe ACNH should have touch screen inventory management for pockets and storage, but that's what's required on a hybrid system, options, not "our way or no play".
I haven't played it for a little while but I was quite enjoying it, mostly for the art. Might pop back in at some point.
@rjejr They could have implemented using the Joy-Cons like Wiimotes or mapping the analogue stick to a cursor, but honestly it just wouldn't work very well for how this game is played. I can imagine they decided not too as many would dock their Switch and try to play that way by default, find it deeply un-enjoyable and not think to give it a go in handheld. I dare say the same people would have been complaining "why did they even bother to do this, they should have left it hand-held only".
Agreed on ACNH though! The amount of times I've written a letter using the touch screen then tried to add a gift by tapping the icon on the screen. Wouldn't be too sizeable a thing to patch in too in the grand scheme.
@Ogbert Well since I haven't played it yet I'll take your advice that it wouldn't work, though that's a hard thing to say w/ all of the Wii U dual screen games like ZombiU and Lego City Undercover showing up on other platforms, but again, I haven't played it, so I should give it a shot first before questioning it.
I did watch my sons play all of astral Chain 2 player and they should NOT have added that in the way they did, they game is literally broken in 2 player, there are buttons you can't use and you can't get into the menu system, it's a mess.
But now I have to find out for myself.
