The official Crash Bandicoot website has potentially given the game away on an upcoming Switch release for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time.
The game, which serves as a sequel to the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy, is due to launch on PS4 and Xbox One on 2nd October 2020. No official Switch announcement has been made just yet, but a listing for 'Nintendo Switch' has been spotted in the official website's source code.
The Switch mention was initially found by Twitter user @SunwerPrower, who points out that when viewing the site correctly, only the confirmed PS4 and Xbox One versions are mentioned. We examined the source code ourselves to double-check and sure enough, there is a 'Nintendo Switch' buying option that hasn't been pushed live to the site.
Now, we should stress that this cannot 100% confirm the existence of a Switch release - the code may have been copied over from another game listing, or it may have simply been a mistake - but there's definitely reason to believe a Switch version might be in the works.
As you'll know, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is already available on Switch, as well as Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, and this game comes from the same developer and publisher. You might also remember that N. Sane Trilogy actually launched on Switch a year after the PS4 version did, and Spyro Reignited Trilogy also leaked from its official website ahead of time, so could we face a similar situation here?
Time will tell, of course, so we'll make sure to keep an eye out for any official announcements and update you if and when the time comes. Until then, let us know if you'd like to see Crash 4 on Switch with a comment below.

Pretty sure they just copypasted the code from another site and disabled that button.
It's honestly bizarre it wasn't announced with the other versions, the game they showed doesn't seem too far off the remastered trilogy and that game is already on the Switch.
A little upsetting that to this day games aren't released on day one with the other versions for the Switch, but oh well.
You have to believe there will be a Switch version if it is at all possible. I would imagine that they are just concentrating on the other versions first before seeing if a port will be feasible. N Sane Trilogy sold so well they would be crazy to ignore Switch.
I don't think this alone is indicative of whether a Switch port is in the works, though given how Toys for Bob handled Spyro Trilogy, it probably exists.
The game looks like it was made for 'current gen', they're probably looking at optimising for the switch but can't commit to a release till it's all working correctly. Would be a disservice to release a half ass game.
Too bad it's skipping the switch. Since Naughty Dog isn't developing it it will probably be very good.
Of course it's coming to the Switch.
great news, looks a really good game, I like the mixed up mechanics added
I mean, it's pretty clear why a Switch version can't come at or close to the same day as the other versions.
The game was in development way before the Switch was even announced AND Activision needs to see, if the Switch even has good sale numbers before they jump into it. 🤷
i would be happy.. and I still think would be good for absolutely everyone if Crash would join smash... I truly believe that he will join (maybe not the next one but soon) and also Travis.. it's a no brainer..
I like the Crash Bandicoot series games (from the PS2 & Wii eras where I played them) so if this is true this is good news to me. Even the whole family loved the N-Sane Trilogy on the PS4 & Switch
Given how the remastered trilogy sold on Switch, they'd be crazy to not even consider it. They probably want people who own multiple consoles to double dip when the Switch version finally releases a year after the other consoles. I can wait.
oh my God pleas be true
Now can somebody please check the code on the Tony Hawk Remaster website?
It will come for sure, but 6-8 months later, like Crash and Spyro Trilogy. Activision being Activision...
I'm honestly a bit tired of that strategy.
Probably is. The PS4 and Xbox versions will be easier to get out there so that'll be the priority. And it's Activision they love money!
Look, they are doing exactly what they did with the trilogy, sell the hell out of the PS4 and Xbox versions, then when it drops out the top ten, then release it on switch. Therefore back in the top ten. It's gonna happen
What were sales figures for the trilogy, CRT and Spyro?? Surely switch sales were competitive??
It would make sense as I never understood why the switch was excluded from the list of systems this game would be released on
Well, since i have both Switch and PS4 machines, whichever version is fine to me.
Even if i consider the PS4 version instead of Switch version that because i have embraced my PS4.
No more negative feeling toward PS4.
Since I no longer have my PS4 I would very much appreciate a version of the game either on Switch or on Steam.
I've seen the trailers and I think it looks pretty neat.
Crash N Sane was Vicarious Visions
CTR was Beenox
Crash 4 is Toys for Bob who also worked on Spyro Reignited
So no, they are not the same developers as the article cites, although they are all published by Activision.
It would only make sense.
It will come to Switch, Crash already had a large fanbase on Nintendo's platform. To simply ditch the platform at this point just doesn't make any sense.
Pretty sure it'll come a year later just like the Crash and Spyro trilogies. Big games releasing last on the Switch is pretty standard whether announced later (like Crash and Spyro trilogies) or delayed a lot after originally announced to arrive at the same time (like Dark Souls Remastered and DOOM Eternal).
I know Crash was seen in the past as a PS mascot, but considering how Mario-inspired his games are he's a natural fit for Nintendo (not that a game has to be a "natural fit" to get on Switch, but still), I've had a ton of fun with N. Sane Trilogy on Switch, and I've almost sunk 300 hours into CTR, also on Switch.
I would prefer to get this on switch rather than ps4, I will wait for sometime before buying the ps4 version.
@Yanina Why don't you?
Right click, view page source, do a find.
I would LOVE a new Crash Team Racing<33
I like the Crash universe, but haven't been able to get until the Crash Bandicoot trilogy. I wish I could. Tried the first two games, but they're so punishing for me, and the restricted camera angle makes it unnecessarily hard to judge jumps. The trilogy is my first exposure to those games.
I hope we get a Switch release
@MrBlacky Right, Activision still needs to wait to see if Switch can put up sale numbers years after it's been doing so...
We like to see what platforms our players are on, and which platforms are the best fit for our titles. Crash 4 as a retro character mascot 3D cartoon platformer is clearly an opportunity to push boundaries and take advantage of the next generation of consoles. We love Switch, we really do. It's a fantastic console. But it's just not the right fit for this title at this time.
@Abes3 Which is yet another reason Nintendo should start putting more effort into their consoles. They don't need to be on par with the others (the Switch would probably melt anyway), but there's always little things they can improve upon.
Anyone who says the whole underpowered thing is "100% fine" is just fooling themselves. Many games are either late, they run/look like crap, or all of the above.
I just got the nsane trilogy for my 13th birthday a couple days ago just fully completed crash 2 and i love spyro as well and sadly i just have a switch so i practically need crash 4 on switch idc if they're going to sacrifice the framerate form 60fps to 30fps i just want to play crash 4 it looks like it's taking after the cartoony spyro artstyle which i really like and since the unreal engine is compatible with the switch it's almost a no brainer for switch the switch ports of reignited and nsane ran beautifully on switch so it'd be dumb from a business standpoint to not port this game there are so many Crash and spyro fans on switch hyped for this game
Seriously why don't they just announce the Switch and Steam versions alongside the other two platforms?
Let me guess, it's probably coming like a year later on those two like Crash N. Sane Trilogy and Spyro Reignited
@vikgamer168 Happy belated birthday!
@HobbitGamer
It seems like, you're quite resistant to very obvious sarcasm.😃
@MrBlacky It has? Switch was announced four years ago, has been out for 3.5 years, and has had amazing sales the entire time. None of what you’re saying seems plausible.
@BAN
Please look above your post.👆
Was surpried when it wasn't announced for Switch in the first place.
@vikgamer168 if you think that then you don't understand the business standpoint at all. Now there is a difference with Activision though, they like to force double dipping.
@BAN I think the was joking cause that's what many companies used to say as an excuse for not releasing games on switch.
Would be great if Cold Steel IV and Crash 4 also had their October release on Switch. Make it an option for everyone not picking up Pikmin 3.
@StevenG I don't own a computer.
Switch version of Crash 4 is a no brainer, Crash N Sane trilogy is one of the better selling 3rd parties on Switch. Just seems like Toys for Bob struggles with development on more platforms than two at a time. Spyro trilogy was the same case(Switch and pc later).
@edgedino @MrBlacky lol I 100% don’t believe that it was a joke. Where’s the humor in saying that a game was in development earlier than it actually was? “Haha, this guy said a game was in development at a certain point in time, what a gasser!”
If that post was a joke then I’m a hyena.
@diablo2 true but I'm honestly not fussed. I have a PlayStation and a switch. I don't see them as rivals, I see them as their own devices.
My switch is the "Nintendo" machine for all the Nintendo IP, and I splash a few dollars on indie titles. Found small indie games quite enjoyable and seem to 'fit' on the Wii > Wii U (hello affordable space adventures) and on the switch.
My PlayStation is my "gaming" machine where I want all of the pretty things to shine.
I like the experiences on Nintendo and I like the gamey games on PlayStation. So I'm happy for Nintendo to keep doing their thing.
@Varkster
The nintendo switch version is not a ported version, thats why switch versions can't have the same releasedate.
And this is why i like the switch, it has its own unique version of games. I dont care for the wait.
@diablo2
Yeah. Wii looked crap too.
Sold over 100+ million units.
We all seem aware about the fact that switch games look worse then pc, ps4 and xbox one versions, but only those guys seem to be bothered by it.
Still it has had more magical achievements then many dissapointment on those platforms, a platform where nobody is satisfied with any release.
@PALversusNTSC Keep in mind that your reply only focuses on the games' looks, all while ignoring performance issues. An objective fan should acknowledge both the pros and cons of a product, rather than excusing and justifying its shortcomings so blindly.
Regardless of the consoles' unit sales, the fact remains that many games were missing (on Wii) and are missing (on Switch) as a direct result of a lack of power. And the ones that DO release tend to suffer quite a bit — or the developers have to put in the extra time, effort, and resources to make them work halfway decent.
So, as i said on my original post: Nintendo consoles don't need to be on par with the other guys, but they can still put a tiny more effort into their consoles in certain areas.
But meh, nothing that can be done now, since the system is already out. Let's just hope their next console is a bit less anemic in certain places.
They usually focus on getting the base game to work on the two powerhouses. Once they are done they turn their attention to ports on other systems. Expect a port roughly under a year from release
Did you expect it was not coming to Switch?
take THAT @HappyMaskedGuy
@BAN
LOLOLOLOLOL I bet, if I would say "Trump is the best and smartest president EVER!", you would also think, I am not joking. 😆
Edit: Oh, and your post makes it seems like, you think the Switch sale numbers are low.
Considering I make websites for a living and you never put something like that in your site unless you are planning on adding it down the road. It is 100% coming to Switch.
Got Crash Bandicoot Insane trilogy. The infamous "pill design" made me hate it.
@MrBlacky Well, the trilogy before sold well, as someone mentioned earlier.
@BAN let me go call simba then.
@Yanina You are clearly lying. You posted on this webpage with some kind of computer. It might be one that fits in your pocket, but it is a computer.
Hopefully, and still this year (though very unlikely).
@StevenG Busted!!
Yeah.... N.Sane trilogy arrived a year later on Switch AND Xbox One. The real comparison here is with Spyro, as the Switch version also leaked on the site before the official announcement.
Either way, I hope this comes to Switch, as I really became excited after seeing its State of Play trailer. I don't mind if the other consoles get it first.
