I am sort of curious what world-wide sales for Animal Crossing New Horizons currently stands at. Wouldn't surprise me if we were close to 20 million.
PS4 values incredible low. Reason?
@Max_the_German
The PS4 is near the end of its lifecycle, it launched in November of 2013.
People are now anticipating the PS5, so they're holding off on the PS4, or preferring the Pro model.

@MS7000
New Horizons reached 13.4 million copies sold in JP/US/EU by the end of April, so probably ~15 million copies sold globally by then.
20 million by the end of May is a bit too high; ~17 million is a safer estimate.
@RupeeClock Okay, but a decrease from 6.2k (11-17 May) to 3.8k (18-24 May) is still dramatic in my eyes. Cannot believe that the UE5 presentation had that big impact on PS4 sales in Japan.
Am I the only one that still plays new leaf?
Animal Crossing will reach 5 million Could it possibly reach bieng the highest selling game in Japan.
I wonder what Sony is thinking right now? If PS5 doesn’t launch this festive period because of COVID the switch is laughing all the way to the bank. Then next holiday season 2021 imagine the launch of Metroid 4 on the Switch Ultra / Super Switch / Switch pro / new Switch deluxe edition up against PS5. What a titanic battle that’s a win win for all concerned
@westman98 Ah, I may have missed that stat, The only stat I was aware of was the 12 million by the end of March. With that info taken into account, yes, 20 million does seem a bit high.
PS4 is almost 7 years.
Gosh... It felt like 7 days ago.
Time flies so fast.
@beazlen1 My thinking is that Sony really needs to come out with some titles that actually appeal to Japanese people as well as launch with a decent price point, otherwise they're really going to struggle over there. All these big western "AAA" games tend to sink without trace within weeks. And for Japanese software companies it seems the more they westernise their titles the worse they sell in Japan too.
It could be interesting to see how it goes down when the PS5 launches. Microsoft shouldn't even bother unless they have some tricks up their sleeve nobody knows about.
Why don’t we call Japan “Nintendo Nation”?
@Max_the_German I can't think of any new AAA PS4 exclusive titles that appeal to more than one demographic, and in my experience that's what moves consoles.
@GamerCrossing I currently don't, but so far that's all I need for when I get an occasional Animal Crossing itch. New Horizons on the radar by default but deep in the "maybe someday" tier.
@Cool_Squirtle Well, than Sony risks to lose pace in Japan. Ghost of Tsushima is from a US developer and maybe does not match the Japanease taste with its Assasin‘s Creed style, Tlou2 as well. Difficult situation for Sony, at least in Japan.
Not bad! New Horizons has a little ways to go to catch Wild World...

@nhsnork ok I guess?
Why won't they update Brain Age? It looks like they've let that game out to dry now...
Yeah I know but I just expected like a yes or no thing or something short. He just gave me a really detailed answer. Also why do u care?
@Max_the_German I agree, it feels like Sony has just given up for the last few years. Part of me feels like they're just saving a lot of wide appeal titles for the ps5 launch/era though.
Such is the Power of Nintendo!
At this point PlayStation seems to have given up on Japan and has gone full western. Most of its AAA first party games are made to appeal to the western market.
@GamerCrossing God forbid someone tries to talk to you like a person...
WHY THE HATEEE IM JUST 10 OKAY?! Look I'm sorry. There I understand I may a bit rude but I was giving my opinion great job ruining m day...
The PS4 is 7 years old
The Wii u is 8 years old.
The PS4 is not a Wii u.
@La-weejee true
@GamerCrossing You are fine and I play New Leaf too. I'm not interested in more Animal Crossing to be honest.
Thank god. And I understand but it's just really popular
Not a great shock, but the charts will be the Nintendo charts until PS5 releases.
Given the delay around it, there should be plenty of games at launch ... As long as covid hasn't messed up development, and it really should have minimal impact on software development for large titles, in development for years.
Nintendo will not want to launch around the same time as the PS5 ... They want to avoid competition. Maybe a year later. And switch is doing great.
Yeah you're right I mean. In the middle of COVID they released acnh and so many people bought it. I'd say that it might be a tad too expensive at $60. Not to mention if you don't have a switch or a switch lite. It's their way of saying "buy the Nintendo switch! Because animal crossing!" I also would buy a switch right now just for animal crossing. Nobody knows what will happen. But my guess is that Nintendo will continue publishing games. well until PS5. That's just my opinion.
I just noticed. What I said was completely random. Oooooof
I wonder if the increase in Splatoon 2 sales is related to the Splatfest last weekend.
Wow! That's some sales alright.
Well, I guess the 'expert' doom mongerers who were all adamantly predicting just four short years ago, that Nintendo were DEFINITELY going to "do a sega" and quit the hardware race, after the not so stellar WiiU sales must be really enjoying a rather considerably large slice of humble pie right about now.
To be fair I'm looking forward to all of the next gen consoles from the big Three. I've definitely got a niggling feeling that Sony simply aren't going to homerun it so easy this time around though! Microsoft definitely look like they've they've learnt a considerable amount for this upcoming next gen battle, especially considering their last generation 'thrashing'
More importantly though, I'm 100% definitely interested in where Nintendo are going next with the Switch family though? More graphical horsepower is pretty much a given, it has to be against Series X and PS5.
Don't get me wrong here, we're definitely not going to see a Switch Pro model coming anywhere near the aforementioned hardware specs of Sony and Microsofts offerings. But if Nintendo can produce an improved Switch that's in the same ballpark as a PS4 Pro, then me, personally, I'd be more than happy at that. Anything else after that would simply be a nice bonus.
Saying that this is Nintendo we're talking about. So they'll probably just skip the graphical upgrades and concentrate on a brand new innovative way that we can all play simply by using the power of our brainwaves alone. Failing that, a new foot, genital or pancreas powered controller could be in development as we speak! 😂🦶🦶
AND they'll probably be looking into a way to incorporate our pets into enjoying gaming as well.
Colour me intrigued.
