The Resident Evil series has resurfaced in recent years – with Capcom remaking and re-releasing a number of classic entries. There have even been rumours about more remakes, and a completely new game, in recent weeks.
With this in mind, it's incredibly sad to hear Paul Haddad – the voice of Leon Kennedy in Resident Evil 2 – has passed away at the age of 56. The cause of death has not been revealed. Invader Studios – an indie software house located in Italy – who had recently worked with Haddad on a survival horror homage to Resident Evil, paid tribute to him via Twitter:
Haddad may have been best known within the gaming community for playing one of the main characters in Resident Evil 2, but he also had an acting career in film, television and featured in cartoons like The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.
The original Resident Evil 2 game was released on the first PlayStation in 1998, got ported across to Nintendo 64, Dreamcast and Windows the following year, and eventually arrived on GameCube in 2003.
On behalf of the Nintendo Life community, our condolences go out to Paul's family and friends.

I wouldn't be surprised if the rona had something to do with this. RIP.
RIP. He was involved as a voice actor in lots of shows I watched as a kid including Noddy according to his Wiki page.
That’s a huge shame, that’s no age at all.
They're dropping like flies. Just last week it was the voice actor for peppy hare in star fox. 😢
@nessisonett You’re absolutely right, man. 56 is no age at all. Very sad news. I sincerely hope his loved ones receive all the love and support they need at this incredibly difficult time.
@Zeldafan79 Now everyone knows how extreme an occupation voice acting is. Ranks next after parkour I guess. RIP Paul.
"Hey, it's up to us to take out Umbrella."
Sad to hear. I miss the days when celebrities died in 3's, not 33's.
Not even a picture of the man himself ?

And 56 is no age at all by rights that should have been 96.
I read it was a brain tumour.
Bad crack like.
Terrible.
@Liam_Doolan I think it's pretty safe to update the article, because the cause of his passing is most definitely known:
"Haddad stated on a YouTube live stream that he suffered from stage three throat cancer and had a tumor growing on one of his vocal chords." ~ Wikipedia
I guess because of Coronavirus.
@TAndvig Read what ThanosReXXX said. It's NOT related to covid-19.
Two more days until my third year survival anniversary date.
For those of you who don't know what that is, it's my day of CANCER diagnoses, It's basically your cancer celebration of life.
All I can say is, I would NEVER wish what I went through on my WORST enemy. EVER!! This man suffered like you would never imagine. All the love and respect to him and his family.
Rest in peace x x x x x x.
Ripperoni in pepperoni
Does anybody know which episode(s) of Super Mario Bros. 3 he was in? It isn’t even listed on his IMDB page.
Really sad news. When I think of Leon Kennedy's voice, I always think of his from the original RE2.
@Smug43
May there be many more anniversaries.
And that it never comes back.
@ThanosReXXX
And a picture of the man himself. Even Kotaku managed that.
That's sad news, Rest In Peace.
I do wish people would stop immediately jumping to the suggestion that COVID-19 is the cause of death these days though. The media does enough of that without regular, sensible people contributing to it.
@Crimson_Ridley Fair enough, I just get tired of hearing about people dying from it, and these days it feels like it's all you hear when it comes to people passing. Sadly it sounds like he was battling cancer. My condolences.
In before OMG the coronavirus struck again.
@Smug43 keep on rolling bro!
A-DAAAAAAAA!!!
Damn....we are losing too many in 2020...and it's only April. 😔
I hate hearing the word Coronavirus now since its like the very first thing the media talks about nowadays. Like can't we just go on with our lives and stop worrying about if it takes us all. I mean, we're bound to die at some point in our lives no offense to anyone, but I just hate hearing or even thinking of that word.
I'm sorry this isn't the place to talk randomly about this, but to those that think he died of the virus, do some research before immediately jumping to that conclusion. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go take a rest from this salty rant.
@KitsuneNight Yeah, I saw that. Not the most flattering picture, though...
Terrible news. May he Rest In Peace.
@JayJ I think it was confirmed it was throat cancer
@Shiro28 Yeah that was brought up well after this article was originally posted, I don't know why they made no mention of that considering the current situation.
Rest in peace.
