UK chart data is now in for the week ending 7th March, revealing that Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX has debuted at the very top of the pile.
The game managed to outsell last week's number one Call of Duty: Modern Warfare to take the crown, knocking the likes of that and FIFA 20 down a place or two in the charts. In terms of physical sales, Rescue Team DX's debut sales are 37.6% higher than those for the spin-off series' last game, Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon on the 3DS.
In total, four Switch exclusives made their way into the top ten this week.
Here's a look at this week's top ten all formats chart:
Last Week | This Week | |

That is such great news! It’s such a great series and I have a feeling that they are using sales of this to gauge interest In a new entry.
Are there even people in the UK who still doesn't have GTA V?
@kopaka haha that's what I thought! Imagine how long it'll stay on top for if it ever came to switch?
@kopaka
No doubt lots of kids who still don't have it but want it.
Well I'm slightly suprised, I thought people my age would buy it because of nostalgia but I wasn't expecting it to be number one.
I guess the Pokémon name really sells, I doubt the demo helped shift that many copies...
@Optimumjay
It sold 120 million units and is the third best selling game ever.
It needs to be on top ?
@KitsuneNight This is the Uk, a lot of stupid parents let their kids play it, along with Fortnite and COD.
Pokémon Mystery Dungeon arrived on Saturday, but it’s for my son’s birthday in April.
@dew12333 The game is in the Top Five globally. It's because whenever anyone buys a PS4 or Xbox One, it's one of the 'gotta have this one' games. See: Mario Kart 8: Deluxe
@dew12333
Yeah, and then they complain about it not being suitable for their kid despite the massive 18 on the cover.
Which is just there for decoration I am sure.
@Dringo
Or packed with the console.
I really hope it sells well worldwide, i want an Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky Remake or a brand new one
I did a quick count on NintendoEverything and 25 games in the top 40 are available on Switch and a lot of them are exclusives. Nintendo is really back in business in the UK.
@dew12333
I agree with your statement about cod and gtaV, but fortnite is no worst than when pokémon battle.
It's only at number 1 because there is nothing else new out to be competition
@jswhitfield8 I don't have it either.
@kopaka I don’t. It’s too many gigs on pc 🙄
@GVIL Shooting someone in the face is the same as a pokemon battle, really! Is that the argument you used when you convinced your mum to let you play it.
I'm fairly convinced at this point that, when all is said and done, no game is ever going to outsell GTA V.
Strong launch for PMD RT:DX.
@KitsuneNight There are not many GTA bundles at all
@RPGamer It's not bad either. Having played it for a couple of hours now, I think it's quite alright. Probably a 7/10 and great in small doses.
Not surprised. Pokemon is basically the COD in Nintendo Land.
They releasing 1 a year. Will not matter how much effort goes into it, what money making schemes get attached to it or even if the same game with better graphics.
It will sell. People who disagree will say "sales show people will buy anything"... other side "#1 sales show it is good".
Well deserved Pokemon, it's one if the greatest franchises ever made.
@Agramonte This is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon not the main line series. There hasn't been a new game in at least five years. I hope this revives the series.
@Agramonte
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games are not mainline Pokemon games. Surely you cant be this ignorant?
Super Mystery Dungeon on 3DS charted at #9 when it launched back in 2016. The original Rescue Team on GBA/NDS charted at #14/#34 when it launched back in 2006.
@kopaka Possibly, but there are also people who will rebuy the game just to get the Shark Card bundled with the game.
Cool to see Pokemon hit number #1 - will pick it up eventually, art style looks great.
@NandN3ds @westman98 That it is mainline or not is irrelevant to my point.
Obvious It does not matter what they do at this point - it just needs to have the word Pokemon on it. And once said and done - Good sales is "people buy crap"... or "See, it is good" depending on what camp you in
Same dynamic, different Logo. It even extends to Mobile for both IPs
@Agramonte
The last 2 Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games on 3DS have sold 1-2 million copies.
The last 5 new mainline Pokemon games on GBA/NDS/3DS have sold 15-17 million copies. Sword/Shield looks to sell 20 million copies.
People can definitely tell the difference between a mainline games vs spin-offs.
It's the only thing on the list that's new - so I can't say I am surprised.
I want to make fun of the UK for letting this mediocre game get to #1, but I'll hold on to that until I see what the game does in America.
And never forget:
The UK let Aliens: Colonial Marines hit #1😂
@RPGamer It's definitely not a masterpiece, but it's perfect for shorter play sessions IMO. It won't leave a lasting impression, but at the moment I'm having fun.
@dew12333
There is no blood in fortnite just like pokémon, power rangers and a whole lot of programs aimed at children.
I have never asked my mother if I could play any game. I wish I could ask her now but I can not as she passed away over nine years ago.
Besides I was old enough to play 18 rated games before games had ratings.
@Ralizah I wouldn't be shocked if GT VI has a chance to whenever it comes out. The series is just insanely popular.
