Like a common cold or that pesky bit of limescale wreaking havoc in your washing machine, there's just no escaping Funko Pops these days. The latest gaming-related Pop! has just been revealed, and this time fans are being treated to a new figure of Shantae.
The team at WayForward, developer of the Shantae series of games including the likes of Shantae and the Pirate's Curse and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero, has announced the new toy on Twitter. Funko has also uploaded a page for the figure on its website, but it shows little more than the image below at present.
It's been quite a day for gaming Funko Pops, as we've also just heard about four new Pokémon Pops said to be "coming soon". The Pokémon range is growing at a pretty alarming rate, actually.
Do you like Funko Pops? Will you be adding this one to your collection when it releases? Let us know below.

why not Shantae Pop eating a flesh pop?
I'll wait for the Totaku figurine, thank you very much.
Well that doesn't look monstrous and soul less at all
It has more going for then a normal Funko Pop but its stil a Funko Pop.
Just when I think I’m out, they pull me back in.
I absolute love the Shantae games, but I am unsure about having her stare at me everyday. Although that purple hair is well done and ready for whipping enemies.
Didn't I remember an announcement of a new Shantae game coming soon? Does anyone else remember that?
I only buy funko’s I really like + all kingdom hearts and 90th anniversary mickey mouse funko’s but this one falls under the I really like it category.
@dugan Shantae and the Seven Sirens is the new one due out sometime soon.
I'll probably get this and the Totaku figure when they come out.
At least you can tell this one is meant to be Shantae. Some Pop vynals are hard to figure out what character they are supposed to be.
Also, Shantae for Smash!
I really do not understand why this ugly thing is so successful (not Shantae, she is gorgeous, I mean Funkos). Those things are very generic and not worth the price.
I just don't get Funko Pops. To me they look awful. The fact that there are so many produced suggests that they are successful though.
Hahaha! I also came here to praise Shantae, and talk trash on Pop figurines. I see I am I'm good company.
@BionicDodo
People think they wil be expensive collectibles one day ?
I don't particularly like Funko Pop figures, for the most part, but it's cute enough, and I do want to support Shantae merchandise, so I'll probably be picking it up
She'll sit on my desk and stare at me as I work with her beady, soulless eyes.
@Nomad Thank you, I can't wait!
Come on, Smash reveal!
Apparently there is going to be a Totaku Figure of Shantae, which I think would be way better than the Funko Pop figure.
Cool, too bad Funko Pop figures look terrible.
I don't like pop figures but it's good that shantae is getting widely available merchandise
Seriously, why? Why does Funko have to ruin stuff with their Pops?
@tobsesta99
Cause they want your money.
Rather have an amiibo.
@dugan Shantae and the Seven Sirens. The game was released for iOS in September 2019, macOS in October 2019, with Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions scheduled for release in early 2020.
@OrangeSoda: Totally agree. It'd be really cool if the character was in Smash Ultimate, or the inevitable next one a few years from now.
Ah'...i think i get it now as to why funkos are so popular.. They all look like new born babies of the characters they portray, and are dolls for adults, but kept in their box looking out (their womb) in disappointment theyll never be born. kinda sad really. but tbh, i only want 2 kids at the most, and financially im not ready for any babies yet lol..pass, but baby steps for those that want kids later i guess. They can have their desired babies, without the care and stress involved in raising them.
@setezerocinco @BionicDodo : I share the sentiment. I do love the fact that they cover such a broad range of brands and characters, but they're so ugly and quite often virtually indistinguishable except for characters/brands that are already very distinctive (obviously a Simpsons/Pokémon/comic character is going to stand out from a character from a live action sitcom).
@TekSone Thank you for the information!
@KitsuneNight
Nope. The more valuable Funko Pops are usually only 30 bucks at most. I do buy Funko Pops for shelf display if I see any I like but I don't collect them. I will probably buy this Shantae Pop.
@MortalKombat2007
I wasn't exactly serious.
More like having a stab at why these things are popular and making a reference to the comic book boom.
Okay, this isn’t that bad. I think cartoony characters work much better for Pops than others. I have 4 Pops: Lucio, McCree, Bob Ross, and Canti. Lucio and McCree are already cartoony and I actually really like their Pop designs, though I don’t know why; Canti is actually pretty detailed for a cheap figure (especially since the other FLCL figures I can find online are expensive) and doesn’t have eyes anyway; and Bob Ross just works for some reason.
@tobsesta99 I don't really see how it's ruining anything. Shantae isn't somehow a worse series now. This can really only be a good thing for Shantae fans, even if you don't like Funko Pop figures. More merchandise means more money and market appeal.
@TekSone No, it wasn't. Apple Arcade got a demo and that's it. It's less than an hour long. They may call it "Part 1" and that "Part 2" is coming later, but it's misleading. Seven Sirens is going to be a bigger, longer game than Pirate's Curse, says Wayforward, and Pirate's Curse was about 13 hours long. Not calling it a demo may have enticed more people to get Apple Arcade to try it, but it was still a demo.
this will be the first (an probably only) Funko Pop I ever order just because its Shantae and looks decent.
