Bloober Team, the studio behind games like Layers of Fear: Legacy, BRAWL and Observer, has today shared a cryptic little video on Twitter. It appears to tease a new cyberpunk horror game, and all signs are pointing towards it being an Observer sequel.
You can see the tease - a 30-second video with looped footage - for yourself below. The whole thing screams Observer to us, but as spotted by our friends over at Push Square, one fan cracked a piece of binary code flashing on-screen which appears to really give the game away (literally).
Yes, "Daniel are you there?" is likely referencing Daniel Lazarski, the protagonist of the original game. Speaking of the original, we really enjoyed our time with it when playing it for review so a sequel would be most welcome indeed. Here's a snippet of what we said:
"Despite threatening to fizzle under the weight of its reverence for Blade Runner, Observer manages to craft an impressive and affecting horror experience on Switch that doesn’t outstay its welcome... This port walks a technical tightrope and falters a little in docked mode, but fares much better as a handheld experience – its ambition and rich world-building are admirable enough to make up for any technical shortcomings.
All will be revealed soon, we're sure. Until then, though, why not let us know if you'd be up for a sequel to Observer in the comments below.

Seems cool but need more details.
I guess this means I need to actually finish the first one lol. I enjoyed it so far, but there were just too many other important games that came out that took my attention from it.
This is one game that i wish would've come out physically because of the large gigabyte commitment.
Rutger Hauer passed away last year. It’d be amazing if he somehow completed work on a sequel before his passing. Great actor, will never forget his role in Blade Runner.
I started playing the original a few days ago but I'm struggling to get into it. I absolutely loved Layers of Fear and am patiently waiting for them to announce the Switch port of the sequel, so I thought I'd enjoy Observer for sure but it's just not happening for me yet. I'll stick with it though.
Observer is great with an interesting story, world and a strong sense of dread throughout so a sequel is welcome.
That said, I think Bloober team are biting way off than they can chew.. they're releasing a horror game a year and sure, they're all visually stunning with interesting concepts but with Blair Witch you can really tell they are on track of diminishing returns. Their quality is dropping off and I'd really like to see them try something new or put more heart in one project specifically. Perhaps this is the project that will prove me wrong?
We know what happens to companies who don't try anything new and succumb to a loop with diminishing returns...look at where Telltale ended up.
Ohh if there is indeed a sequel, colour me pink with excitement. Love the first game and I’m hoping Rutger Hauer had some pre recorded dialogue for this. He is sorely missed, every day.
@OorWullie It gets better the further you get into it. It suffers a bit from being part Layers of Fear (the good part) and part... walking around an apartment complex.
@Varkster I agree, it seems like every game they've released has been slightly worse than the one before it, and they're still a bit overreliant on the same tricks as the original Layers of Fear, which are becoming less and less surprising and novel every game. I'd love to see them make a big return though.
@HeroponRiki What bums me out is that Observer, in my opinion, is their best game so far. It has such an interesting setting and great world building with some in-depth messed up themes which reach out to games like SOMA. Hell, there is even "side-quests" in the game and lots of missable content and flavor text.
Clearly Bloober Team know how to flesh out a game but it seems like their restricted time frame making game after game is limiting their ability to do so. Real shame because they are very talented developers.
This same sentiment goes towards Red Barrel (Outlast) and arguably even Frictional (Amnesia/SOMA). I honestly think we have way too many walking "spook" simulators nowadays, we need more games like Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Evil Within to balance things out..
The amount of PT-like games on Kickstarter is surreal and it's all gotten far too repetitive. Talented developers like the three I've listed should not fall into this cycle.
