If you're a regular visitor of our humble site, you may have already seen a selection of new screenshots from Animal Crossing: New Horizons that have been doing the rounds over the last few hours or so. They were spotted at an event held by Nintendo Latin America, and we were so excited by the new clothing options they showed that we overlooked an even more important detail.
Yes, that's right, the new game appears to feature some series-first customisable face options. In the images below, we can see different nose and mouth shapes - which amazingly haven't been possible in the series so far. These changes are available alongside the ability to change your skin tone, a feature which was revealed earlier this year.
Clearly, we still don't know everything there is to know about character customisation at this point, so we may well have one or two more welcome surprises in store. That 20th March release date can't come soon enough, can it?
Are you happy to see more customisation options available in the game? Are you looking forward to this one? Let us know in the comments.

The triangle nose is iconic though!
Real talk, I need this game out now. Mobile animal crossing was never going to cut it.
Can I get the viking helmet though?
I’m looking forward to this one. Lazy question but does anyone know how the two player set up works?
Also, digging the detail on that Monarch Butterfly
As I mentioned in the other post, it's about DANG TIME they add a skin tone option. One of my main gripes finally solved. Having to keep up with that stupid 'tanning' bs or use my mii mask or w/e was super annoying.
Really looking forward to this at any rate because AC is a fun series and about as evergreen as you can get.
@Yorumi I was a little excited for thepbile entry since, out of all the games, that one kinda made sense. I could see it working fabulously.
Then they went and messed it up and got greedy.
@KIRO I know, right? That's pretty accurate for a game that would usually just have 1 or 2 colours + variants. I wonder if lepindopterology is going to be a thing here? Show off a butterfly and moth collection. That would work well with the day and night differences.
This game will consume my life. I know it.
I've never really played Animal Crossing series though I've always wanted to. I tried the GC for a bit but I had other games I played and this just got put on the back shelf (I also bought it second hand so didn't have the memory card or other features).
I'm almost certainly getting this though, even if it means selling some other games to appease a certain other member of my family.
My remaining NSO Game Voucher is destined for Animal Crossing.
My youngest is so excited for this game! He still plays pocket camp pretty regularly and I can't wait to get this for him! Hopefully there will be a LE Lite or at least some Joycons when it releases.
So close... I plan on trying to clear my overall backlog (movies, books, Netflix queue included) before March to devote all my focus on New Horizons
@LavaTwilight I'd love it there was some kind of variation with the bugs/fish - like if you caught 2 ladybirds that they'd have different spots
@LavaTwilight nah, just use the ‘oh this? Yeh I have had it in my closet for ages’ 🤪
This will be my first dip into the AC ocean and I am very excited to try it out.
I'm also quite happy this very possibly also means the game will have Latin Spanish! Goodbye, crappy exclusively Spain's spanish translations!
Possibly the biggest game for me in 2020.
@shonenjump86 Yeah, I haven't played AC since Gamecube so I'm MEGA hyped. Might be the only game I have TIME for in 2020 lol.
This is the game I’ve been waiting for since the Switch was announced. So close, yet so far away.
@CairiB they'll know it was just released. I've used that line one too many times...
And the one about 'finding' an amiibo in a charity shop...
Well I think I will consider this title as I am an Animal Crossing fan. So I look forward to it.
@LavaTwilight I get you, I have been married long enough now to know that neither myself or my husband believe that line to be honest. I sell to buy quite often too. Couldn’t pre order it now and consider it your Christmas present? Considering doing that myself!
@Yorumi sounds like I am jumping on board at just the right time then!
At first, I wasn't sure what to think of the new nose shapes but I like them; at least they fit within the design. The triangle nose will always be iconic to me, though.
@KIRO You mean playing with someone on the same system? Nintendo did a presentation of this (back at E3?); it's sort of like how Luigi's Mansion 3 does it. The camera will follow both of you until the second player reaches a certain point, then will warp to the main character (the one that owns the island).
March seems like an infinity away. Can't wait to play this with my Mom and my brother. My brother and I got my Mom a Switch to get her ready. (She's been playing other casual games like Farm Together in the meantime, which she likes a lot.)
@Iacobus ah, I see. That sounds like a good time to me! Thanks.
That something as minor as nose and mouth shape customisation can be deemed a newsworthy new feature just reinforces my reservations about Animal Crossing.
@GhostGeneration I Wish played the Game Cube one back in the day, I started out with the Wii game but it was New Leaf on 3DS that got me hooked.
You guys may have noticed that they have only shown flimsy tools so far... I believe I know what the rest will be.
1. Flimsy
2. Standard (Like the ones you buy from Nook's shop in earlier games)
3. Silver
4. Gold
A fifth Titanium level would be cool, I doubt that'll happen though.
If Nintendo could add eye direction, that would be dope. I want to be able to look forward with the eyes that have purple eyelids.
How is this showing more customization option?? kind of click baited article was this?? I already knew that animal crossing has the language settings on it -it's always been there lol.
I never even noticed the noses were triangles before.
I was actually looking forward to this, but one island only per system is killing a good chunk of my interest, as we ALL love Animal Crossing in our house (my wife and both my kids love the series).
And I'm not to buy a Switch system for everyone just so each can have their own island. This is ridiculous. Such a family-friendly game that turns out to be one that would generate a lot of conflicts... I mean... come on. We all know kids... One day one will cut all trees just to piss off his sister, or vice-versa...
I love the series... but I may have to sadly pass on this one... too much family conflicts potential here....
@shonenjump86 The GC one was rad, lost countless hours to that one. Really stoked for this to come out.
@Lalivero
You realise that changing your skin tone has been a thing since Happy Home Designer, right? I was expecting it to return in NH too, but I'm really looking forward to these more customisable faces!
@Realnoize As someone who shared animal crossing on DS with my little brother, I feel you there. We had so much fighting over Decor choices in the house haha
