One of the standout indie titles this year was Untitled Goose Game by the Australian-based developer House House Games. The game got a digital release on the Nintendo Switch and PC in September and more recently arrived on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
In October, we found out downloads were in "excess of 100,000" and now the co-founder of Panic (the publisher of Untitled Goose Game) Cabel Sasser has revealed the title has passed one million sales worldwide three months after the original launch. This figure combines digital sales across all platforms.
The reaction was beyond anything we could have imagined. The fan art, the writing, yes the memes, protest signs, Chrissy Teigen, Muppets?! It feels once-in-a-lifetime. We hope we brought some joy into your life, because you brought so much into ours. And we'll never forget it.
House House previously said Untitled Goose had been so successful, it could continue to make games for as long as it liked. In November, the developer also won the breakthrough award at the 37th Golden Joystick Awards in London, "thanks to the to the enduring popularity of its stealth puzzle gem", Untitled Goose Game.

"I Think I Will Create Good Games On Purpose"
A game literally called "Untitled Goose Game" selling a million copies...does put a smile on my face. I hope we get a sequel called Titled Goose Game.
This just proves there's a massive untapped market for aggressive goose simulators.
1,000,000 times better than Mario 3, Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, BotW, Galaxy 1 & 2, Majora's and Odyssey combined.
This is so odd.... I just bought this tonight. Did I shove em Over the edge of 1M? 🤣😂
Time for get physical release. 😉
It can be by Limited Run Games or Super Rare Games.
Still waiting for a physical version. Pretty, pretty please.
I would have bought it on PC by now had it been on GOG or if there was an otherwise DRM free version.
And to think these are the same publishers that are making the upcoming handheld, the Playdate, which is coming out in early 2020. Honestly can't wait to see how innovative this little piece of device will play like.
@JHDK Definitely far better than the overrated messes that were the Galaxy games.
As others are, I am holding out for a physical, as my backlog is massive enough, and can only keep track if I have a game case.
If I went digital my switch would be full of stuff, that I would never play.
So, when do we get Untitled Goose Sequel?
@JHDK I love UGG. That said, your comment is, in the words of Kryten, complete and utter shash.
That's honktastic!
Peace was never an option
Am so happy to hear that this has been a resounding success. A beautiful game, with a gorgeous atmosphere. Being a non-stop nuisance and annoyance never gets old! 😆
Honk honk good stuff. Gotta play this 👍
Yeah, that's very honky!
That’s great for them but honestly this game kept my interest for about 20 minutes and I haven’t touched it since.
I want play it but waiting for a physical release (please).
Evidence you don't need a big budget to make a good game, just need a good idea and game design creativity.
This game is soo overrated
1 million sold and still no sign of a physical release... i really want to buy this game so i shall continue to wait!
This one is definitely on my radar, but it'll be a bit before I grab it. I need to thin the backlog herd a little.
I'll add my vote to say that though I found this to be a charming game, I also soon lost interest. My partner owns the game, but in the end, I never bought it myself.
I guess wandering around and honking like crazy just isn't my thing.
@UntitledBGender You are technically correct, the best kind of correct!
Hjönk Hjönk (And other various Swedish goose noises)
@retro_player_22 I saw it, but it's just to expensive like 200$ plus for a black and white console with a crank. no thanks
This studio is very Nintendo in many ways, Nintendo should pick them up honestly while allowing them to do whatever wacky stuff they want
This game brought my sister-in-law and me a lot of laughs over the past months. SKRÆP SKRÆP!!
Congratulations on the success, you've concocted a true modern classic with the combination of greeting card illustration visuals, piano accompanied silent movie comedy, and sneak-em-up mechanics!
