Earlier this week we heard how the original Yo-Kai Watch game for Switch would be receiving online battle support, and now Level-5 has uploaded a second trailer for the game to its official YouTube channel.
As short as it is, this one provides a much better look at the gameplay and high-definition graphics. It's due out in Japan on 10th October, but sadly there's been no mention of it being localised just yet.
If you're keen to find out more about how this series started out, be sure to check out our review of the 3DS version.

This looks great. As I mentioned in the other comments, I started playing the original on 3DS recently. Really glad I did as I never thought about checking out the series before, I wouldn't mind replaying it on my TV via docked mode.
Hopefully it uses the improved systems its later siblings used and not use the painful original systems.
The theme tune is really catchy
This is a decent game, though I do hope they alter the battle system this time around. The turn wheel was an interesting idea, but it was at times cumbersome. I don't feel like it really shined much outside of boss battles.
They were planning on putting a handheld game on the Wii U? Clearly this is a Wii U game quickly ported over to Switch like Odyssey was. I'm surprised they'd put a handheld game on a home console, but not too surprised, they ported Link's Awakening to Switch, another handheld game put on a home console. That's great and all, but I think handheld games should stay on handheld systems, and Switch Lite is a home console according to Wikipedia (it's a Switch and Switch is only a home console meant to replace the failed Wii U according to them, thus Switch Lite is a home console). When Nintendo's next handheld comes out, I'm all over that, they've been pushing their home console, the Switch, for a long time now.
@gamefreak77 I think Handheld games are a good fit on the Switch as it is a console and handheld hybrid. The Switch lite is basically a handheld that can play console games. There would be no point releasing a new handheld now as it would just compete with the Switch.
Honestly, i never really liked the 1st yo kai game, I really liked 2, and I absolutely loved 3, but 1 never really clicked with me, but this does look really good on switch
This looks really nice in HD. Hopefully it gets localized soon.
@gamefreak77 This arbitrary distinction between handheld/home console games was largely a result of technical limitations in the past. Limitations that Nintendo is clearly no longer concerned with.'
Switch games are Switch games. And they can be played on both hybrid (Switch Phat) and dedicated handheld (Switch Lite) consoles.
@Doofenshmirtz I completely agree! Yo-Kai Watch 1 wasn’t worth finishing, Yo-Kai Watch 2 was a blast, and Yo-Kai Watch 3 is fantastic (I still need to finish it haha)! Thank you Heinz, you’re a true intellectual
@MH4 @Doofenshmirtz I played only about halfway through the first. Not that I thought it was terrible but because other games came out and I fell out with YW1. But from the sounds of it, I should check out the sequels, too. Repurchasing the first on the Switch, too.
@Franz I’ll definitely be buying 1 on Switch when it comes out. I played 1 after 2 and 2’s improvements ruined 1 for me. It’s not bad at all, but nowhere near as good as the sequels.
Never played the first one, so it's time to check it out.
Any excuse to enjoy this once again... Nintendo Europe Directs are not the same without Satoru Shibata!

I love the Yo-Kai series. I have done since the beginning. Have all of the games and they are so much fun. I would buy it again for Switch.
Fantastic game, really hope it comes out over here.
Oh boy! I'm so far halfway through with the first anime series, and I considered Yokai watch to be far more fun than Pokemon in that field, so trying out the first game is bound to be a blast! My favorites so far include Komasan and Fubuki-chan.
Would be so down for ports of 2 and 3. Don't know about this one.
Hope it does well enough for them to port the others though.
Yokai 2 and especially Yokai 3 were the better ones on 3ds.
In Yokai 1 the befriending was too random, very frustrating. Hope they changed that.
@gamefreak77 lolwut. Odessey was never planned for the Wii U. You do now the devs had knowledge of the Switch before it released right?
I'm planning on importing it. I played the original 3DS game and have a decent knowledge of Japanese, so I'm going to just play it in Japanese
Yokai watch 1 if my favorite of the series so I can't wait to play through it again
I played through the first game on 3DS and it was a fun run, but I don't see myself double-dipping for it so soon just because its on Switch. If the other games jumped over though, I might be convinced.
