Now that Nintendo has revealed its latest game Ring Fit Adventure to the world, finer details about how it will be distributed are beginning to emerge. On the My Nintendo Store in Japan, a special digital version of the game has been discovered.
It will still come with the Ring-Con and Leg Strap but instead of a physical copy of the game, you'll receive a download code.
Thanks to this listing, the file size of this RPG-fitness adventure has also been revealed. The game will take up 2.8 GB of space on your Switch, which isn't much at all by today's standards. We'll just have to wait and see if this digital deal makes its way across to the west.
Ring Fit Adventure launches next month on 18th October and will be available for a suggested retail price of $79.99 USD (European pricing to be confirmed).

$80 for an elastic plastic ring. And I thought cardboard was the worst of it all.
@Godlike_Virus
$80 = Ring Fit (approximate $20) + the game ($60)
Just what we need, more tat.
@Anti-Matter Oh..thank you for dissecting my comment in attempt to make sense of it all. What ever would I have done.
So uh...
Yeah...
This is a thing alright...
Yup...
I mean, its not BAD...
But...
So uh... when are we gonna get that $80 styrofoam Switch accessory?
Edit: Before anyone asks, no I don’t hate the Plastic Ring. I actually think it looks cool.
@SpicyBurrito16 As soon as Nintendo invents the Nintendo bin bag to put it in.
Bunch of fools up in these comments.
@Godlike_Virus you seem like a friendly fella
It's not the type of game for everyone.
Please, let those who like the concept to like it. Don't judge.
I hate coffee. But I understand people who buy USD$20 iced coffee in plastic cups.
@Olmectron Same here. When folks are ready to drop extra money on limited editions of games for all the extras, does it make sense to be a negative ‘tude about this? Especially if someone never intended to get it? Whatever floats your watermelon, I suppose.
@Godlike_Virus Software comes with it too, genius... 🙄
@EVIL-C Mm...must be nice, I'm sure.
🎵 "O Canada..." 🎵
@JamesJose7 I am, really. I try to be. Some just like to test one's patience, either quickly or slowly. No pity for the majority, however. A creed I've learned to live by. 🖤
@Godlike_Virus Just stating the fact that your comment is substantively wrong. Full stop.
Imma going to get that game and become the ultimate Lord of the Ring.
Trolls abound when Nintendo innovates but they keep living under the bridge. Stay in your hole the rest of us will keep moving forward.
@Godlike_Virus "$80 for an elastic plastic ring. And I thought cardboard was the worst of it all."
Don't get out of the house much. More air might inspire more cellular growth thinking outside of the inbox.
In Nintendo's Ring Fit video they say "This isn't just any ring, it's actually an electronic device that senses and reacts to your movements." so I'm not sure if they're using the term "electronic device" liberally because of the attached Joy-con or if there may actually be electronics within the ring itself, as opposed to "just a plastic ring."
I think the price is a little steep since the software doesn't look that substantial, but in a market where we're paying $60 for Link's Awakening I'm not entirely surprised (don't get me wrong, I'm super hyped for Link's Awakening, but IMO it should be $50 tops, probably $40.)
@SwitchForce I'm glad you know so much about me. : )
The joy con are advanced enough to make the ring fun even if it doesn't have any extra electronics in it. All that matters is that the software run at 60fps and that it's fun! Lol
I've just got to remind people that Nintendo made Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, which is amazingly fun. I think this thing could be just as dumb looking/embarrassing looking while being just as fun to play it you can set aside your ego about looking good/cool. I love the bongos, balance board, wiimotes, joy con, Labo, etc so I'm probably going to like this adventure.
@Godlike_Virus Is singing my countries' anthem supposed to be an insult? Canada, imperically, being one of the best countries in the world to live in. That's what you choose to target? Not the substance of the topic at hand; Ring Fit Adventure?
Watch your conduct with others. Report sent.
If the digital version comes with a discount (I doubt it with expedition costs) it could be interesting.
@EVIL-C Don't forget to mute him.
There's no need to read people who enjoy being annoying.
@neufel Good point. You're correct. Thank you very much.
I will never buy this.
I for one love this idea. Anything that can get people more active and turn exercising into fun games is a boon in my book.
As for the price, honestly exactly what I expected it considering it’s software and hardware. As for the ring, it’s more than just plastic as there’s at least something in it to detect on how much you are pressuring the ring - don’t think it can capture all that with the joy-con gyro.
@Jeaz
Off topic.
Is that your avatar moving ?
Kinda a little bit creepy when my eyes noticed a tiny movement on the facial expression.
@EVIL-C Actually...
Before you were so swift to report me, and whether or not you muted me at this point, I have the utmost respect and admiration for Canada. I love the country. I have a couple friends online that live there. I simply just thought of the anthem when I saw the maple leaf and just felt like applying the lyrics in my comment replies to you. At least I put them -appropriately- and not a parody/mock-up variation like some would've done. So if anything, consider it a tribute from a nobody living in a small town in Georgia, USA. Hell, many of time I wish I could freaking move there to tell the truth.
But nevermind. 'Tis fine. Enjoy your evening and, sorry I gave an opinion on the pricing of an elastic plastic ring and game? Guess that's not what a comment section is supposed to be...guess I should love it no matter what. 🐏
There should be some Electronic in there (ring). There is a moment in the video where they check their Heart Beat Rate. I think the Part where you Plug the joy con in has some electronic in it which should be driven by the joy con batteries.
But we will see
It’s likely to be a fairly simple force transducer in the ring that senses the bend and relays to attached JoyCon, they are very cheap. I will get this and hopefully the wife and kids will get into it too. I hope they add balance board functionality. Even if just for recording weight. There must be so many balance boards lying around in lofts.
A PHYSICAL thing coming with a download code?? WHAT???
And $80?? When you can get a ring like that for like $10, I doubt the game is worth $70
My god Nintendo, really???
I want to get this because it's just so bizarre. £80 is a lot. I'd like to know more about the ring though. Is there actually tech in it, or is just a plastic shell? I think this will depend on whether I get it at launch or wait for some offers.
@Godlike_Virus Damn dude, who hurt you?
Looks interesting if not the game-changer of Wii Fit and Motion Plus. I'd have preferred Nintendo had just concentrated the software on exercise than a hybrid of both exercise and adventure game. Still, I'm always happy when Nintendo continues to innovate and experiment. Some of it sticks, some misses, but, that's the nature of experiments. Certainly a lot more original than remasters which the self proclaimed 'hardcore' covet.
@Godlike_Virus "elastic plastic ring" that's able to track body movement
really tho most games and controllers are over $50 these days anyway it's nothing really new
and again no one if forcing you to buy this.
@Anti-Matter Not that I'm aware of. Less weed friend.
Eats popcorn
Thanks for the free show, everyone in this comment section.
@Vepra The Total Package Freddy Luger.
Exit Now? Unsaved changes will be lost.
@Godlike_Virus You know, I know you probably can't grasp the concept, especially considering your bias against mindfulness, but some companies like to make a return on investment into their R&D. Individually, these items are useless. However, together they provide a brand new experience you can't get anywhere but on the Switch. Pilates rings already exist. This ring has further technologies exclusive to this game. So please stop being so blatantly ignorant before you're ultimately commenting with zero readers.
@Pazuzu666 Actually, there is a fitness mode that focuses on the movements in a more WiiFit- esque structure. 😃
@onex I honestly do not care if anyone reads, comments, likes, or even dislikes what I type up to here. I learn not to expect a response of any kind, but...seeing as how you cared enough to read and reply..guess I can consider that a bonus. Feel free to ignore/mute me, though. Enjoy your morning/day.
My Occupation: Foole : )
It's a troll, stop talking to it. Just hit ignore and move on.
I am going to buy Ring Fit day one.
This looks so fun! Some of y'all are strange - and really nasty about things you're not into.
Complain complain complain. Let's try and make our own Ring Fit Adventure and see how much it costs.
Let's assume you already have a fitness tracker to measure your steps and heart rate, since the J-C are doing that in RFA.
Pilates ring - goes anywhere from $15 to $40, but mostly around the $15 end.
Video Game - standard price for a new, full-featured console game from a major company is $50-60, but usually $60.
Workout DVD/BD of decent quality - $10-20.
So, to get what RFA offers, we've spent at least $75 and possibly up to $120.
Now, none of these components integrate, so we have to track our own workouts and calculate our results for ourselves. And we still don't get the integrated experience, and we still need to somehow find the time to do the gaming part and the workout part separately. I don't know about you guys, but I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy doing it the Nintendo way instead.
It's definitely not something that everyone will get into. And of course, we don't actually know the quality of any of these components yet. But I like the looks of it and I'm hopeful my wife will like it, too. And no, it is not outrageously priced.
One of the articles I read mentioned that a Nintendo Rep said that if you played 1 hour a day it would take 3-4 months to complete the main campaign. That's at least 90 hours worth of play time. So as long as the game play is well done, then this will be more than worth it.
Digital doesn't make much sense to me. You still need the ring and strap
@EVIL-C What comment was wrong? Seemed like he stated an opinion. Also it is a given that software comes with said piece of crap, whether it be cardboard, plastic or a stupid board you stand on. Should he said "$80 for an elastic plastic ring and accompanying software...". Comma!
@ClassSonicSatAm No one is forcing you to reply to him.
@Olmectron I LOVE coffee and I don't understand why anyone would do that.
@Bobb Seems like in Japan they've moved on to all digital. They don't want to be carrying around and swapping cartridges, so by selling the ring and strap in a box w/ a code the Japanese dont' have to swap cartridges or have a game case. Course they still have the ring and strap, so it's not all digital, but they'll sell a few of these there.
I think digital is one of those things everyone complained about in the beginning but once you go all digital it's hard to to back to swapping carts. I'm kind of in the middle of that myself - I prefer carts, and discs, b/c I get a lot of stuff out of my library, Redbox, my kids share w/ others, but it's really nice to not have to get off the couch to swap things. Or look for a game b/c my kids took all of our Switch games out of their boxes and put them in the carrying case, so I have to go through them all to find the one I want. Digital is just so super easy. Until you run out of room.
I love that this exists. I love Nintendo for their willingness to just run with weird ideas. I will not be buying this.
@rjejr
"but once you go all digital it's hard to to back to swapping carts."
Oh, i will not let my laziness took away my persistence to swap the carts everytime i play Switch. I don't want convenience like that, i want complicated way if convience is suck.
@rjejr I completely agree, and as a gamer that favors physical, I couldn't have put into better words my feelings toward the physical/digital pros and cons.
I've bought a few harder-to-find games digital, and not having to swap carts is, personally, the best selling point, but the other thing I find nice is not having to go to the shop/wait to get delivered home to start playing RIGHT NOW. So, in that sense, you will still have to wait. I guess you can't sell this game in the eshop
Awesome, I can't wait! I'm really happy they let you download this, as it looks like the kind of game I won't want to take out of the system.
Is the ring just a ring, or is there tech inside it?
There’s tech in it. In the demo video she uses the ring to measure her heart rate.
I’m glad there’s a digital option being sold. I’m usually all for physical copies of games, but I bought Fitness Boxing digitally so can play for a quick 35 minutes without having to switch cards every day.
It’s very important to keep your ring fit guys.
I often see people dismissing these devices (Wii Fit, Labo, Ring Fit), with views like 'its $80 when you can just buy a plastic ring for $15'. It's like saying that the PS AIM controller is overpriced at $100 because you can just buy a plastic gun at the dollar store for $2. They are similar looking but are very different in functionality.
Looks very interesting. I love new ideas and different crazy gadgets over the years for different consoles and this looks like one worth collecting
@mantez I think she just used the joy-con to measure it with the infrared maybe.
So far, and to its credit, the worst thing about this game so far is that terrible name. It sounds like a gay porn movie. Everything else is looking promising.
@mantez no I think the IR in the joycon measures heart rate
It's a good thing to be able to choose digital. I wish Labo had that choice. I went all digital and I love it. Never lose a cartridge, change games from the couch and be able to use the same games on multiple switches without moving the cartridges around (not at the same time though)
@brunojenso it should be called : Swifit. That's what I'm calling it.
Wow. I'm $30 interested in this... not $80.
This is about the same value as the cardboard stuff I notice doesn't seem to sell all that well at stores.
