Today may well see the launch of Mario Kart Tour, but a certain lasagne loving cat is here to come and mess up Mario's big day.
Yes, a brand new batch of screenshots have just been delivered to our digital doorstep for Garfield Kart Furious Racing, so we thought we'd share them with you lovely lot. The game is due to release on Switch on 5th November in North America (7th November in Europe), so we don't have too long to wait before getting behind the wheel.
The game is said to feature 16 "iconic" tracks inspired by the Garfield universe, such as Palerock Lake and the Pastacosi Factory. Eight characters from The Garfield Show series will also be present: Garfield, Odie, Jon, Nermal, Arlene, Liz, Harry and Squeak.
And now for some multiplayer screens:
You'll be able to compete in online races with up to eight players and split-screen races with up to four players when the game arrives this November, and Switch owners will also benefit from the option to connect up to eight different consoles for some multiplayer mayhem.
Excited for this one? Will you be giving it a go this November? Let us know with a comment.

Mario Kart is king but I’ll keep an eye on this one!
Now where could my kart be?
Still wasn't impressed from the 3DS version screenshot.. Hmmm.... 🤔
How much per month for this
16 tracks and 8 characters? Hmm. Think that’s a bit sparse but guessing it will be budget price and I love Garfield.
Had hoped Orson’s Farm characters and tracks would pad out the numbers
ummm Garfield is a has-been. They should've made the game with unique characters. Then it might've gotten more respect.
@Stocksy That would have been a good idea. Anyway, it looks like it's going to be the nth Mario Kart clone with known characters but bad reviews. It better be a really budget-priced game.
@Moroboshi876 I’m hoping for physical and about £20/£25 - not seen it listed anywhere. If digital - £15?? Maybe I’m being hopeful
I love Garfield still even thought I’m now 40! Here’s hoping it will be decent
@Stocksy Same that would’ve made the most sense.
Ah yes, the Garfield newspaper strip and cartoon. Where all Garfield did all day was eat sleep, wisecrack and take on his owner and other pets in a kart race across giant road tracks.
How much Bill Murray will there be?
I'm not expecting much outta this but i hope it's at least decent. Always loved Garfield. I don't think there's ever been a truly great videogame based on the worlds most famous fat cat.
Still more value than Mario Kart Tour's subscription. =P
Looks outstanding.
@Stocksy there are more than 8 characters in the GCM (Garfield Cinetic Unicerse)??? 🤔
😉
Is this the same mobile port as on the 3DS or will this one finally be a decent console game?
(I don't hold my breath. Garfield comic strips are world class but video games are another world..)
I've seen worse...
Coming soon: Charlie Brown Kart, Family Guy Kart, South Park Kart, Bob's Burger Kart, Scooby Doo Kart, Looney Toon Kart, Flintstones Kart, Jetson's Kart, Wacky Races Kart, Simpson's Kart, Futurama Kart,...(pretty much every cartoon ever made.......Kart.) lol.
I need some Gorefield in there.
I enjoyed the original Garfield Kart... just not at $35. That and on PC the game would get stuck every so often after a race. It was just a bit bland and dull, but it's literally a kart racer about a cat that sleeps and doesn't do much.
@Savino @Mykillvee But we already have South Park Rally. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Park_Rally
Anyways, This game is gonna be GOTY 2020! EPIC WIN LIKE Hot wheels track attack and TOTALLY better than Heathcliff the fast and the furious! And with Garfield now being owned by Viacom and Nick, Garfield is having a GREAT year!
I gotta admit, I am a sucker for some Garfield action. This doesn't look half bad either. Maybe at a solid discount I will consider.
@Savino Same. Racing against Garrison Trump would be a dream come true.
Garfield looks way too friendly in that picture.
@Stocksy Amazon have it listed for $30 so I'd expect it to be about £20/€25.
I EAT JON, THAT’S WHAT I DO, NOW GIVE ME THAT LASSSAAGNAA
im sorry jon
im just so hungry
I hate this type of sarcasm making fun of a game.."forget Mario Kart". Completely unnecessary and a disrespect to the developers that are working on it.
@Mykillvee @Savino @Daktotastomp I was thinking the same thing about Family Guy Kart.
Or they could pull an Animation Throwdown (Android and iOS game) type of deal and combine them all for some truly crazy Karting with all of the characters combined. I see lots of tracks, karts, characters, and potential for DLC.
@construx
I think.... its a new game? I wondered the same thing when the game was announced last year.
I expect greatness and nothing less.
Finally some good game on the switch
Race driving. Just the thing for fat, lazy, lasagna eating cats who hate mondays.
please let this be good
Doesn‘t look too bad actually.
Sweet, maybe Garfield can be in Smash now.
Doesn't look half bad. Might get this at some point since Nintendo seems more content on doing a new Mario Kart on mobile rather for the people who spent 400$CAD on its new console
@ReaperExTenebris I'm still rocking CTR, it's still getting at least 2 characters, a few kart sets and a new track on a monthly basis and you can easily earn enough coins by playing on a weekend, about 20 races should get you both characters and a kart set.
@Stocksy It is Garfields first racing outing and really first game in a while, Mario Kart started with a lot less and so did CTR. About the same, really. It's all down to how the mechanics work and how smooth it feels for me.
@Mykillvee @Savino South Park Rally is already a thing. Used to be one of my favourites, but the DC version is the best.
Of all the franchises that I expected to have a kart racing game, Garfield was not one of them
@Mykillvee
You're forgetting He-Man Kart: Race For Eternia. Also a Simpsons kart racing game would be crazy not to be titled Bart Kart. 😁
No Sheldon the Egg, big mistake. Including the characters from Garfield and friends seems like an obvious decision. Yet they didnt do it
Is there a mechanic where if you're playing the game on Monday, Garfield can only get trash items?
@The_Mysteron nah, that's where (pretty much every cartoon ever made.....Kart) comes in. Lol.
The only thing I can imagine this having over most of the Mario Kart games is the lack of Mario's terribly annoying voice, and I think I'm in the minority for some reason.
This may sound like a joke, but I really have my pre-order ready!
