The talented independent studio WayForward has officially revealed Vitamin Connection, a new two-player action title exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. It promises to deliver thrills, laughs and varied gameplay "unlike anything else" on the system and is receiving a Limited Run physical release. Right now, though, there's no release date or price.
In Vitamin Connection, the player takes on the role of Vita-Boy and Mina-Girl as they guide a minuscule Capsule Ship into battle against evil bacteria living within organisms. Here's a bit about the gameplay, directly from the press release:
By blasting subatomic foes with your Vitamin Beam, utilizing a special claw tool, and navigating maze-like stages, you'll save the members of the Sable family - including the dog! - from a variety of hazardous and increasingly wacky predicaments. Each level also includes sub-games featuring rhythm challenges, Pong-like reflex tests, and more.
If you've got a friend or family member on-hand, the two-player co-op mode allows one player to control the Capsule Ship's movement and shooting while the other handles its rotation and aiming. Coordination and connection between players is the key to victory!
Interestingly, Vitamin Connection will be made available as a Limited Run Games physical title first. Once this has been published, the digital release from WayForward will follow. More information about the pre-order window, pricing, and release date will be shared at a later date on the WayForward and Limited Run websites.
And here are the key features:
- Blast bacteria with your Vitamin Beam across six colorful stages!
- Overcome sub-games featuring precision twisting, rhythmic action, and more!
- Vibrant visuals with a retro-futuristic aesthetic!
- Uniquely innovative Joy-Con controls and HD Rumble!
- Play solo or coordinate with a friend in two-player mode!
- Exclusively on Nintendo Switch!

Interesting concept. I’ll wait for gameplay footage, and see how it goes.
I don't know if I do like the sound of this. But it's WayForward and they've earned the benefit of the doubt.
With that pic, it definitely has that WayForward vibe. Like @SpicyBurrito16, I’ll wait for some gameplay videos to see if I can get into this.
Not even a screenshot? Well.. I'm interested, but I do need to see something of the game before deciding.
Only six stages? Half-Genie hero was my first Shantae game (also made by WayForward, of course), but with its comparable number of stages that you have to backtrack to again and again, I can't say I was blown away. That being said, I still want to play other games in the franchise and am excited for Shantae 5, but with only six levels I think I'll have to pass on Vitamin Connection. Unless "stages" is the word they're using for "worlds," in which case the game could be decently lengthy. I'll reserve my final judgment for later.
Sweet! But I'm assuming it will be like every Wayforward game - fun, charming... but it will only last a weekend at the maximum.
Not that it's a bad thing, I'd rather see a smaller studio make a small but polished game instead of something boring/padded out.
I was not expecting the characters to look like from a preschool cartoon. WayForward has a tendency to make their main characters sexy rather than cutesy like this. Not that this is a bad thing, just a little unexpected.
I don't really understand why they would release an announcement like this with absolutely no screenshots. "We're working on a game" is not very compelling news from a games company, on its own.
It's WayForward so I'm sure it'll be really fun and well polished. Look forward to seeing a trailer and screenshots, it sounds pretty interesting.

Purely speculation, but WayForward do a lot of licensed game work.
Maybe what happened is they were working on a licensed game project with a similar aesthetic, but the licensing fell through.
So instead of abandon the project, they reworked it into an original game.
Sounds good to me
I'll probably play it. Every game they've made that I can think of runs at 60fps and is fun, or at least challenging and interesting. I don't know why, but I like the title Vitamin Connection.
Found some insight into why this game is getting a Limited Run Games physical release prior to a digital launch.
It's because the game's development is actually funded by LRG.

It's also coming exclusively to Switch because the game actually makes use of exclusive Joy-Con features.
@Toshiro_Baloney
I dunno, they also made Catgirl with Salad and that game was complete dog doo doo. I got it for free and was still disappointed with it.
This could be interesting though!
How is Wayforward able to this many projects at once
@shonenjump86 WayForward has been pushing a lot of very good and interesting games recently, haven't they?
@Reigestugatensho yup, I’m looking forward to the new Shantae game.
