We've had a treasure trove of Shovel Knight news thrown at us over the last few hours, but there's still a little more to dig through. Yacht Club Games has confirmed that the upcoming amiibo three-pack will launch this December, and has also shared some juicy details about what the figures can do in-game.
As you're probably already aware, the three-pack contains figures of Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight, joining the already-released Shovel Knight figure. Every game in the Shovel Knight saga will feature amiibo support, so you can use your new toys with any games you own or buy going forward.
Scanning each amiibo can unlock new cosmetic items (which can be mixed-and-matched with the usual in-game armours) and can also unlock a fairy friend. You can learn more about that in the tweets below.
On top of all this, the new set of amiibo can unlock new platforming challenges in each game's challenge mode.
The studio has promised "more amiibo surprises" in the future, so watch this space for more exciting reveals going forward.
Just hours ago, we were treated to a final release trailer for Shovel Knight: King of Cards and the announcement of a brand new Shovel Knight game - Shovel Knight Dig. Not a bad day!

finally a date for the amiibos i feel like i had them on pre order forever
Cool, I've had these together with the Switch treasure trove physical release on pre-order from Amazon UK for a long time now.
Things are looking up for Shovel Knight, can't wait to do it all over again on the Switch. December is a good time for it too!
Now the usual question: will they keep being available like Zelda's Champions or will it be a matter of getting them day one or else?
Yesterday I finally got my Piranha Plant. Yesterday. Months after its release. I don't have hope of ever finding Boo amiibo, for instance.
I still think Nintendo dropped the ball with amiibos. When the Wii U was fading they were everywhere, I could even buy some half price. Sure, there were some others impossible to find. Then they release a new console and suddenly the amiibo support isn't that meaningful, and that's if there is any at all. So they stopped manufacturing them in those quantities, and more importantly a lot of stores stopped having them on the shelves. Even new ones are hard to find in supermarkets, where there's a lot of merchandising, but no amiibos anymore. A shame.
I've had these pre-ordered forever.
@Moroboshi876 I'm both surprised and not surprised that Nintendo didn't rerelease the boo amiibo back when Luigi's Mansion 1 came to the 3DS. They dropped the ball in the exact same way when the 2 Bayonetta games came to the Switch with added support for the Bayonetta amiibo. What's the point of having a game support an amiibo that's next to impossible to find at an acceptable price?
Didn't they advertise these amiibo ages ago? Can't believe they've waited this long to release them.
Oh well. I just placed a pre-order on them so my Shovel Knight amiibo can stop feeling lonely.
@Timmytron Exactly. They rereleased some of the hard to find Smash Bros amiibos, thanks to which I could grab my Sonic and my Mega Man, but I hate this Nintendo policy of making things scarce for prestige reasons, as well as not putting their physical games on sale in order to keep their value. They deny it, but they've been doing it since the release of the original NES back in the 80s.
Amiibo lives
@Moroboshi876 True, but Nintendo Selects / Players choice versions of all their major titles have been re-released since the Gamecube era. But i get what you're saying.
@Moroboshi876
Some Amiibos going half price or less is the very reason they don't get the same support : it was a trend and when it burst and demand faded out, they gave up on it.
Also I wonder if Nintendo's delivery and manufacturing capacities have not been "switched" (but this is pure speculation).
@KevTastic84 You're right. I was meaning normal cover, of course.
Anyway, let's hope these amiibos are easy to find and for a long time. I hope they do a 4 pack with the Dragon Quest Hero from Smash Bros. at some point.
@Tibob Well, I found SOME of them half price. Very few, actually, and very random. And it was some retailers' policy. You could still find them on normal stores full price. I don't think that's the reason. It's just some stores put on sale maybe the amiibos that sold more poorly.
@Moroboshi876 Of course they'd deny that. Nintendo couldn't tell it's customers the truth even if their own lives depended on it.
I've had these amiibo since they were first announced.
So we finally know when they're coming out. Can't wait to see how they look face to face.
Also love that the fairy's name is "Meeber". Just perfect.
Oh, I remember when these were announced. It was September of 2017 and I was so young...
Finally! I've had this on preorder for a VERY long time.
All I wanted was Meta Knight guest boss fight like the other versions got...
I would gladly pay for these features as DLC, but I'm not interested in amiibo. Especially since the availability of these amiibos might be an issue later.
Good thing I never cancelled my preorder
I immediately thought of that Game Grumps commercial for these that was officially sanctioned by Nintendo, uploaded on their channel, and still is one of the greatest things ever.

A dang freakin’ lot has happened since they were announced. I’m pumped to finally have them in my hands.
I wonder why all the comments are:
"Nintendo did badly when they did (insert negative) Amiibo".
and not:
these outfits look awesome and I'd totally get all three of 'em!
I'll be ripping that package open and slamming them on my shelf!
