The Pokémon Company has announced it will end the Pokémon Duel mobile service on 31st October 2019.
When these services are taken offline, certain parts of the game will no longer be playable. Players will also be unable to purchase any new Diamonds from today onwards but are still able to request a refund. The ability to purchase the Player Pass will also be removed.
Here's a message from The Pokémon Company about the closure of the service:
Pokémon Duel game service will be terminated as of 10/31/2019 at 01:59 (UTC).
For details on the end of service, please see the in-game Information.
Thank you for your support. We realize that it's not long until the end of service, but we hope you'll continue to enjoy Pokémon Duel to the very end.
Pokémon Duel rolled out here in the west on Android and iOS in 2017. We gave it six out of ten stars and found it to be oddly compelling despite some questionable design choices.
Did you ever get around to playing this mobile game? Are you sad to hear the service is closing? Leave a comment down below.

Must have been a flop if it's being shut down after only 2 years.
@Heavyarms55 Poor Miitomo
Another strong reason to not consider mobile games.
I really liked Duel. Sad to see it go. I did pretty well with the random figures I got. I found that some of the more common figures are way better than the rare stuff and I never really had the need to get the best stuff available. I was always really happy to see my opponent use a Lati@s. They were so easy to KO and it has a skill that makes it unavailable for the rest of the battle so the game becomes a 6 vs. 5. The game was certainly more about strategy.
My favorite memory is when I was against an opponent with really good Pokémon, ones that I could not kill reliably. I had to play defensively and was able to keep the other player from taking over my goal. Then I finally found an opening and tried a counterattack. The game was almost over due to the time limit and my opponent decided to defend for the rest of the match. It was a long match and it seemed like it would be impossible for me to win but just as the clock hits 1 second, I move my Pokémon to the opponent's goal and I win. It felt good.
I actually didn’t even know this game existed!
I enjoyed Pokemon Duel for a long time, sad to see it go. Have to play a few games before it disappears
Didn't even know it existed
Loved this game. Ok, I’m probably biased because I’m a Pokémon fan, but I still like it!
"Pokemon is going full mobile. Gamefreak should be scared of going irrelevant."
Lol
Highly demotivated. Was looking forward to more of it.
I have been into this game for over a year but started loving it in the last 6 months.
Wish it'd be back before we know it.
When you have everyone playing Pokemon GO and Pokemon Masters, I guess there's not really much of a reason to keep Duel alive.
@Late my fav memories was being a jerk with shuppet or just finding out how broken confusion could be. Some Pokémon got a straight buff when confused
@Anti-Matter Should people not consider Nintendo console games either since Wii and DS had their online shut down?
There are plenty of reasons to dislike mobile games but this in particular is not something exclusive to them.
This was an ok game. Felt kinda like tic tac toe, when you had the upper hand you had it. I stopped trusting Star Wars mobile games because of how often they get killed off. The same thing happened to Mabinogi Duels and that was awesome.
@Kalmaro Shuppet was one of my favorites too. It's easy to obtain and super useful. Lead to many victories.
These sudden shutdowns are why I'm hesitant to spend money in Nintendo's freemium ventures. I was one of the few people who actually enjoyed Miitomo, but that one barely lasted two years.
Wow, I really enjoyed it until I....got bored of it, I guess? IDK, I really enjoyed the game with the time I did give it however. It seriously deserves an offline version made for the Switch, at least.
Played it a few times, and I wasn’t really digging it. While I wouldn’t call it straight up garbage, I just really board with it. And that pay-to-win stuff wasn’t really cool.
@Late All fun and games until shuppet slips past your super ultra rare Pokémon and stills a win :3
All Pokemon mobile games outside of Go (and Masters if it is big) have a strong chance of being shut down within 3-5 years after launch, so buyers beware.
@Heavyarms55 It was a terrible run of the mill mobile P2W trash game. I am surprised it lasted this long.
I tried it for around 30mins and it was very clear to me that it was P2W so i uninstalled it i hate P2W games they ruin what could have been a fantastic game
I enjoyed it for a couple of weeks, then stopped playing, deleted it as it was a massive file size and forgot it existed until this article. I feel slightly nostalgic for it, but not enough to play it again.
Attention PoDu lovers, sign this petition and lets keep Pokemon Duel ALIVE!

I really hate how Nintendo keeps making games like this were they can eventually just nuke out of playable existence just because they no longer care to support it, like we are loosing games just simply because they don't wanna give us an offline version of this games which is kinda really unfair for the fans/players... eventually the same will happen to all their current mobile games once they grown old and out of hype.
Hey, at least we get Luigi's Mansion 3 the same day!
offline version of Super Mario Run is what I am voting for...
@Chibi_Manny It’s not a Nintendo game
