Earlier this month, Nintendo of America's president Doug Bowser announced Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players located in the United States, Canada and Mexico would be able to keep on smashing following the World Championship, in the Smash Bros. Ultimate Online Open.
Registration is closing soon, so if you would like to participate in the Online Open, you better act fast and register now. The tournament starts on June 29 or June 30, based on your home region. The four winners will receive flights, accommodation and registration to play in the Ultimate Singles pool at the 2019 Evolution Championship Series.
Nintendo has also shared a Battle Guide to prepare players for the tournament, along with the rules of the Online Open.
If you live in North America, tell us below if you'll be taking part in the battle.

I like their rule set. I know it’s not the “competitive” standard. But I like the occassional item from time to time. I wonder if any big names will compete for the glory.
Just registered, and now my Switch is showing error codes whenever I try to load anything. So, guess I'm out after all.
@Ryan_Again
Item selection looks fair except for the final smash that puts too much favor on certain characters like Peach/Daisy where it’s a guaranteed KO in most circumstances outside of low percentage on the opponent but Nintendo pushes for it anyway for eye candy and somehow thinking that it’s the exact equivalent of super specials in fighting games, imagine if they turned on the fs meter haha.
@SalvorHardin I totally agree with you. I even thought about making a second post about that! 😝 Smash balls kind of suck. They really hurt the flow of the game. Even for “casual” matches.
Nintendo and “blue shells” huh?
