Famitsu's Japanese chart figures are now in for 13th May - 19th May, revealing that eight out of this week's top ten games are on Nintendo Switch.
It's a familiar story as a new PS4 game enters the chart at number one this week, followed by a Switch-heavy list full of Nintendo-published titles. The game to secure number one this time around is Ys: Memories of Celceta - Kai, which managed an estimated 13,895 sales this week.
Here are the top 10 (first numbers are this week's sales, followed by total sales):
1) [PS4] Ys: Memories of Celceta - Kai (Nihon Falcom) {2019.05.16} - 13.895 / NEW
2) [NSW] Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (Nintendo) {2018.12.07) - 8.507 / 3.085.499
3) [NSW] Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (Nintendo) {2017.04.28} - 7.258 / 2.302.993
4) [NSW] Minecraft (Microsoft Game Studios) {2018.06.21} - 6.954 / 783.332
5) [PS4] Days Gone (Sony Interactive Entertainment) {2019.04.26} - 6.276 / 166.459

8) [NSW] Splatoon 2 (Nintendo) {2017.07.21} - 4.524 / 3.067.711
9) [NSW] The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo) {2017.03.03} - 4.518 / 1.319.464
10) [NSW] Yoshi's Crafted World (Nintendo) {2019.03.29} - 4.068 / 134.812
On the hardware side of things, Switch remains at the top of the pile, albeit with a slightly lower sales tally than usual. Here are this week's figures, followed by last week's in brackets:
1) Switch – 32,564 (41,736)
2) PlayStation 4 – 5,572 (8,823)

Nintendo's failing. A successful company would have taken 11 of the top 10 spots.
Nintendo doing what Nintendoes.
@JHDK we knew it was all down hill once Reggie left...
New 3DS LL is still available in Japan ?
Such is the Power of Nintendo!
I kind of feel a little sorry for Xbox. The original was the first home console bought just for me (the NES was shared and the N64 was my sister’s).
That said, it’s good to see Nintendo getting most of the top spots. It’s a great time to be a Nintendo fan.
Those are very low software sales all round, from one to ten. A lull after Golden Week I suppose?
The Switch is doing really well worldwide. No doubt benefitted by the fact that it's against end of life cycle PS4/XB1 but good dales nonetheless. 2019 is its year and 2020 should be good also.
Kinda funny that there's always more Switch games on the top 10 but none were never at number one.
Ah, Ys: Memories of Celceta was such a good game. VIII is better, but the Switch needs more Ys! Origins on the Switch would be a match made in Nintenheaven. Then again, I'd like to see nearly the entire Falcom catalog ported over, so I might be a little biased.
Nintendoomed?
Switch is a big hit in Japan. No doubt about that. Its the rest of the world, UK and parts of Europe where Nintendo underperforms
@DockEllisD Agreed. Nihon Falcom needs to stop leaving money on the table and bring their games to the switch
@dimi
Nintendo has been doing exceptionally well in Europe this generation, even in the UK.
Yoshi still hanging in there. Hope it continues to sell. NSMB Deluxe might well break a million, but that might change after Super Mario Maker 2 arrives.
Open, check that Zelda BotW is still top ten, nod briefly, leave.
@DockEllisD
id always love to see more falcom on switch though i imagine it depends on how well Ys VIII ended up doing.
@BANJO Agreed. The Switch definitely has a head start before Generation 9 kicks into full gear. That being said, in terms of the Gen 9 squad, the Switch has essentially been considered Gen 8 due to the lack of competition on part of Xbox and PlayStation as of late, though Sony's doing the PS5 fairly soon so that may change.
Why this YS game isn’t on the switch?
Unless Sony is involved with it somehow, it make no sense for it to not come to the Switch
@retro_player_22 Well Nintendo does take the spot sometimes its just that the games overshadowing the Nintendo ones are NEW. This is still very impressive.
Adol over Smash, Mario Kart and Minecraft (for at least 1 week) nice! Until Adol inevitably crashes his boat. Again. Also bring more Ys to Switch, or at least Celceta to PS4 in the west. I don't have a Vita and my PC is junk.
@DFaceG_Rebooted They are in a strange situation. This is Nintendo however so we shouldn't expect anything less.....
They are after a few bad years of the Wii U era making loses once again now making a decent profit. The only problem/advantage depending on how you see it is it now the revenue they make just depends now on one system, the Switch's sucess or failure.
(Mobile plays a small part admittedly)
The next few years will be interesting.....
@JHDK remember the Wii u and people thought Nintendo was bankrupt? Remember when Japanese companies felt games were a failure for not selling 5 million copies in the first month?
@dimi
Its the rest of the world, UK and parts of Europe where Nintendo underperforms
Switch is keeping pace globally with PS4 launch aligned, which itself broke all kinds of records and will surpass Wii as fastest selling console of all time. So I think it’s doing pretty well outside of Japan also. In the US it’s the best selling console this month both and dollar sales and units as well as the best selling console year to date.
I do agree with your statement though in terms of Europe and the rest of the world. It seems thats where they struggle the most, especially in the UK. But NA seems to be a very strong market for Switch, and is largely responsible for the global success it’s had.
And what westman98 said is kinda true- they’ve being doing good in EU... but relatively speaking. Compared to how they usually do they’ve definitely done well, but it’s still a weak market for them.
@Vicki_S This is just Japan, they have never favored the Xbox due to culture differences.
@Seacliff I know, but it’s pretty sad to be so far behind. They’re not exactly doing all that well worldwide either at the moment.
Good God. There is actually nothing "selling well"... if you can manage enough excitement to break 10K you at #1
It's no surprise that a new game would be in the top slot as opposed to titles that have been out for weeks or months.
What is more interesting is that 7 of those are Switch exclusives!
Well and that the #1 game was originally a PSVita exclusive.
It's an excellent game, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a Switch port eventually.
@dimi on any given day 14-20 of to 50 Amazon are Nintendo, usually with 4-6 in the to ten, it does ok
Sometimes I am playing my Switch and stop to think 'I wonder how much money Nintendo has made this month'. It's important to my game enjoyment. /s
It's kinda sad that the crappy New Super Mario Bros keeps selling just because it's a Mario game.
There are so many great titles that could (and should) take its place on this list....
