Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Champions has now received a solid release date for Nintendo Switch. Get ready to bring the fires of war to a hybrid console near you on 16th April.
The game is described as "a modern take on collectable card games", featuring cross-play between digital and physical versions and allowing players to scan physical cards into their collection to claim and take them onto the battlefield. We first heard about this one coming to Switch in January, when we were also treated to a cinematic trailer.
Now, though, we have that all-important release date, and PlayFusion CEO Mark Gehard has shared the following in a press release:
“The response for the physical and digital game has already been incredible, and we just can't wait to watch that grow to new heights. With the upcoming release of our Set 3 cards in Savagery, and a whole heap of new features like Arena of Echoes and Realm Trials, there's always going to be something new to try. And now, there will be a much bigger community to try with"
Launching alongside the new Switch version is a brand new single-player adventure called Realm Trials, which is said to feature "dozens of hours of content" where players will fight legendary battles to conquer the Mortal Realms. The new mode, 'Arena of Echoes', will also give players "a whole new way to battle".

The rest of the year must be so big for Nintendo to make Third Parties pack April like they have.
I first read the sub header as new model instead of new mode. Now I'm kindadisappointed that it doesn't come packed with a miniature.
side note, where is Elder Scroll Legends? Bethesda announced that at E3 nearly a year ago now.
Between these, DBZ, TLOTR, and Yugioh, its nice to see some card games finally hitting
Kill-slay! Kill-slay!
I miss Queek Headtaker too much to try AoS stuff myself but the more TCGs the better.
what the heck is going on with April??! Is it the new hidden holiday month or what? I don't have that much money for all the releases in April alone! O_O not that I complain XD
That's a first card game to Switch look interesting to play for those whom started out with D&D cards.
@Mando44646 I have been searching the web every couple of months and I can not find any mention of it at all. My guess is they announced it waaaaay too early and have been trying to quietly catch up. But yeah, where the hell is it?
Is there any pricing info? Like is this a full game I buy and download, or is it free to play and requires internet all of the time like Lightseekers?
I really want something I can play offline too (pumped for Yu Gi Oh! either way)
Ok ima have to sell a kidney for all of these games.
I feel like Warhammer has been everything. I liked it best as an RTS.
@MisterDevil "Hidden" holiday? It's the month of Easter.
@JayJ There's one thing the original miniatures game has never been: good.
@SmaggTheSmug well one does not go out and buy a bunch of things on Eastern, at least not here in Europe unlike Christmas or New Year
