When the European box art for the Switch version of Final Fantasy X | X-2 HD Remaster was originally revealed, it didn't exactly go down well with fans of the series or physical game collectors. This was all because the front cover had a gigantic warning message at the top of it, driving home the point you would have to download the second game and ruining the lovely artwork.
Now that the game is available, My Nintendo Europe is offering a print-it-yourself alternative reversible cover (featuring artwork on both sides) for a total of 50 platinum points. If you don't have enough points, you'll need earn them by completing some missions on the website or maybe even playing one of Nintendo's mobile games.
Of course, you'll also need to have access to a European Nintendo account to be able to download these new designs along with access to a colour printer. After you've redeemed this item, you can then download a high-quality version of the cover in PDF format and print it out.
Will you be redeeming this reward? Would you like to see more offers like this on My Nintendo? Tell us in the comments.

@Aldora That is a legit good question. I have to imagine we'd need to cut it to size. Also, we probably need a pretty high quality printer to print it so it looks good.
@Aldora Do most printers have the ability to print photos? I haven't own my own printer in years. On the rare occasion I do need to print something I just do it at work on their simple black and white printer that we use for cheap handouts and text documents. And in college I use used school machines.
@Aldora I'd measure the dimensions of my switch cover, save the image onto a stick, and then go to my local print shop and have them print it on glossy paper. It'll cost you 50-60 cents, but it's worth it.
Why SE didn't use this cover in the first place, nobody knows.
(Most German covers are reversible because of their mandatory huge, ugly USK age classification.)
I'm lucky to have a printing company across the road from my work, they use what they call 'Digital Paper' that almost exactly like DVD covers. £1.50 per sheet. I could fit both of those covers to a sheet if needed.
Huh, there was supposed to be a reversible cover... Did that not happen then?

I have the Asia English version with Beautiful Official cover, so i don't need to print the Reversible covers above.
Why not a notice on a seperate bit of paper between the plastic box front and the artwork, that can be removed after purchase. 🤔
or you could wait a few days and find it on a google image search
of course as gougious as these covers are IF i was going to doa custom FFX cover then it would be this
nothing beats a classic
@FullbringIchigo That is why I love the vita version of the cover then the current one for this gen. Like you said. Can't beat the classic look.
No idea why it isnt just a reversible cover in the first place.
The big companies really do seem to overlook their fan base and it puzzles me.
Lets face it, the audience for a release like this is a bit niche in the first place, then if are specifically getting a boxed version over a digital version of the game you are likely doing so as a collector. So why dont the recognise this and ensure the release is fit for a collectors shelf to begin with.
Surely it cant have come as a surprise to squenix that people done like box art with huge warnings plastered all over them.
@Morph It's not packed in so they can give stuff to their fan clubs and use those things as exclusive content for their useless services. Basically to justify the existence of some programs.
I bet someone on esty or ebaybwill start selling covers for the switch like this.
Similar to the small cartridge boxes for each game with its own printout.
If only I knew how to do this, I'd sell if for like a dollar or something.

@apoqalypse of course thats possible, but I do think these covers exist more because of the backlash to the existing cover.
The fact they have changed the warning to be smaller in upcoming games kind of backs up this point.
"This was all because the front cover had a gigantic warning message at the top of it, driving home the point you would have to download the second game and ruining the lovely artwork."
I think people were more upset about X-2 not being on the cart than the banner ruining the artwork, but whatever...
Charging coins for this is a liberty!
@Ttimer5
Already a thing, on Etsy for $6 (that’s if you provide your own case which can be purchased in packets of five from Nintendo, or you can pay a couple bucks more and they’ll provide the case as well)

@SilentHunter382
The Japanese version with both games on a 32gb cart has the same white background with classic logo, while the Asian version with both games on a 32gb cart has the NA artwork.
So really you get a choice of which ever you like most. I opted for the Asian, but I’m a fan of the JP cover style too.
The japanese version has a reversible cover, although the inside art is b/w. I wouldn't want to change it tho, nothing beats the original (jp) covers.
Haha why spending platinum coins since the European version includes already a reversible cover 😂
@Gabby-D-Rux
Didn't it have a white spine though?
@Manah
yes it's white not red and no switch symbol and logo lettering but I do not mind at all. If I knew how to post a picture I would gladly show it to you.
@Gabby-D-Rux
I guess this was made for people who care about that, and if you already have a European account there's nothing to spend those coins on anyway
I don't think I'd go through the trouble of printing it out when I don't look at the case all that much though. Still got it because, you know, too many useless coins.
@Manah
Next time BigN can offer a printable nintendo logo lettering and the switch symbol so people can print them as sticker to complete the reversible cover for 50 platinum coins each
Gamer these days are so picky and its not even funny.
@LaytonPuzzle27 I can’t imagine a world in which I care this much about the insert in a video game box
I bought it in UK on day 1, I got a reversible cover. Only issue is the spine of the reverse is white, not red
I loathe the modern Final Fantasy covers as much as I love the old ones which had a plain white cover. If SE wanted to give us alternatives, they should give us those.
@AndyRogan mine too UK version.
@Miyamotosan
I mean, they kinda did, by releasing the both games on a single cart with the classic logo on white background in Japan, which can easily be imported. Nintendo gamers aren’t used to having those options because they’ve been denied region free access for so long. Now that it’s here though, unfortunately I think most people don’t even take advantage, despite all the outcry during the Wii U era (complaining about something people don’t even end up using, go figure).
@FullbringIchigo Exactly! That's why I ordered the Hong Kong Version! Now idea why they skipped the classic cover for this one...
@Aldora i would recommend glossy photopaper around 120-160g/m2 thinckness.
@Morph nah, it's not exclusive to this game. They did it with Octopath traveller too. They are trying to give "value". More like just a perception of value. Square couldn't realyl honestly care less about user feedback on the covers of an 18 year old game.
@apoqalypse I didn't say it was exclusive
@Morph What I meant was that they don't do it only to games that the community dislikes the cover.
@Aldora I use HP glossy brochure paper, 40Lb, this one is a 150 g/m2. But I have access to a laser printer at work. Sadly I am US so I can't get this alternate cover art with my rewards
