GungHo's upcoming Switch release Ninjala has just received a new teaser trailer that explains a bit about the in-game lore while giving us a closer look at the playable characters.
Basically, according to the above clip, ninja masters used to rule the lands until one day they disappeared altogether. After this, the video cuts to the modern day, showing us a fierce bubblegum battle between two ninjas and eventually an entire street battle.
As we previously noted, there's a real Splatoon 2 vibe about this particular game. Whether it will be able to compete with Nintendo's squid kids is something we won't find out until it is released next year.

looking forward to trying this out on switch. I'm i the only one not getting vibes of this being like Splatoon? the gameplay looks nothing like it. but, maybe the charters?
This game looks pretty cool. Hope it gets a retail release.
Looks really neat. Not my kind of game, but still cool. I hope it carves out a niche for itself and rises out of the shadow of Splatoon.
Hey look! The gems of E3 is back!
What? What? ... what?
Ninja Bubblegum Batman!
Wow !
I felt Ninjala = Kingdom Hearts Keyblade fighting + Splatoon style Bubble gum with "Ninjara" name.
Looked good to me.
I still really need to see some gameplay of this, because I'm not 100% sure what to make of it yet. These trailers so far makes me think it's more similar to 3D arena fighters like Bandai's DBZ games.
I'm interested.
Love the art style!
@Aozz101x Yes, the characters are what are supposed to be similar to Inklings (gameplay looks nothing like Splatoon, only the color choices).
These ninjas are here to kick ass and chew bubblegum. And they still have bubblegum.
looks cool but . . . i don't get it
At first glance I get ARMS/Splatoon vibes, but upon closer inspection not really. I bet it’ll still be fun though.
@MH4 Art style wise, that's a reasonable comparison. The Ninja's clothing style reminds of Splatoon's, and the art style and UI makes me think of ARMS.
That's not a bad thing, especially since the gameplay looks fairly distinct. Lock-on fighting with wall running, risk and reward with the bubblegum, and probably some more nuances. May not hit it big, but I think it'll find a loyal niche.
Had the opportunity to play this at E3 this year and it was definitely a blast. In essence, you blow up bubble gum that you can either transform into a bat or you can shoot the gum at another player and try to get them stuck, so you can whack them. It’s a beat em up, but it’s score based, so you can pick up tokens on the ground or destroy drones for bonus points. You can charge your weapon to instantly KO someone, but it leaves you wide open, and there are special attacks as well that you can utilize. At the end of the game, the points are tallied up and bonuses are awarded for being the player that dealt the most 1-Hit KOs and for destroying the most drones. It’s pretty unique, honestly.
How is this trailer different from the one from E3?
I remember coming back to this one at the show floor. It's certainly no Splatoon, but it's quite fun for what it is.
Honestly, I'd like to see more developers step up and do something fresh, instead of just making battle-royale clones.
That's cool! Looks like a good game
I’v been hyped for this since we first heard about it at E3. I cannot wait for this game. 2019 is looking pretty big for Switch.
I still don't fully understand what this game is? Is it competitive PvP? Is it co-op? Is it both? It looks cool visually but I need to know a little more.
It'd New Donk city without Mario.
Just noticed that the characters do the Naruto run. Why does this exist?
Splatoon meets Smash meets Power Stone. Sign me up!
But this article looks exactly the same as the last one and the video is the exact same one too. What's "new" about this? And yes, I do mean this exact video and game was shown off in one of this years Nintendo Directs. I dont recall which one though. January? Iunno.
