Devolver Digital has revealed that La Cartel Studio's scrolling fighter Mother Russia Bleeds is coming to the Switch eShop on the 15th November.
Described by its developer as "an unrelenting, ultra-violent Beat ‘Em Up, brimming with hard-hitting action and game-altering psychedelic twists", Mother Russia Bleeds boasts 4 players support and eye-catching visuals and sound. It's also rather violent, with skulls popping all over the place.
It's already available on Steam, where it has picked up an average user score of 9/10. You can watch a gameplay trailer here, but be warned - it's incredibly gory and perhaps not safe to watch if you're at work or in a public place.

This looks bloody wonderful.
Good to see games like this on a Nintendo platform.
Wow, pixelated blood everywhere in that trailer, I can see why you didn't show that.
Don't tell Anti-Matter he will go mental
Ohh this looks nice, might be the first beat em up ill get on the switch.
Haha, makes Night Slashers look tame!
Cool. Been tempted by this on other platforms so glad i haven't dipped yet.
Brilliant game! Will definitely double dip on this. Its only a matter of time before Devolver release Hotline Miami on Switch now.
great, been waiting for this! played to the last boss on pc.
will do it again!
OMG it's BEAUTIFUL!
Funny, I was wondering if this would ever make it to the Switch when I saw the trailer for this at the time it was about to release a few years back. Happy to hear it's coming.
What I really wish as a beat 'em up game that would come to Switch would be Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. But, with no more license for it and the game being almost 9 years old now, no chance it will come.
Now that's some Next Level beat him up that I'm looking for.
Dem some violent pixels . . . form the picture above, I thought they were going for a Mad World aesthetic . . . .
Looks like it was inspired by the USSR in the 80s... Awesome! And the art is top-notch. How the hell have I not heard of this before?!
That’s some Raze level violence. Looks pretty good. I’m not down with the heroic gun violence, though the stabbing, slashing, and blunt force trauma are all fine. Guns are for villains. Scared ones.
I am so in. So very in.
Nintendo fans ready for a bit of the old ultraviolence it seems!
I watched this at work, a perk of working from home!
I can't imagine this being on a Nintendo system 5 years ago
Choo choo I’m about to board the hype train.
This game is really good. The gameplay is deep, the difficulty is perfect, the health mechanic keeps you on your toes, and there’s no cheap deaths....merely skills to practice. Furthermore, the soundtrack can hang with the best of French touch.
Classic beat’em ups don’t hold up, as we all know. By default, the quarter munching nature made a genre of games that are horrible in retrospect. No matter what, you were going to die. So, to beat the game, you’d just spam continues, essentially making it an expensive cakewalk.
Mother Russia Bleeds is not one of those games, however.
One life, and you restart at a checkpoint. So no lounging through infinite continues. Furthermore, the game is actually fair, so you don’t need those infinite continues, anyway. :0
I could of wrote this off as a shock value game, and the over the top stuff is definitely funny for many a meta ways to someone in my generation. However, to my pleasant surprise, the drugs, the blood and the gore all serve a gameplay function.
I’ve been playing this, dailey, since the 15th. While I bought the switch for shmup/bullet hell tate mode heaven, out of fifty or so games, I’ve definitely found myself most captivated by the following: Zelda BOTW, The Messenger, Celeste, Skyforce Reloaded (and now Anniversary), Dead Cells, Doom 2016 and.....believe it or not....Mother Russia Bleeds.
Also ran, when I Googled Mother Russia Bleeds to see if there was a follow up planned, I came across a review from a couple of years ago that proposed that the game is...erm...transphobic. Maybe the Nintendo version is different, but after playing through, multiple times, I just don’t see any evidence of that, whatsoever. I could see it being fair if someone into BDSM took issue with key things from the sex club level. Also, I would imagine a mixed reaction from people suffering with drug addiction.
Now, obviously, this game is intended for adults only, but if the kids out there want something genuinely offensive, Mario Odyssey is rated E for everyone. Every moment with Peach is mega cringe. And if the played out damsel in distress trope is not enough for you, fear not: the plot is about forced (enslavement) marriage (definitely going to presume intention of rape). And after our man, Mario, saves our useless woman object, Peach, from impending rape...he and Bowser yuck it up together trying to compete for her attention...like...mere seconds afterward. I, personally, was super creeped out. No joke.
Anyway, Mother Russia Bleeds: If you liked beat em’ ups but wish one was actually a real genuine game, it’s finally here.
