Indie developer Flightless is bringing its real-time strategy space game Element to Nintendo Switch later this week, and we have a new trailer to celebrate.
The game is actually described as "a real-time strategy space game for people who don't have time to play real-time strategy space games," focusing on sharp, accessible gameplay that doesn't require hours and hours of your time to get the full experience. It features a single player adventure, multiple planet levels with intelligent AI, and a world where home no longer provides a means to survive.
A fight for resources to escape our system has begun and you are right in the centre of the action. You must visit each planet, mine enough element, and defeat the enemy to progress to the outer planets and beyond. You'll need to generate energy, build attack and defence units, and then destroy the enemy while maintaining a balance between earth, air, and water.
The game will be available directly from the Nintendo Switch eShop from this Thursday (27th July) for $11.99.
Do you like the look of this one? Make sure to tell us below if you'll be considering picking this one up later this week.

I’ll have to look into this some more, the vid looks intriguing! Will there be a review for it?
Looks to simplistic for my taste, I want RTS for people who have time to play, like Total War series. Of course it's not so good on Switch as it would be on Wii U which always offers touch controls, but a portable mode is what nicely fits for a strategic gameplay IMO. Also welcome any decent 4X e.g. Civilization or Europa Universalis.
Very cool. Sign me up!
Looks visually interesting. We’ll see how it does in review— that’s what’ll prompt my purchase
This makes me miss Command and Conquer. Will have to give this a good look at. I miss this whole genre tbh!
@Shiryu Its a pretty fun game.
This is like playing Defcon in Mario Galaxy.
Looks very smart-phone-y but It's hard for me to turn down a good RTS. I'll see more about it when it comes out...
Alriiiight, stylish stuff all the way from New Zealand!
Well sometimes things can be both simple and deep, I hope that’s the case here. Potential purchase for me. Although I wish someone would bring back the Dune game
The Switch could really use a good strategy game. We have plenty of RPGs to choose from, and lots of action games, but nothing for the more cerebral crowd. I personally would love to see something like Civilization VI ported over, or something from Paradox Interactive, but I doubt that will ever happen.
@Mountain_Man I would like something like that too. But to make a Civ game work properly on a console I think they'd have to build one for a console from the ground up, rather than directly port. The idea of trying to play Civ 6 with a controller feels really tedious to me.
I thought this looked bang up my street, and then when someone mentioned it's developed by Kiwis (like myself), then it's a definite purchase as soon as it becomes available. Can't wait!
@Heavyarms55 How about an updated version of Civilization Revolution for the Switch? \o/
@Mountain_Man Or a sequel. They're ideas.
