We love a good cosplay here at NL Towers, but it's rare any one cosplay will make us say 'phwoar' in written form. This cosplay of a Space Pirate from Metroid by Dan Cattell shows that you can take a costume idea in any direction you see fit.

We're not sure how it all looks from the front, but from the angle we can see it looks simply fantastic. Frankly it's surprising we haven't seen more of this kind of 2D sprite style before, but then again we could just be looking in the wrong places.
Does this interpretation of an intergalactic swashbuckler mutant give you inspiration for your own cosplay dreams? Let us know in the comments below. If it doesn't, let us know what you had for breakfast in the comments below.

Yup... saw it at Acen... GENIUS!!!!! There was a pretty great 32-bit Sephiroth there too.
Now he just needs the monkey-like sounds Space Pirates do on Super Metroid.
That is amazing!
Cosplay done absolutely right.
"That's a very cool cossspllaaay, look at that...that's a very cool cosssplayyyy look at that..."
😍👌
I've seen stuff like this before.
There was a really good Link from Zelda II a few years ago.
So, I'd say yep... Your looking in the wrong places...
Best cosplay ever! And from my fave game!
Bravo!
That is incredible! No matter how many times I watch it, it still looks photoshopped! Doesn't look real. That is real talent. Best cosplay I have ever seen.
Well, look at that.
That's very cool cosplay.
That's not a cosplay. It's a sneak peek at Metroid Prime 4 Labo.
Day one.
I had sausage, egg, and cheese on sourdough.
@Gold_Ranger Yeah I've seen it before too. Not the first. Anyone can google "pixel art cosplay" and see it.
Amazing!
Outstanding Zebesian.
That's pretty great especially since Super Metroid is my favorite game ever. My favorite cosplay I've seen before is this one right here. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vG4E43b4cOI
Man, the last time I heard about TooManyGames, it was when I saw the roast of the Angry Video Game Nerd. That was funny. And awesome.
Stunning!
I see dancing round the handbag is still a thing then!!
This reminds me of those blocky Cloud and Barret box cosplays back then
I really like it. Reminds me how Super Metroid is a great game
Hey, Nintendo Life! That's me! This is my fifth pixel costume and I've been doing them since 2010. You can check out my work at @dan_cattell_art (Instagram) and Dan Cattell Art (Facebook)! I also run a Facebook group called Metroid Cosplay.
If you want to see the costume from the front, Charles Martinet just posted a video on Instagram.
@Gold_Ranger Hey! I'm the artist who did the Space Pirate! That Link was by OrngeJuice for a 2011 Halloween party. He was inspired by my first two pixel costumes, Chozo and Samus. https://orngejuice.deviantart.com/art/Zelda-II-Adventure-of-Link-266511691
@BigJoeCool Hey! I'm the Space Pirate artist! You actually saw my good friend and collaborator, Gioia, in her Metroid Zero Mission Chozo Statue! I did my Chozo back in 2010 and she's come up with two of her own versions since then.
@nesrocks Yeah, this Space Pirate is my fifth pixel costume. My first three were from Super Metroid, as well.
@ChozoBoy
Torizo, actually.
@Ooyah Thank you so much!
@Monkey_Balls Lol, I'm going to quote you when I post about my costume to the Metroid Cosplay group.
Awesome cosplay. Take me to Zebes!
i would run by and clothesline him with the quickness
Got to see this in person at Too Many Games and it was glorious.
