Pokémon GO has a new event, one that's already kicked off on a smartphone near you, and it's brought all manner of special rewards and extra buffs to make your AR Pokémon hunting that bit more enticing. Oh, and if you like your rock types, you should definitely read on.
There's some unique Field Research to be had, bringing with appearances by rare Pokémon such as Aerodactyl in Raid Battles. Rock-type Pokémon such as Geodude, Lileep, and Nosepass will appear more frequently in the wild, so be sure to keep an eye out on your travels, while Buddy Pokémon will earn candy at four times the speed for the duration of the event. You'll earn more XP from Gyms and PokéStops, and ten times as much for spinning one for the first time.
Have you already logged in and taken part in the Adventure Week event? What do you make of it? Share your thoughts with the rest of the community below...

I've just started playing this again for the first time in over a year on the back of the Switch rumours and potential connection. It's better than it was and it passes a bit of time so I'll keep playing for now
This is some really good stuff. Already got a couple of new additions to the Dex, and those XP bonuses are going to be super useful!
There’s also Shiny versions of Aerodactyl, Kabuto and Omanyte!
Thanks to this event, I've been able to complete one of my mythical discovery task in 1/4 of the time (buddy candies) and evolved several of the rare rock types.
Also more experience points is always a good thing especially when you're still level 38.
Thank God. I just got the evolve Magikarp research task and I was dreading having to farm Magikarps for months, because those things definitely are not as common as they used to be. Now I get 4 Magikarp candies every kilometer with Gyarados as my buddy. Hopefully I can get to 400 before this event ends!
Front page is full of articles on all-things-Pokemon except the Switch game, where is the damn announcement @ The Pokemon Company
The new events like this are a big part of what made me come back to this game. After over a year long of not touching it, I've been playing again for a month, caught the tail end of a water type event, then we had a fighting type event, last week's community day event was a blast! (I caught 7 shiny charmander!!!) and now we have this rock event, leading into a Larvitar community day next month.
Combined with mini quests, raid battles and vastly improved Gyms, this game is WAY better than when I originally quit.
That said, it still isn't what it should be. Potions and healing items are way too rare. There is no other way to heal Pokemon. Blissey and Chansey are bleeping BROKEN and on every gym. And the limit of 50 coins per day - regardless of number of gyms you conquer - is super restricting.
@bratzdoll You realize this is a fan site right?
@Heavyarms55 Oh, I'm not complaining about the coverage, it wasn't a dig at NL! It's more about how Pokemon Co.'s giving us everything but the one thing we're asking for. I can't wait any longer!
@bratzdoll Give it till the Pokemon World Championship. They will announce it by then if not before.
@rushiosan
With Pokemon Let's Go coming soon, Pokemon Go might be very relevant.
@rushiosan shhhh.
Let people enjoy things.
I actually actively play mobile games more than most ""core"" gamers and I don't like MonGo. It just.. barely works, and when it does, it's not that fun.
@rushiosan Yes. People still play it. In their millions.
