It's been nine years since the MotoGP franchise last graced a Nintendo console with 2009's MotoGP on Wii (back when Capcom did things other than Resi and Street Fighter), but that two-wheeled drought is finally coming to an end this June with the arrival of Milestone's MotoGP 18.
With a release date set for 7th June 2018, the Italian developer has released a short behind-the-scenes clip that shows some of the new tech its using to recreate the realism of the world's most prestigious motorcycling tournament. You'll get to see how drones and special 3D cameras will help reproduce every track on the official calendar - we just hope all this realism isn't lost on the Switch port.
Check out the video above. What do you make of it? Will the Switch port be a worthy version or a paired down iteration close to the ones we've seen on PS Vita?

Looks awesome!
Meh the Motogp were boring racing games, give me Mario Kart or the new bike game in Nintendo Lado!
It will be paired down, offcourse it WILL look better than the Vita version back then.
Can't expect a 6 year old handheld with a 333mhz quad-core, 128mb vram and 512mb to come even close to the possibilities of the Switch.
If they get this running on the switch with that level of details then other developers have no excuses at all.
@EasyDaRon
They made ME Supercross also?
Well then ya, you're probably right.
dont model the bloody garages and valentinos mug, model the bike handling, track surface and weather!
I am looking forward to the day when Euclideon's "Unlimited Detail" technology is used for a racing game like MotoGP.

This game should be able to run on a Wii.
That drone scanning is nice an' all, but most motor racing circuits have about as much visual appeal as the inside of my pants.
I'd much rather race a la Project Gotham Racing and Forza Horizon around street circuits and rural landscapes.
I found a screenshot of the Switch version, it looks AWESOME!!!
The problem with this is how it is being developed by Milestone, aka the guys who were responsible for the Switch versions of MXGP3 and Monster Energy Supercross, two of the worst Switch ports since WWE 2K18.
I got MXGP3, and while it plays fine there is no denying how bad of a port it is compared to the other versions, I mean even the PS3 version of the original game looked and played better. Then there is Monster Energy Supercross which was pretty much a dumpster fire on the Switch with loads of technical issues on top of the cut features and reduced everything.
Now I am not saying Milestone is hopeless, they have made some games that I really loved on the PS4 and Xbox One after all, but their Switch ports have so far been inexcusably bad and they never even bothered to patch them. They really need to prove to us that they can do a good job with a game on the Switch before I will consider buying this.
@EasyDaRon That is actually a good point to bring up. I remember back when I was looking forward to Monster Energy Supercross, they kept showing off the technical features and trailers for the game, but all of it was for the PC, PS4, and X1 versions. I wasn't able to actually see what the Switch version looked like or what features it had until I saw someone upload a video of it on youtube, and what I saw was basically MXGP3 all over again only somehow even worse.
So far Milestone has a really bad record of talking about technical features and improvements only to half-ass the Switch version and bring none of it over. I can't take them seriously and I am tired of looking forward to their games only to have them disappoint me in the end. They need to show us Switch footage and confirm features for that version.
Looking forward to a solid game.
@JayJ Those 2 ports were complete abominations on the Switch! I had the displeasure of having both. I gave MXGP 3 a pass (even though I literally brought the game back after having it for 30 minutes) because it was their first go with Unreal 4 and the Switch... however when ME Supercross dropped and it looked like straight up garbage juice I knew they didn't give a crap. There was no reason to strip out the multiplayer, lose the track editor, cut the grid to 11 and then dial down the graphics worse then PS2 era.
MotoGP has been the franchise i always hoped would come out on the Switch since the day I got it a week after launch. But I'm so skeptical now. It also kind of sucks that it's going to be digital only for the US so i couldn't even bring it back if I wanted to.
@mfranzese46 Yeah that is pretty much my experience as well. I was willing to give MXGP3 a pass since it was their first effort, but ME Supercross really dropped the ball with being arguably an even worse port. As a result I am going to be very skeptical of MotoGP. If they do a good job I will definitely be buying it, but there is no way I am going to get too excited about it until I see some decent Switch footage and see a much better game than they have released so far.
@Rayquaza2510 Of course, but some of Milestone's games on the Vita were really impressive. The only one that was bad was Moto GP 14 because it used a newer engine which ran terribly on Vita but Moto Gp 13, MX GP, and WRC 4 are incredible on the Vita. They look just like the PS3 versions but with lower resolution.
I can only hope Switch ends up that good (meaning the quality of the ports, even a bad switch port will usually look better than any Vita game besides Killzone Merc) frankly because from what I've heard, MX GP 3 was pretty bad on the Switch.
I'm very interested because Switch sorely needs a realistic racing game. Mario Kart is fun but it can be boring compared to a good racing sim and Milestone has always made solid racing game.
I'm just worried the port will suck like MX GP 3
Also, I don't like that last sentence. Milestone's games on the Vita were amazing other than Moto GP 14. They did an incredible job porting those to the Vita. We can only hope they give us that kind of quality work. WRC 4 is still IMO one of the best racing games ever on a portable console.
