There are a lot of things to love about Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Its endearing mashup of classic Mario mechanics and turn-based strategy, the emotional director who brought the game to life and, of course, its brilliant score. So, here's a video showing you how that orchestral magic was brought to life.
Written by Grant Kirkhope - he of Banjo-Kazooie, GoldenEye 007 and Yooka-Laylee fame - you'll hear about the origins of each themE, what it was like to write for a Mario game, as well as zipping from Prague to Paris and back again to see the music being recorded with a live orchestra, and an opera singer, in all its glory.
We love these behind-the-scenes videos, and we're huge fans of Mr Kirkhope's back catalogue, so give it a watch and let us know you made of it...

The music in this game was glorious. Especially the ice/desert area.
I have never expected Mario + Rabbids games can have Glorious Orchestra themes.
I love this! Thanks for sharing.
Superb soundtrack certainly just as good as any main Mario game.

So I just got through the part in the game where you experience the opera singing. WOW, that was amazing, brilliant, I have no words...
How coincidental that the opera singer himself had a mustache rivaling both Mario and the phantom boss
Kirkhope's music never fails to put a smile on my face.
Fantastic
I thought the music in this game was a huge success. Definitely met the goal of Kirkhope + Nintendo + Ubisoft. While I was getting through the game after purchase, I often caught myself humming one of these overworld themes later in the day.
@roykoopa64 That section is probably my favorite cutscene in any came in the last five years. Maybe my favorite ever.
When I was playing this game, both me and my girlfriend (who wasn't even following the game itself) were often singing some of the themes of this game. Award-worthy soundtrack, without a doubt.
Nintendo, the master of video game music.
Adore the music! And not only do I love the opera singer, but that Cheshire Cat shirt he wore is just the cherry on top.
The game has great music.
