Two entries in the Mercenaries Saga have already appeared on 3DS - 2015's Mercenaries Saga 2: Order Of The Silver Eagle and 2016's Mercenaries Saga 3: Gray Wolves Of War - and now we'll finally be getting the first as all three arrive in the newly minted Mercenaries Saga Chronicles.
Due next month, the trilogy of tactical RPGs will see Will Of The White Lions make its console debut on Nintendo Switch with a handful of technical tweaks to make it fit Nintendo's new hardware (including refitting all three games to a 16:9 resolution). Across the collection you'll get access to a total of 82 campaign chapters, in which your decisions lead to different routes and endings, and variable terrains for employing a variety of tactics in its addictive Free Battles.
Mercenaries Saga Chronicles will battle its way onto Nintendo Switch in February. Does its tactical RPG wares take your fancy? Tell us your thoughts below..

Will definitely be getting this. I played 2 on the 3DS a bit and I thought it was good for what little I played of it.
More turnbased RPGs are always good in my books.
Definitely day one buy for me. Can't wait to play the first one finally.
Yes please, bring on all the RPG's I can sink my teeth into. The switch is the new RPG machine
Saga Chronicles.
That's all I got to say about this.
The second one was good but forgettable.

I've never heard of these games. I'll have to look into them... What are they like? Advance Wars? Fire Emblem? Something completely different?
@leo13 They're basically like Final Fantasy Tactics.
I am ready to get tactical!
I like the look of these but as I have FF Tactics still unplayed on the PSP I'll give them a miss.
Yes! Played the 2nd on 3ds and loved it! I wonder how much it will be ? I’m guessing around the 12.99 mark which would be a bargain !
@Aerona thanks. I haven't played any of those. I guess I'll have to look into it more
Looks interesting, if my lineup is free when it launches, I'll consider picking this up.
So is this like a Fire Emblem type game? Or what? I don't know anything about this series.
I always wondered, are these on the same level as FFT or Tactics Ogre?
@lemonjellydude £12.99 would be too cheap considering they have made some tweaks. I am expecting £14.99 or even £17.99. Even at that price you are getting a lot of SRPG for your buck.
@RazumikhinPG
No, these are basically budget versions of those games. They're solid but I recommend going in with tempered expectations.
I'm like in tears over how much incredible content is available for Switch owners willing to look deeper than just Zelda, Splatoon and Mario.
Nintendo's back to having the most appealing system, and I'm happy to be a Nintendo fan again. I will rock this every bit as hard as I did Tactics Ogre: TKOL and FFTA back in the day.
Now what we need is for Sega to pony up with that Shining Force collection. Put SF1, 2, all books of 3 translated and the "gaiden" games in one release on the Switch... and I will SELL my PS4.
Good to see.
I love FFT, FFTA2, and Disgaea, but I'm not so excited about this. From what I remember of it on the 3DS (MSC2, I think?) it seemed very bare-bones and not at all polished.
I liked what little I played of part 2. Wishlist it goes.
Depends on the price how soon I'll pick this up.
I consistently hear bad review things about this series ,I fear this might just be another port cash grab.
I'm not sure about these games. I was tempted to buy number 3 on 3ds but always looked like diet ff tactics to me, maybe I will give them a go though.
@LowKeyLoki
Man oh man...I would LOVE to see a Shinig Force collection on Switch. That is one series I have adored for years, and I can even still go back and play and enjoy even SF1 to this very day!
@Pigeon yeah I know. I actually bought it in a psn sale for the series 25th anniversary. That was five years ago! Since then I've played through 1, 2, 4 (not the after years yet), and 6. Still have 5 and Tactics to go. Along with 9 which I picked up along the way. I can only take so much FF in one go, especially since I play FF14, but I'll get there.
@Pigeon so I've heard. I don't have much experience with tactical RPGs so I'm sure it will be interesting. I have heard it's more difficult than a typical final fantasy, time will tell I guess.
I'm currently alternating between FF14 and Valkyria Chronicles 2, so it will be a while before I get into anything else from my backlog.
@Steelhead FF Tactics has a couple of difficulty spikes that can catch a player out, but eventually the game breaks itself and you can start rinsing the story battles. That's not a criticism, though - it's part of what makes the game so enjoyable. I'm currently playing through FF Tactics War of the Lions for the first time, and I'm just about to start the last batch of missions. It's been a riot, and the game I've put most hours into over the past year after Zelda: BotW. Get started! It's great!
